Chapter 26 - Chapter:26

"Hmm—"

Under the crushing weight of Susanoo's massive hand, more than half of Kakuzu's bones were shattered. Despite his remarkable pain tolerance as a Kage-level ninja, Kakuzu couldn't hold back a groan.

"The Mangekyō Sharingan... You've awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan!" he gasped, his face contorted in disbelief as he looked at Uchiha Fugaku within the colossal Susanoo. His eyes fixated on Fugaku's Mangekyō Sharingan, its strange and fearsome patterns unmistakable.

Having lived through the time of Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha, Kakuzu was well aware that the Uchiha clan possessed another, far more dangerous eye beyond the ordinary Sharingan—the Mangekyō Sharingan. With those eyes, Madara had almost equaled the power of Hashirama, standing as a feared figure in the shinobi world.

"If I had known Uchiha Fugaku had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan, I would've never targeted him," Kakuzu thought, realizing too late the true terror of the Mangekyō Sharingan.

Unfortunately, there was no turning back now.

"You've understood well, but there's no reward for that," Fugaku said coldly. "You possess no secret technique, no bloodline limit. You're not even worthy of leaving behind a complete corpse."

As Fugaku finished speaking, Susanoo's giant hand tightened its grip, crushing Kakuzu's body into minced flesh. Both of Kakuzu's hearts were destroyed, ensuring there would be no resurrection this time.

Had Kakuzu possessed some rare secret technique or a unique kekkei genkai, Fugaku might have spared his body intact. But Kakuzu had neither, and Fugaku had no interest in the forbidden Earth Grudge Fear technique—he had no desire to transform into something that was neither human nor ghost, like Kakuzu.

"Is he... dead?"

Hundreds of meters away, Yamanaka Fū was frozen in shock. The notorious S-rank rogue ninja Kakuzu had actually been killed—by none other than Uchiha Fugaku, someone he never imagined would pose such a threat.

"Kakuzu had Kage-level strength... and Uchiha Fugaku managed to kill him. Does that mean Fugaku's power is also beyond Kage level?" Fū thought in astonishment.

Although Kakuzu's strength was rumored to be at the level of a Kage, Fū , as a member of Root with access to vast amounts of information, knew that this wasn't just a rumor. It was true—Kakuzu was indeed as powerful as a Kage.

Yet, even someone as strong as Kakuzu had fallen to Uchiha Fugaku. This meant Fugaku's strength not only matched that of a Kage but likely surpassed the average Kage-level.

"What was that giant skeleton? Could it be...?"

Fū 's mind raced as he considered the possibility that had sent chills down his spine. Ever since Madara Uchiha's time, the Uchiha clan had declined, with no one ever again awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan. But now, the immense power and the half-formed skeletal figure Fugaku had summoned made Fū realize the truth: Uchiha Fugaku had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan.

"This news must reach Lord Danzo at once!"

Without wasting time, Fū scribbled down his observations and conclusions onto a note. He attached the note to a carrier pigeon and sent it flying towards Konoha. But suddenly—

*Puff!*

A kunai pierced through the pigeon mid-flight, and it fell to the ground with a dull thud.

"Who...?" Fū turned to see the direction the kunai had come from, only to feel a cold sweat form on his back.

Standing there, with blood and tears streaming from his eyes and an aura that chilled Fū to the bone, was Uchiha Fugaku.

"So, there *was* a little rat following me," Fugaku said icily, his eyes locking onto Fū .

After leaving Konoha, Fugaku had a vague sense that he was being watched. Although he wasn't a sensory-type ninja, the enemy's surveillance techniques involved various animals, making it difficult for him to pinpoint their exact location. However, during his battle with Kakuzu, the momentary shock of seeing Susanoo caused the observer's chakra to slip for just a second, allowing Fugaku to find their hiding place.

"Anbu... or Root?" Fugaku's eyes fell on the mask Fū was wearing.

Root and Anbu attire were nearly identical, with only minor differences in the masks. Anbu members wore animal masks exclusively, whereas Root members could use a wider variety, including ghost masks.

"Not good!" Yamanaka Fū thought, seeing Fugaku right before him. His mission had failed.

Without hesitation, Fū kicked off from the tree branch beneath him and darted through the woods like a nimble animal, determined to escape and report the news about Uchiha Fugaku.

"It's pointless," Fugaku sneered.

Even someone as powerful as Kakuzu couldn't escape from him—let alone a mere spy.

With a swift movement, Fugaku appeared in front of Fū , launching a powerful kick towards him. Fū barely managed to raise his arms in defense, blocking the blow but forced to flip backward to reduce the impact. He landed warily, knowing he was no match for Fugaku.

"Who sent you to spy on me?" Fugaku asked, not in a hurry to strike again.

But Fū didn't answer. Instead, he quickly formed hand signs, preparing his clan's signature technique.

"The Mind-Body Clone Technique—"

Fū knew that he was unlikely to escape alive after discovering such a dangerous secret. His only hope was to catch Fugaku off guard and use the Yamanaka clan's secret technique to control Fugaku's body long enough to escape.

A mental force shot from Fū into Fugaku's body, aiming to wrest control of his actions.

But Fugaku merely snorted, unimpressed.

As a Kage-level shinobi with the powerful mental fortitude granted by the Mangekyō Sharingan, Fugaku easily repelled Fū 's mental attack. The invading force was pushed out of his mind almost instantly.

"Ah!" Fū cried out in agony as the backlash of his failed jutsu struck him. Blood streamed from his eyes, ears, and nose, and he staggered backward in pain.

"Mind-Body Clone Technique? So, you're from the Yamanaka clan," Fugaku remarked with a slight smirk.

The Yamanaka clan, part of the famous Ino-Shika-Cho trio, was known for their unique mind-control abilities and their expectational sensory skills.

Compare to Kakuzu This Yamanaka is More Suitable for Corpse-Melting Technique.
