Finally, I found him. Rage bubbled in my blood as I watched him. He looked as if he didn't even notice me. He only stood casually in the street, his eyes locked on her back as she walked away. Her eyes were filled with terror when she first saw him, but she walked away calmly with her head held high. It wasn't until she was out of sight that he spotted me. Not even a second after his eyes found me, he turned tail and ran into the trees.
I could only see his silhouette as I chased him through the trees. I never let him leave my sight, not even once. I let him gain distance between us. I needed the distance; I needed him to take me to wherever he's been staying. Then, I will make him suffer. No one gets away from me, and that will not change now. His pace slowed to a stop, and I ducked behind a tree before he could turn around. He examined the thick trees for a minute before huffing a sigh of relief. Fool, he is a complete fool. He coughed loudly as he continued in the direction he was running before. I followed him quietly through the trees. Ducking or sliding behind a tree when needing to. He brought me straight to a run-down shack on the edge of a clearing.
He glanced behind him once more before walking inside. I hid behind a nearby tree, watching the shack for any kind of movement. I spotted my target walking around the inside of the shack. I pulled my pistol from the waistband of my black trousers. I was too far away to get a clean shot on him, and I didn't exactly want him to die quickly. I want him to suffer for everything he did. To my father and, most importantly, to her.
A shot to the leg over even the shoulder would render him slow, and I should be able to catch him easily. While he flees in terror, like a good prey should. If he was able to get away from me, I could track him from the blood. Before I could make any move, my phone rang with the far too familiar jiggle. Quickly, I pulled my phone out, answering it before the sound could carry to the shack. Waiting a moment with my eyes on the shack, I watched for any movement. Nothing, not even a rustle.
"This better be good," I said in a whisper. Frustration filled my voice as I spoke.
"I sense this is a bad time." James's voice came through, and the urge to throw my phone into a tree grew a little lighter. But only a little.
"Did something important happen?" I asked my voice still in a whisper as I slowly backed away from the clearing.
"I'm at your place, thought I would bring you some food." He said calmly.
"I'll be there soon. We need to talk anyway." I said before hanging up.
This job was supposed to be quick and easy. All I was supposed to do was find him, maybe torture him a little bit and kill him. That's all, I have done this thousands of times with many different types of people. Well, not thousands, but a few hundred at least. I'm a professional, and now that I have found where he is staying. This hunt will sadly end quickly. I tucked away the gun back into my waistband, covered it with my shirt, and walked calmly out of the trees.
James had spotted me right away and was looking confused as I emerged from the tree line. That was before a second of realization filled his features. It was only noon. I was in the woods for an hour or two.
We sat at the rugged wood table in the kitchen. I watched as James's mouth moved up and down, clearly trying to talk to me. But my mind was somewhere else. I replayed the memories of a few hours ago. Cyber was only a few inches away from me, and I could feel her warmth against my own. The fear that flashed over her face when she saw that scrawny little twig. My blood ran cold at that thought. Of that memory. I was going to make him suffer for that... for making her feel that way... for whatever plans he made in his sick little brain for her.
"I know that look, Who pissed you off? and what you planning to do about it?" James said, snapping me out of my head.
"I found the brat, but he also found the girl at the same time," I said, curling my hands into fists.
"I see; then it may be important for you to know that we were able to find out that the brat hired a mercenary from a neighbouring city... and not just any mercenary. We found payment to a Heath Wicken." He said in a low voice.
"Heath Wicken, as in the Eastern bloodsucker?" I asked.
"Yes, the Eastern bloodsucker, Why he would come out here? I don't know."
Heath, the Eastern bloodsucker. It's a name that only has a mountain of rumours behind it, but no one truly knows how he got it. Some of them said that he killed his parents when he was a kid by ripping out their throats. Other rumours say that he drinks the blood of his victims. But one thing about this dude is true. He is ruthless and loves the hunt just as much as I do.
A strange feeling washed over me, sending pins and needles straight through my chest. Did he hire the Eastern bloodsucker just to find her? Or is there more to this? Did he hire him to hurt her while he watched? To make her suffer? I'll kill him. If he even takes a step in her direction, I will kill him. I turned away from him to hide the look on my face and grabbed a beer off the counter. Quickly cracking off the cap and taking a large swig. The small metal cap hit the floor with a satisfying clank. I stretched the muscles in my neck and took a breath before turning to face him again.
"I have plans I need to get to," I said, my face a mask of indifference.
"Plans? What is there to do in this town?" He asked while leaning back in his seat.
"I am having dinner with Cyber," I said reluctantly.
"Oh really." He said in a mocking tone.
It took a lot of effort not to react to his mocking. He crossed his arms as a coy smile formed slowly on his lips. I glared at him, but he only responded with a knowing smirk in place of his more irritating smile.
"Well, if you're going to be seeing her tonight, I might have brought something to help you get on her good side." He said, placing his elbows on the table.
Once again, I did not respond. Only took another swig of my beer before sitting back down in my chair. I watched him pull a small paper bag out from under the table and slide it over to me. With a heavy sigh, I reached into the bag and pulled out a thin, white, ten-inch box. A Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite sat in my hands, and I looked up at James, confused.
"Georgie picked it out. It's not the newest one out there, but according to him, it is one of the best ones. But we both know how he likes the older models." He said with a shrug.
"You want me to give her a tablet?" I asked, not caring what his answer would be.
"I was going to bring you some flowers or something like that, but Georgie nearly lost his head. Saying stuff like, she's like me, and you don't give people like me flowers." He said with a shake of his head.
