Chapter 24 - We March

Mareen was slender, as thin as you could imagine, but sexy and beautiful. Being a petite was among the top reasons Elio loved her more than any other girl he had seen so far in this world. It made her unique.

Based on the memories belonging to the original owner of this body, voluptuous girls with enormous bosoms and buttocks were not rare.

The beautiful thin ones were!

That's why he worried what would happen if Mareen got addicted to ice-creams and pizza and burger and chips and chicken wings; all of which Elio planned to introduce to his dining table soon enough.

'I'll think of a way to explain to her the negative impacts of oil and sugar,' he thought, helplessly watching as she devoured those two ice-creams and grabbed more from his hands.

"These will make do!" she said, walking away.

She had come to where Elio stood, and now she walked away with those two ice-creams, her hips here and there.

'Perhaps I'm being paranoid! Perhaps this world's biology works differently.'

Of course this sounded like nonsense, but he was trying to look for an excuse to minimize his worries.

He let out a sigh, turned to the maids and offered them the remaining 2 ice-creams.

"For your little siblings!" he said.

"Thank you so much, Your Grace!" they said in unison, trailing after him as he walked out of the dungeon.

Once he reached his chamber, his beloved maids, the ones he had fucked in the morning, ran to him, helped him into his clothes, winking at him from time to time with smiles on their faces.

General Maldor wasn't there, but there were 3 knights who followed behind him when he left for the City Center.

One of them led the way, though it wasn't necessary since Elio could hear where the noise was coming from, the noise that got louder and louder as they approached.

"And now..." he heard a man with a voice as loud and strong as that of a modern speaker, announcing his arrival. "Bow to your King!"

Everyone was facing the ground as Elio walked toward his throne. And when he sat, the man who had just announced his arrival started chanting, "All hail the King!"

Others joined him.

"All hail the King! All hail the King!"

It went on for a while, and Elio was busy wandering his eyes around.

The sun was high in the sky, still on the eastern side which meant it was yet to be noon, and the monster was still burning a few meters away from Elio.

The burning cage was on a square platform that had stairs on three of its sides to make it look like a pyramid of sorts, whereas the stairs of the fourth side instead of going down, they climbed toward the platform Elio's throne was set on.

The buildings, most of them three storeys high, made a square in which all this was taking place.

Elio had wanted to be here, but now he realized he didn't know what to do. He was supposed to burn the monster with the people but it was already burnt.

People had had their joy poking and seeing as it burned to ashes. All he could do now was give a speech.

"Friends," he began, rising to his feet. "Now you know..." He pointed at the cage. "...The bastards are not invincible."

"Yesss!" the people cheered, much like a roar.

"Now you know we can kill all of them!"

"Yesss!"

"So what are we waiting for?"

People exchanged glances.

"I'll tell you what we're waiting for," he continued. "They are so many. They are fast and still a formidable enemy. We can burn them, but we need to catch them first. So, what we're waiting for is a strategy."

People cheered once again.

"Yesss!"

"It's traps and weapons!"

"Yesss!"

"It's people who are willing to leave their families behind and follow me into enemy territory. People willing to put their lives on the line and confront the bastards. Do I have those people among you?"

The City Center erupted into another yesss!

"Then feast some more. Drink some more. Fuck your wives goodbye for tomorrow..."

He punched his fist forward, slightly toward the air.

"...We march!"

"Yesss!"

He left the site while people were still cheering, but he did not go back to his chamber. He instead ordered General Maldor to summon the officials and meet him in the meeting hall.

Since he claimed himself the king of the Crescent Kingdom, he had not met the lords, the advisors...

But he knew those people were important for a kingdom to run smoothly. He would not raise the army himself, he would not be the one to check for stocks of weapons and food, horses and all the things needed for victory.

It was necessary to talk to the people in charge and establish a connection with them.

"I know you all see me as a foreigner who should not have any authority over you," he said to them once the meeting had begun.

"I know we didn't start on good terms and there still are some hostilities. I know most of you have heard rumors that I am a weakling, that all I do is indulge myself in women and wine. I know some of you have men who can guard your fortress and help you rebel against me."

He swiped his gaze across their before continuing, "And you're right!"

They exchanged glances.

"Like any man, I have weaknesses. I'm a foreigner. This is your kingdom. But remember, I didn't just appear to be here. Your king attacked me with intent to kill me. I merely defended myself.

"Of course I should have stayed in my kingdom and left you to choose your new king. However, what you need is not a king who is not a foreigner. You need a king who can help you get rid of those abominations.

"Our island is in a dire situation. Your people are hungry. Soon enough, your new king would envy me and do what his predecessor did.

"We don't want that to happen, do we? We want to work together, fight together, celebrate victory together. We want prosperity. That's what I've come to offer. That's why I need your support in raising an army. That's why I need your expertise and advice. Financial support and information. Who is ready to offer me that? Who is ready to see our lands prosper?"
