Chapter 4 - Chapter 3- A selfish decision

After all the hard work, the 3 of them walked back hand in hand with Nath in the middle.

- What do you think Dorothy will greet us with this time darling?

- I don't know, but whatever our little one makes, I'm sure it will be delicious.

- Of course! She is my dear apprentice after all.

The atmosphere between her parents was quite soft and refreshing, they smiled at each other as they talked about the possibilities of dinner. Nath on the other hand didn't seem to think the same. Nath's gaze towards her parents was quite cold.

- I really don't understand.

- What's wrong darling?

- Is it really that hard to prepare food? You just have to put all the food in a pot and let it cook itself.

Her parents were silent for a moment and then started laughing amongst themselves.

- Don't laugh!

Nath's cheeks puffed out at her parents' response. With a small growl, she looked away from her parents who were still laughing.

- I'm sorry Nath, I really didn't want to laugh, but I couldn't resist.

Her mom let go of her hand and lowered her body to be at the same level as little Nath.

- Listen Natasha, you're right that making a meal in itself may seem like something quite simple to do, but it's much harder than it seems if you want it to be really delicious.

- Really?

- Yes, it's something that needs a lot of practice and experience. Actually, the fact that you saw it as something easy only shows how skilled your sister is in the kitchen.

- Mmm... I'm still not very convinced.

- Then why don't we try it tomorrow? The girls will meet in the kitchen and make a dish between the 3 of us.

- Yes!

Resuming their march, the family quickly climbed the hill where their house was located, by the time they arrived the sun was beginning to hide while the people in the town that could be seen in the distance went into their houses to rest from the festival that had taken place that day.

- Welcome

Dorothy greeted them warmly as she served the dishes on the small table next to the kitchen.

- For today's menu we have oatmeal with a side of eggplant and peppers and some venison that I bought from Uncle Jeff in the afternoon.

- Ohhhhh.

Her parents applauded at what was served on the table. Dorothy on the other hand puffed out her chest with pride while mom patted her on the head.

- Very well done my little Dorothy, you really are my best apprentice.

- Hehehe

On the other hand, Nath's expression seemed to darken a little. Nath began to look at her hands that still had dirt on them after having worked arranging the flowers, then she squeezed her hands and looked at her father with puppy eyes, but he didn't look at her. He was too busy while her sister explained to them how she had prepared everything.

- Really for your first time doing it alone it's incredible Dot.

- I know, I know. I'm amazing aren't I?

- Of course you are, you are my daughter after all.

He then lifted her up to his chest and gave her a hug as she returned it.

- Well, to celebrate that we have 2 such good daughters, why don't we start eating?

- Excellent idea, come sit down Nath.

But when he looked back, Nath had already disappeared.

- Nath?

Before they knew it, the only thing left was the slightly open door.

The 3 immediately panicked and began to search for her around the house with no luck.

"Damn, to think that she would sneak away from me too"

As the father rushed to put on a jacket and go out in search of his daughter, suddenly the door opened with a powerful bang that hit the wall that held it.

- Hey peasants, the lightning gang is here!

The already shocked family panicked as a group of 2 men in leather armor entered the house.

"Looks like things are going to get hectic from now on."

Ignoring the new development, I left the house to look for Nath before anything happens to her.

"I just hope this doesn't end in the worst way."
