After locking the door to his study, Uchiha Fugaku descended into the secret room beneath it. Due to the recent break-in, he had moved the precious scrolls and weapons from this secret room to another, more secure location. After making a few modifications, this secret chamber was now his personal indoor training room.
Lighting the lamps in the room, he took out a sealed scroll and carefully unraveled it.
Poof!
With a puff of smoke, a large scroll appeared in his hands. It was none other than the Book of Seals that he had stolen from the Hokage Building.
"This is quite a complicated seal," Fugaku muttered, studying the intricate markings on the scroll.
As expected, something as important as the Book of Seals was heavily guarded by a powerful sealing jutsu. Fugaku knew that without proper knowledge, forcing the scroll open would trigger the seal's self-destruct mechanism, destroying the scroll and its contents.
"I still can't believe Uzumaki Naruto managed to steal this and break the seal," he thought with amusement. The fact that Naruto, who was just a Genin at the time, had successfully stolen the Book of Seals and even unlocked it was suspicious. Fugaku didn't believe it was a mere coincidence. In his opinion, it was likely a carefully orchestrated event, designed to introduce Naruto to sealing techniques and allow him to learn a "forbidden jutsu."
Otherwise, how could Naruto, a mere Genin, pull off something that even Fugaku, a Kage-level shinobi, had barely managed without detection?
"There are five layers of seals… This will take a while to unlock," Fugaku murmured, his Sharingan activating. The crimson eyes of the Uchiha Clan allowed him to trace the flow of chakra within the seal, helping him carefully begin the process of breaking it.
Unlocking the seal required immense patience and precision. Any mistake could trigger the scroll's self-destruct mechanism, permanently erasing the contents.
"Finally!" Fugaku sighed with relief after three long days of work. He had successfully broken all five seals without triggering the self-destruction.
Excitement flickered in his eyes as he unrolled the scroll and began to read.
"Multiple Shadow Clone Technique…"
The first forbidden jutsu detailed in the scroll was the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique. This technique was an advanced version of the standard Shadow Clone Jutsu, allowing the user to create hundreds or even thousands of clones at once. However, it was listed as forbidden due to the immense amount of chakra it required. If used recklessly, it could drain a shinobi to the point of death.
"The Shadow Clone Jutsu is useful enough for me. The Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu isn't necessary."
While Fugaku's chakra reserves were large compared to most shinobi, they weren't vast enough to make efficient use of the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu. Only someone like Uzumaki Naruto, who possessed an enormous chakra pool, could wield it effectively.
He scrolled further down.
"Four Symbols Seal..."
The Four Symbols Seal was a powerful and complex sealing technique that used the cycle of the four symbols to seal away evil, granting it immense power. It was listed as a forbidden jutsu due to its difficulty in execution and the high level of sealing talent required to master it.
"This could be useful, depending on my ability with sealing techniques," Fugaku mused.
Continuing to flip through the scroll, he saw one forbidden jutsu after another. Some he had heard of, while others were completely new to him. There were more than a dozen in total, each one with its own dangers and advantages.
Finally, he reached the section he had been most eager to find—the one detailing the Flying Thunder God Technique.
"The Flying Thunder God... It truly requires an exceptional spatial talent," Fugaku muttered, reading the description carefully. His initial guess had been correct: only those with an extremely high aptitude for manipulating space could hope to master this technique.
He continued reading through the instructions, eager to understand the process.
The first step in learning the Flying Thunder God Technique was to draw the special chakra mark, which served as a spatial anchor. This mark, infused with space-time properties, allowed the user to teleport instantly to its location. However, only those with high spatial aptitude could successfully draw this mark. Just as ninjas with specific chakra affinities excel at corresponding jutsu, only those with spatial talent could create the Flying Thunder God mark.
The second step involved sensing the spatial coordinates associated with the mark. After successfully drawing the chakra mark, the mark itself would become a spatial coordinate. The user had to be able to perceive and connect with these coordinates—another task that required a refined spatial awareness.
The final step was to activate the space-time power and teleport to the coordinates. If a user could accomplish this step, they would have mastered the basic form of the Flying Thunder God Technique. However, to use the technique with the same fluidity and mastery as the Second or Fourth Hokage, one would need to refine the technique even further through extensive practice and understanding of space-time manipulation.
Fugaku studied the scroll in detail, making sure he had memorized the entire process before taking out a kunai. He carefully attempted to draw the Flying Thunder God mark onto the handle of the weapon.
Scratch...
A thin black line appeared on the kunai's surface, but before Fugaku could finish the mark, the line began to fade. Within moments, it had completely disappeared.
"A failure…"
He tried again. And again.
Scratch... Scratch...
Each time, the same thing happened. The mark would vanish before he could complete it.
After several hours of repeated failures, Fugaku finally set the kunai down, his eyes narrowing in thought.
"It seems I don't have the natural talent for space-time ninjutsu," he admitted to himself. While he had managed to draw the initial lines of the chakra mark, he had been unable to sustain it, indicating a lack of innate spatial talent.
"The Flying Thunder God is not suited for me. Perhaps if I could find someone with a strong spatial talent and... obtain their abilities, I might stand a chance."
The realization didn't come as a surprise to Fugaku. Throughout history, only the Second and Fourth Hokage had truly mastered the Flying Thunder God Technique, a testament to the rarity of spatial talent among shinobi.
Still, Fugaku wasn't too disappointed. He had never placed all his hopes on this technique. Shaking his head, he turned his attention back to the Sealed Book and flipped to the section detailing the Eight Gates Technique.
"If the Flying Thunder God isn't an option, then it's time to focus on the Eight Gates."
The Eight Gates Technique—a forbidden jutsu known for granting overwhelming physical power—was his next target. While the technique came with severe side effects, Fugaku had a method to avoid them, thanks to his unique abilities.
As he prepared to delve into the next stage of his training, he felt a renewed sense of determination. The path to ultimate power was long and fraught with challenges, but Fugaku was not one to give up easily.
