Chapter 134 - Chapter 134 Battlefield

Soon after, a gigantic bald eagle landed on a specially prepared 'airstrip'.

Jumping down from the eagle's back, Toshiro saw the familiar figure waiting for him and spoke, "Thank you for waiting, Sister Mika!"

"It's you who had the hard journey, Toshiro! How was it? Was the trip safe?"

Looking at the child she had watched grow up, Uchiha Mika felt a pang of heartache. The other party was still just a ten-year-old child, yet he already had to run back and forth for the family and the village. It made her, as an 'older sister', feel deeply pained.

"It's alright! During the journey, 'Zuoshandiao' flew very high, and there were no accidents..."

'Zuoshandiao' was the name Toshiro had given to his summoning beast. Ever since it gradually gained some intelligence, Toshiro had named it so, as a way to reminisce about his past life.

Yes, by this time, it had been three months since Toshiro first airlifted supplies. He hadn't expected that he would step onto the battlefield in such a manner.

Ever since the first successful delivery of supplies to the front line, this novel air transport method had gained the approval of everyone, including the clan leader.

This method truly had too many advantages!

Departing from the village, it took less than half a day to reach the destination successfully, and there was no need to dispatch additional 'security' personnel. How could it not make people addicted? Even the 'cargo rack' on Zuoshandiao had undergone several updates. Now, it had a huge 'carrying bag' securely bound to its central back with some sturdy ropes, covered with dense black seals.

This special 'carrying bag' was already the third iteration. Initially, the eagle's claws were directly used to grab the cargo, which evolved into a specially designed back 'carrying bag', and now, after further reinforcement, it also included seals with special purposes.

These seals primarily fixed a particular technique, specifically the famed Light-Heavy Rock Technique of the Iwagakure Village. During usage, Toshiro, as the summoning beast's master, would provide Chakra to alleviate the cargo weight, facilitating the transport of more supplies in one trip. Several experiments proved the method to be quite effective.

Although it couldn't achieve the Third Tsuchikage's level of completely ignoring gravity, the weight capacity had increased from one ton to three tons per trip, a significant improvement! Seeing some clan members who had already unloaded all the cargo, Toshiro removed the special 'carrying bag' from his summoning beast's back. He still needed to maintain it. After flying at such high altitudes for a long time, there was inevitable wear and tear that needed proper maintenance.

New things always come with small issues... Nodding to Zuoshandiao, the summoning beast didn't linger much longer and directly revoked the summoning technique, returning to the Forgotten Island.

Ever since Toshiro started doing 'sky transport', he began to train this large bird gradually. Although it couldn't speak yet due to the short training period, it had gained some basic intelligence.

In the ninja world, many summoning beasts could fly, but there were indeed very few flying summoning beasts with such enormous size as 'Zuoshandiao'. Part of it was due to the scarcity of such large species; not every place had unique geographical environments like the Forgotten Island. Furthermore, large birds were mostly carnivorous, which indirectly led to the rarity of large summoning beasts.

This was also why Toshiro could run back and forth between Konoha and the front lines so unrestrainedly.

"Sister Mika, how is Brother Akihiro doing?" Since he had contact with Sister Mika, he was somewhat aware of his brother-in-law's situation.

As they walked into the camp, Toshiro asked. After resting for a night in the village yesterday, there should not have been any changes.

Since Toshiro frequently shuttled between the camp and the village, it was inevitable that he was conscripted. He mainly handled the transportation of supplies. During his spare time, he would also help Sister Mika deal with minor injuries in the hospital.

Of course, his work was primarily within the Uchiha camp, particularly in the front-line hospital. Although Konoha had a unified medical system, it did not stop everyone from craving medical ninjas. Various families dispatched their medical ninjas to specifically serve their own families.

Even though the village had complaints about this, since everyone was doing it, even the Hokage couldn't do much except make life harder for the civilian ninjas. Meanwhile, they increased support for Tsunade... They could only hope to train more medical ninjas to alleviate the demand for medical personnel on the front lines.

Toshiro was pleased with being assigned to a medical position after arriving there. He had just begun 'body activation', which required significant Yang Release; every time he converted to Yang Release, he would struggle to keep up. The refining of Yang Release Chakra had always been his shortcoming. Despite his long-term focus, it was always behind his Yin Release progression.

With the opportunity to hone his medical ninjutsu while avoiding direct combat on the front lines, he had no reason to refuse.

Having a relatively safe and relaxed job on this battlefield was already quite fortunate.

Of course, he couldn't have done it without Sister Mika's help. She was now a prominent figure in the clan's medical field, and quite renowned even within the village. On the entire battlefield, all Konoha ninjas, when going on a mission, would carry three special medicines developed under Sister Mika's guidance.

One was a special hemostatic agent, another an anti-infection medication, and the third, a secret medicine to boost spirits in crucial moments.

These three medicines were now priced exorbitantly on the black market, almost impossible to obtain. Not only Konoha ninjas, but even those from other villages knew about a Uchiha medical ninja who developed three life-saving potions. Although there were corresponding research projects, they couldn't develop affordable, raw materials-demanding products quickly enough...
