"I don't understand why they came here..."
At No. 1 High School Affiliated with East China Normal University, in the principal's office, Principal Sun Yuan looked at the distinguished guests in front of him with some confusion.
A rather elegant couple stood before him with a girl around seventeen or eighteen years old.
Tang Shu introduced himself with a smile: "Hello, Principal Sun. I'm the father of Tang Yinxuan, a student in Class 1, Grade 3 of your school, and I'm the chairman of Huili Group."
He then introduced the elegant lady beside him: "This is my wife, Lin Qiu, and my daughter, Tang Yinxuan."
Huili Group?
Principal Sun Yuan suddenly felt a bit more serious.
As a local, he was, of course, aware that Huili Group was the leader in the sanitary ware industry in Jiangcheng City, with a market value of over one billion.
As the chairman of such a large company, Tang Shu must be a very busy man. Why would such an important figure bring his wife and daughter to visit the school?
"Hello, Mr. Tang. Has someone at the school been bullying Tang Yinxuan? We absolutely don't tolerate that sort of behavior here..."
Principal Sun assumed there had been a case of bullying at school.
The wealthier a student's parents are, the more carefully Principal Sun must treat them. After all, one never knows when such parents might donate hundreds of thousands or even millions to help the school out during tough times.
When Tang Shu realized the principal had misunderstood him, he quickly waved his hand and smiled: "No, no, no, Principal Sun, you've misunderstood. No one has been bullying my daughter. The reason we're here today is to thank someone. If they hadn't acted quickly, my daughter might have died yesterday."
To thank someone?
Upon hearing Tang Shu's words, Principal Sun vaguely remembered something.
Yesterday, one of his staff had reported that a senior student had fainted, and since the school doctor wasn't present, a security guard had performed first aid and revived the student.
Could this be what the parent in front of him was referring to?
Principal Sun waved his hand and smiled: "It was just a small matter, no need to be so formal. With this hot weather, it's common for students to get heatstroke. It's our fault for not being better prepared."
Since Qi Lin was just a security guard, the person who reported the incident to the principal didn't think much of it, even though the P.E. teacher had put in a good word for him. What was initially reported as "heart arrest" could easily be misunderstood as heatstroke.
This is the misfortune of a G-level protagonist.
Tang Shu was slightly startled when he heard what the principal said.
"Principal Sun, you're mistaken. My daughter didn't suffer from heatstroke. When she came home from school yesterday, we took her to the hospital for a check-up and discovered that she has a heart condition. Her heart had actually stopped yesterday. If Mr. Qi Lin hadn't acted in time, my daughter would probably be dead by now."
"Was it really that serious?"
After Tang Shu finished speaking, Principal Sun looked shocked.
Tang Shu smiled and nodded: "Yes, that's why we brought our daughter here to thank this hero."
At this moment, Principal Sun felt a bit proud. Even though Qi Lin was just a security guard, he was still part of the No. 1 High School Affiliated with East China Normal University. By saving the daughter of the chairman of Huili Group, it seemed the school had gained some favor as well.
Knock, knock, knock
Just as Principal Sun was about to say something, there was a knock on the office door.
He smiled apologetically at Tang Shu and said, "Please head to the reception room for now. I'll call Qi Lin over immediately."
Tang Shu smiled and nodded, then stood up: "Thank you, Principal Sun."
As they were leaving, they happened to run into Chen Dongxi.
Chen Dongxi, as Tang Yinxuan's class teacher, immediately recognized her.
"Hello, Teacher Chen."
Tang Yinxuan greeted him politely.
"Ah, Mr. Tang, you're here too."
Chen Dongxi responded, glancing at Tang Yinxuan curiously. Why was she here, and who were the two people with her?
After leaving the office, Chen Dongxi went straight to the principal and, without delay, lodged a complaint: "Principal, the security guard named Qi Lin at our school is completely shameless. Not only does he cause trouble for the staff, but he also leaves his post without permission. He was nowhere to be found this morning. What if someone from outside sneaks into the school?"
Qi Lin?
Hearing the familiar name, Principal Sun was stunned again.
What was going on?
Why were so many people bringing up this security guard this morning?
The difference, however, was that one person came to thank Qi Lin, while the other came to complain about him.
If Chen Dongxi had been the first to speak, Principal Sun might have assumed that Qi Lin was lazy and idle, someone who had only gotten the job through family connections.
But after hearing Tang Shu's praise, Sun Yuan felt that Qi Lin might not be the type of person Chen Dongxi was describing. There was likely more to the story.
For now, Principal Sun didn't criticize Chen Dongxi nor did he mention Tang Shu's gratitude toward Qi Lin.
Remaining calm, he smiled and said: "Qi Lin, you say? I can't fire someone based on your complaint alone. Call him over, and we'll settle this matter face-to-face. If he really has been neglecting his duties, I'll punish him accordingly."
Chen Dongxi, having witnessed Qi Lin's absence with his own eyes, was confident: "Alright, I'll call him over right now."
