The morning was cold and somber, reflecting the heaviness in Elodie's heart. A pale gray sky, the sun barely piercing through the clouds as a gentle mist clung to the ground. The usual birdsong was absent, replaced by an eerie silence that seemed to match her mood,
Elodie sat by the window as she always like to do, watching the world slowly come to life, but her thoughts were far from the beauty of the morning. The events of the night before replayed in her mind, her husband, Marc, stumbling home drunk, leaning on the arm of another woman.
Elodie was lost in her thoughts, unsure of how to face the day or the truth that lingered between her and Marc.
Then Marc who was still feeling sleepy walked out of the room rubbing his eyes.
"Good morning Elodie" Marc said as he walked to the fridge to get water to drink.
"Good morning Marc, please we need to talk and it is about yesterday night" Elodie replied frowning her face.
"Elodie and what about yesterday night?"
"Marc who was that woman that brought you home drunk?"
"Elodie I don't remember anyone bringing me home yesterday night, I drove home myself"
The conversation was interrupted by Marc's phone, so he went to the room to take the call after some minutes of his conversation on the phone he went to Elodie and said.
"I will be going to work soon, I just got called for an important meeting"
Elodie observed his character and knew that there was something fishy about her husband after the call.
"Okay then we will sit down and talk much better when you get back from work."
He quickly took his bath and got dressed, but something was also different about his dress because he normally wears suit to work but today was very different, he was dressed in casual clothes for outing, and he rushed out of the house hurriedly as if he was an fire service man that was called to put off a fire in a building.
And not knowing to him that he has forgotten his phone, Elodie watched him as he drove out of the house and heading towards south but his work direction was normally North.
As she was still trying to figure out everything that was happening with his husband and his sudden change this morning, she heard some noise coming from Marc's room and she decided to check to see what was producing the noise.
To her greatest surprise it was Marc's phone and the caller name was Sophie, so she decided to pick up the call and know the information the caller was trying to pass to her husband.
"Hello my love. who was that woman in your house yesterday night?"
Elodie quickly end the call and sat in the bed and tons of thoughts began to run through her mind, then she though to herself. "I don't think that woman that came home with my husband last night was his worker."
