Damien's POV:
The realization hit me like a punch to the gut. My mate, Leslie, and our unborn children were not just any ordinary wolves. No, they were something much more. Special. Unique. And that meant they would be targets—especially from wolves like Leah, power-hungry and ruthless. She had already come after Leslie once, and it had taken everything in me not to rip her apart for what she'd done. I had to protect my family, no matter the cost.
Midnight, my wolf, was restless, pacing in the back of my mind. Ever since Leslie told me she was pregnant, he'd been oddly calm, even excited. He had this unwavering certainty that Leslie wouldn't leave us, no matter how much her memories confused and hurt her. I hadn't understood why he was so sure, but now it was clear. She was pregnant, and that changed everything.
"I told you," Midnight growled in satisfaction. "Mate will never leave us now. We're going to be a father."
