Chapter 3 - a beautiful stranger

Eunice bit her lower lip slowly as she patiently sipped her wine, she ignored all warning glares from men in different tables. Men for the most part want things that can only benefit them, and in that case she's got nothing to offer to them, she's out here to reflect on herself after her graduation the situation that is towering over her. She picked up her purse and stepped into the club, the loud sound of the music is deafening, she saw few of her course mates dancing in style, people were busy kissing in dark corners, she watched from the top of the stairs to the lowest spot of the club house she watched and smiled until she sighted her ex best friend Ann and her expression darkened unexpectedly that was the least person she wanted to see. "I don't have ill luck", she quietly protested, setting her eyes on her bad memory has automatically sent her dear feet itching, she became more curious than annoyed.

"Hi Eunice, you should grab a drink, common!" Priscilla Richards pushed her slightly from behind tapping her out of the world she was in, Eunice plastered a fake smile on her face. "No, you know I don't drink alcoholic drinks", she peacefully declined. "Common, you're finally a graduate, we bagged a degree we need to break rules and forbid principals tonight, of course there's something to remember once in our lifetime, take.. take.. drink up". She forced a bottle of alcohol into her hands and left in a hurry, Eunice stared at the damn thing and sighed tiredly. "What the heck is this? I was afraid of you ones but tonight I'm going to grab a taste" She tried to turn in a hurry to get an opener when her eyes balanced on a good familiar figure, she has her mask on but she cannot hide from her. "Sarah!" She whispered. "She's out here with a man?" She muttered and traced the figure to confirm her doubts, just as she dragged forward she witnessed the figure vanish like a mirage. Her eyes clocked anticlockwise and she engaged herself in a rapid search, checking all the nooks and crannies of the club, she believed Sarah wasn't all glorified as she claims, she criticizes her yet she's the same and much worse as she coud comprehend. "I have to get rid of you for me to live". That sentence came dragging at her again, she wanted to get rid of her and for what, what kind of life did she stop her from?

Eunice took a sharp u turn without checking with her direction, she collided with something hard and almost stumbled but with ease he held her still. Her sharp eyes swept through him, she's never met a man so captivating in her entire twenty and four years of life, and that look in his eyes almost swept her off her feet, was she drooling? "Are you okay?" Not like he cared about this directionless woman but he was just being a gentleman for the first time in his life, he should have done better by tossing her. Eunice stood in a daze, she had her eyes open all this time, "whatever happens, I've done it to myself". She muttered to him. "Are you okay?" He asked again, his ocean blue eyes snapping despite the lightness in his words. That look in his eyes made her feel completely naked, more than she could decipher, what could be amiss? She thought, not coming at any objection, he was beautiful and if there's something she forgot it'd be herself. "Uhm.. sorry Mr. My bad". She quickly apologized and dragged her feet out of his Way, he turned around and watched her sleep through the door, he must have startled her pretty badly. "Sir, she is the second twin daughter of Mr Luis Bernard the.. hunt.er". He dragged the last words, he couldn't let them out freely, she is from a messy background. "Sir she is to be married to the last son of doctor Silas in 7 days".

"Is she aware?"

"No sir".

"Keep your eyes on her and from now onwards if anyone other than me pulls a knife on her, I will kill the one".

"Yes boss".

The urge to kill her has turned into a deep spirit of protection,When they told him about some girl from one of the families in the street, with a pretty bad reputation he knew he'd find a replacement. His step mother is trying her best to colonize his position if he leaves her a very small chance she will soar. he came all the to get rid of whatever will stand on his way, a dustbin girl is not a good reason to call him home but setting his eyes on this little woman he will protect her to no end. His hunger to protest has turned into a thirst for her, he has to act fast. There was something about her, something captivating, interesting and catching. She's just so beautiful and smart, she seemed so innocent even though she wasn't purely a saint.

"Sir, did you..

He wiped his face and tossed the handkerchief away. "That woman and I are inevitably connected, I couldn't hurt her even when I wanted to". He blinked, his hands tucked into his pocket was it just fate or is she generally a game? Lucas stood there staring into space, his ocean blue eyes as deep as the ocean. Theodore his personal assistant knew that there was nothing else they could do to get him to take her off the surface of this earth, they didn't come for her but he'd literally chop off fingers pointing at her and this will become the beginning of their failure.

Eunice emptied a glass of water which didn't help with the way her head was beginning to throb, it keep coming back, his eyes, the height, his gentleness. Who was that? She couldn't deny that random and unholy connection she felt with him. There could have been a more diplomatic way to begin a conversation, but did she even remember her name? the moment his eyes swept through her she forgot also her name. She forgot her dignity and all she wanted to do was melt down into his arms and it seemed so much more real and very frightening. She bit her lower lip and with a deep sigh she headed for the bench beneath the mango tree and plunked herself down on the chilly wood. Though thinking never did anyone any good she did not forget but she was trying to wrap up the wired trauma. "It's been three years still attempting to live with what I did". She muttered to herself. "I don't deserve glory". She braced herself, every other women deserves beauty and glory except her, she's a Major shame. she is beginning to decipher her mother's disgust at the sight of her. Her sister's hatred increasing daily, everything is changing and turning against her, she's being robbed of her freedom, of her peace, of her life..