"I might have just met the girl, but I believe Georgie might be right about that... She is not the flowers kind of girl." I said, slipping the box back into the bag.
"You should probably get over there before the food gets cold, I will come back in a day or two to check up on you." He said before standing.
"Say hi to Lisa for me." The sound of the door shutting echoed through the room.
I waited until his car pulled out of the drive before exiting the house myself. Anger still lurked under my skin as I walked over to Cyber's house with long strides. They won't touch her, I won't let them. She is mine.
My hands were full of Chinese food and the gift James had gotten when I approached the door. I thought of putting something down, but I really didn't want to. Gently kicking the door with my foot, I was almost surprised when the door opened within seconds. My eyes went wide for a moment, and I couldn't stop myself from glancing down at her chest. I stared for a moment before trying my gaze to the ground.
"OH, you're early… You can come in, I guess." Cyber said while stepping aside and gesturing for me to enter.
She had answered the door in a short bathrobe that was only lightly tied closed. Leaving a loose V down her chest, so much so that her full breasts were almost visible. A single breeze could have undone that robe. I can't say I wouldn't like to see that. Keeping my eyes on the ground, I stepped into the house and made the mistake of looking in her direction. My heart nearly stopped when I saw her bare feet against the hardwood floor. My eyes traveled slowly up her soft legs and along the length of her curves. Damn, she is fucking sexy as all hell. My cock jumped to attention.
"What's that?" She asked, pointing at the paper bag and snapping me out of my trance.
"Chinese food… and a gift." I stuttered my reply.
"OH? Well, since you're here early, would you like to watch a movie? I have a lot to choose from." She asked.
"Can't say no to a movie with dinner now can I?" I said, and to my surprise, she laughed.
"They are stored beside the TV. You can go pick one, and I am just going to go put some more clothes on.
"Need help?" I asked before I realized what I was saying.
She spun on her heel and laughed so hard I thought she might stop breathing. I swear I heard her wheeze out the word no before walking toward a room just past the kitchen. My eyes fell on her perfectly round butt as she disappeared behind the door.
Placing the food down on the coffee table, I walked over to the movies and grabbed the first one I saw. My hands were damp with sweat as I waited for her to come back. My eyes caught on a painting hanging on the wall beside the couch. To distract myself, I examined it more thoroughly. A full landscape of a bright green meadow with colourful flowers and a creek filled the canvas.
"Knight and Day… released in 2010; wow, I didn't take you to be into movies from ancient times." She said, her eyes showing the slightest hint of excitement.
"You like these kinds of movies?" I asked while attempting to keep my eyes on her face.
I didn't even notice her coming up behind me. She was stunning. Even in the light blue sweatpants and black tank top she had put on. The tank top was tight against her body, revealing every curve, and I had to keep myself from staring at her large breasts. I glanced down for a moment before forcing my eyes back to her face. Her tits were peaking through the black fabric. God damn she might be the death of me.
"Yeah, it's one of my favorites and is fairly hard to come by nowadays." She said before walking over to the DVD player and inserting the disk.
Before I could regain my head, she walked into the kitchen. I readjusted my cock in an attempt to hide my erection. Cupboards open and shut, and I thought I heard silverware being moved around. Nope, wasn't a thought, that is exactly what she was doing. She emerged from the kitchen holding a tray of plates, silverware, cups and what looked like a jug of some kind of juice.
"Thought these might come in handy." She said before placing the tray on the coffee table.
"OH, Yeah… this is for you." I said while holding out the tablet box.
I've never been good at giving gifts to anyone, let alone a woman. Her head snapped up to look at in my eyes. The surprise was in every feature in her face. The beginning credits of the movie flashed over the screen of her box TV. Her gaze went from surprise to analyzing as she continued to watch me in silence. After a long moment she reached out and took the box from me.
"These are expensive, I can't except." She said.
She tried to hand it back, but I only placed my hand on her shoulder.
"I won't take it back, I want you to have it." Was the only thing I said before sitting on her couch.
The look of surprise reappeared on her face. She sat beside me, placing the box gentle on the table, almost like she was afraid to break it. Her eyes landed on the TV as the last of the credits started to play. A small smile lifted at her lips, and I couldn't take my eyes off her. Leaning toward her, I gently took her hand and lifted her arm to get a better look at her tattoo. Her eyes landed on me as I examined the black and white ink covering her left arm. A dragon surrounded by flowers on one side and bones scattered along the opposite side. I looked up from where I was bent over her arm to see her checks flush a bright, beautiful red.
"What do you do for a living?" She asked, her arm going stiff in my hand.
"I... hurt bad people." I said softly.
I'm not ashamed of what I do, and I am very well known in the city for what I do. My name is feared amongst the worst groups within the city walls. Usually, I would have answered that question out right and bluntly. But looking at her now, the fear hiding behind her gaze. I don't want her to hate me. I don't want her to fear me.
"Are you planning to hurt me?" she asked.
Her whole body was stiff and froze in place. I shuffled closer to her and leaned in so I was only inches away from her ear. Letting my breath caress her skin for a moment. She didn't try to pull away, only placed her hand on my chest. I waited for her to push me away, but she never did. Her hand slid gently across my chest before stopping on my shoulder, making my cock push painfully against the zipper of my jeans. I want nothing more in this moment than to take her right here on this couch. But I can't... I won't take her like this, not this soon. I don't want her to think that's all I want from her.
"I would never hurt you, Cyber." I said softly.
The movie started playing, and I pulled away, turning my attention toward the television. Still sitting right beside her, I hung my arm over her shoulder. A minute went past before she put her legs up on the couch and leaned into me. Resting her had on my chest as she watched the movie.
