Chapter 7 - THE NIGHTMARE

Daniel takes Bella to his bed; the worry lines on Bella's unconscious face were clearly visible. Seeing Bella in this condition pained Daniel deeply. He felt a strange sensation in his chest. He had never felt this bad for anyone before. When he learned that Bella was stressed about her college fees, without thinking much, he ordered Jacob to pay her fees. Until now, Daniel had never helped anyone like this. He didn't even understand why he was doing it.

As Daniel was thinking about all this, Bella began to regain consciousness. Slowly, she placed her hand on her head and opened her eyes.

When Bella opened her eyes, she found herself in a luxurious room. She noticed a man standing there, watching her. He seemed familiar, but Bella ignored him, sat up, and lowered her head, lost in thought. She remembered the words of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip. Bella had never felt so humiliated and rejected before. It wasn't that she didn't know they didn't like her, but she didn't realize they hated her so much that they couldn't even tolerate her presence in their home. Bella thought of her late grandfather, Mr. Phillip, who had always treated her with love. If he were alive, he wouldn't have allowed this to happen.

As these thoughts raced through her mind, Bella held her head and started crying. She muttered between sobs, "Grandpa, why did you leave me? I have no one else in this world. They think of me as a burden. I never want to go back to that house. I wish you had taken me with you..."

Seeing Bella in this state, Daniel clenched his fists. He realized that her family must have treated her very badly.

To comfort Bella, Daniel gently lifted her face, wiped her tears, and said, "You shouldn't cry like this. There's no point in being upset about people who don't care about you. You need to forget all of this. From now on, you'll stay here. Do you think I married you just to leave you alone? From today, you're my responsibility."

With that, Daniel hugged Bella, but Bella was still lost in her thoughts. After a while, she calmed down.

Daniel pulled away and said, "Look, your clothes are still wet. If you stay like this, you'll catch a cold and get sick. You should change."

Bella thought for a moment and realized he was right, but she didn't have any other clothes.

Just then, Daniel went to his wardrobe and brought her a T-shirt. Handing it to Bella, he said, "You can wear this for now. I'll arrange for your clothes by tomorrow morning."

Bella took the T-shirt and went to the bathroom to change. When she came back freshened up, she saw Daniel sitting on the sofa, using his phone, and there was food on the table. Seeing the food made Bella realize how hungry she was.

When Daniel noticed Bella, he looked up. The T-shirt came down to her knees, and he couldn't take his eyes off her. He was thinking about how someone could be so beautiful that she always captivated his gaze.

Bella noticed Daniel staring and felt uncomfortable. She checked the T-shirt and tugged at it a bit. Seeing her reaction, Daniel quickly looked away and stood up, awkwardly glancing around.

"There's some food here. You should eat," Daniel said, trying to compose himself as he headed toward the bathroom to take a shower.

As soon as Daniel left, Bella started eating the food. When Daniel came out after his shower, he saw Bella enjoying the meal. She stopped eating when she saw him. Daniel thought she might not be comfortable eating in front of him, so he decided to leave. Bella initially thought he was going to the balcony, but as he was leaving, Daniel said, "Finish your meal and get some rest." Bella, puzzled by his departure, watched him descend the stairs and disappear from sight. Not thinking too much, she finished her meal and went to bed.

Bella couldn't sleep at first. The T-shirt had a pleasant fragrance that reminded her of Daniel. She kept sniffing it, then suddenly realized what she was doing and laughed at herself. She wondered why Daniel was helping her so much. Lost in her thoughts, she eventually drifted into a deep sleep.

In the middle of the night, Bella woke up, feeling thirsty. She poured herself a glass of water from the jug on the bedside table. She tried to go back to sleep but couldn't. She got out of bed and began pacing the room, then decided to step out onto the balcony. The greenery stretched as far as she could see, shining under the moonlight. It brought her peace. She noticed several security guards patrolling the garden and around the house. She thought about how important Daniel must be, with such tight security.

Returning inside, Bella felt curious about where Daniel had gone. She walked to the other side of the room, thinking he might be in the other balcony. She opened the glass door and stepped inside, only to be stunned by the view. A stone staircase led downward, giving the impression of a path carved into a hillside. The stone walls were decorated with small plants, and water cascaded down between the stones into a pool below, like a natural waterfall. The pool looked like a small lake. It was breathtaking, and Bella stood there, taking it all in, wondering if it was real.

Soft lighting and a gentle breeze made the scene even more magical, but the cold air made Bella shiver slightly. Across from the pool, there was a large bed that matched the room's theme. Bella felt a bit startled when she saw Daniel sleeping there, shivering and mumbling, "No... no..."

Bella hurried over to him. Despite the cold, Daniel was drenched in sweat, and his face was filled with distress, as if he might cry. Bella grabbed his hand, placed her other hand on his head, and gently said, "Daniel, wake up. It's just a dream."

After several attempts to wake him, Daniel jolted awake as if escaping a nightmare, breathing heavily. Bella hugged him tightly, and Daniel returned the embrace. They sat like that for a long time until Bella noticed that Daniel had calmed down and fallen asleep again. She carefully laid him back down.

As Bella stood up to leave, Daniel, still asleep, grabbed her hand and mumbled, "Please don't leave me."

Bella was stunned by his words, wondering who Daniel was thinking of. But seeing him in such distress, she couldn't leave him alone. She lay down beside him, and Daniel held her hand tightly.

Bella thought to herself, "Why does it hurt so much to see Daniel in pain? Shouldn't I hate him? He's partly responsible for ruining my life." She didn't understand her own feelings and, lost in thought, soon fell asleep.

Daniel always woke up early, so when he woke up before Bella, he saw her curled up beside him like a child. He remembered the events of the previous night when she had comforted him after his nightmare.

Daniel covered Bella with a blanket and quietly went back upstairs to his room to get ready for work. As he dried his hair in front of the dressing table, Bella came up from the poolside bedroom.

Bella noticed several bags in the corner of the room. Daniel pointed to them and said, "Everything you need is in those bags. I had a wardrobe emptied for you, so you can put your things there. If you need anything else, just let me know."

Bella was surprised to see that the bags contained her clothes, makeup, and everything she needed. She asked Daniel, "Why are you doing all this for me?"

Daniel hesitated. He didn't know why he was doing so much for Bella, but he felt it might be guilt driving him. However, he couldn't tell her that, so he casually replied, "I have more money than I know what to do with. I'm not a miser like your uncle."

Bella was taken aback by how rude and strange his response was. She thought, "This man is so arrogant and weird. He can't even admit that he feels guilty for what he did."

Daniel left the room, and Bella unpacked her things, placing them in the wardrobe and on the dressing table. Then she took her clothes and went to freshen up.

When Bella came downstairs, she saw Daniel reading the newspaper. She wanted to ask him something, but she wondered how she could ask for his help.

Bella needed to buy some books and stationery items, but she didn't have any money at all. She thought that she couldn't ask Daniel for help, so she decided to ask Ruby for now and return the money later. After all, Ruby was her very good friend, and between them, such things were normal. But now, Bella's life had changed so much. She was lost in these thoughts as she came downstairs.
