Chapter 17 - "Where Are We Headed, Miss Amy?"

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

The constant motherly attention from Lady Yo had been suffocating, and Cherry felt like she was being treated like a child again.

At 31 years old, she wasn't used to being fussed over like this, maybe a little but not as much as this!

"How old is Amy, anyway?" Cherry wondered, trying to make sense of the whole thing.

She couldn't understand why Lady Yo was being so overprotective and controlling.

With Madam Yo finally out of the picture,it was easier for her to find methods to reclaim her life and identity, and she knew just where to start.

Her first priority was to find a spiritualist or magician who could help her unravel the mystery of her life and it's connection to Amy's life.

Lost in thought, she began to formulate a plan, her mind searched for possible places.

But her thought was short-lived, as she was jolted back to reality by the sound of her supposed name being called out repeatedly.

"Miss Amy! Miss Amy!!"

Paula's voice pierced, growing louder and more insistent.

Cherry snapped back to attention.

She hadn't grown accustomed to the name "Miss Amy"and a part of her still felt disconnected from it.

"Uhhh," she stuttered, her voice delayed as she slowly turned her attention to Paula.

"You mentioned earlier that we should set aside the old clothes for charity," Paula reminded her.

Cherry's mind was still foggy so she hesitated before nodding, "Umm, yes... I did.

But is there a specific place I should take them? Or could you just distribute them among the female staff?" Cherry suggested.

Okay, I'll take care of it. We'll be leaving now, Adios Miss Amy," Paula said and departed.

As soon as Paula bid her farewell, Cherry moved to the wardrobe and began to scan the laid out clothes.

She was searching for something simple and understated to wear, something that would allow her to blend in and move freely.

But as she checked deeper into the wardrobe, she was confronted with a plethora of outfits that made her cringe.

Mini skirts, tight-fitting dresses, and flashy tops - none of which resonated with her personal style.

She couldn't fathom how Amy, would have ever considered wearing such revealing attire. She was an actress anyway, much style is needed from her.

But she, she is just a Chef, and not used to that, the clothes was just tailored for a completely different trait that Cherry would struggle to embody.

Cherry hastily retreated to the room where Lady Yo had stayed during her visit, seeking refuge from the overwhelming array of clothes.

As she entered the room, she was struck by the warm and intimate atmosphere that permeated the space.

Her eyes landed on a stunning portrait of Amy and Lady Yo, positioned prominently at the far end of the room.

The portrait depicted Amy with her arms wrapped lovingly around Lady Yo's shoulders, both of them beaming with joy.

Cherry's thoughts whispered, "These two shared a deep affection for each other."

Her gaze then wandered to the numerous picture frames adorning the shelves and tables, each one showcasing cherished moments between Amy and Lady Yo.

As Cherry's gaze continued to wander around the room, she noticed a collection of framed photos on a nearby shelf, capturing memories of Amy's childhood at the beach.

The joy and laughter frozen in time only added to the enigma of Amy's life.

But amidst the warmth and happiness, Cherry's observant eyes detected a glaring absence - the lack of a father figure.

"Where could Amy's father be?" she wondered.

The photos told a story of a mother-daughter duo, with no hints of a paternal presence.

Shaking off the thought, Cherry refocused on her original mission.

She swiftly made her way to Madam Yo's wardrobe, searching for something more to her liking.

As she scanned the racks, she found a few outfits that resonated with her personal style - simple and elegant.

"Huh.. way better," she sighed a sigh of relief, selecting a comfortable-looking dress.

Fortune smiled upon Cherry as she discovered that Amy's body structure was remarkably similar to Lady Yo's, making it easy for her to find a comfortable fit in the older woman's clothes.

With her new attire, she swiftly exited the room, grabbed a handbag from Amy's quarters, and made a hasty retreat from the house.

As she emerged into the bright sunlight, she called out to Carlos, who was lingering in the workers' quarters.

The sound of his name summoned him promptly, and he appeared before her, his eyes widening in surprise.

"Amy?" he asked.

"What brings you out here at this hour, and what's with the new dress?"

Cherry's response was curt, her mind racing with the urgency of her mission.

"Don't ask too many questions, Carlos. I need you to take me somewhere. Now."

Her tone brooked no argument, and Carlos's eyes narrowed slightly as he nodded, sensing that something was amiss.

"Where are we headed?" Carlos asked, his eyes widening with curiosity, but Cherry's expression remained resolute.

"I said no questions, Carlos. I'll explain everything once we're away from here."

She urged him to hurry, but Carlos seemed more concerned with his appearance.

"Give me a minute, I need to grab the car keys," he said, disappearing from view.

Ten minutes ticked by, and Cherry's impatience grew.

Finally, Carlos emerged, looking dashing in a fresh outfit, but Cherry's frustration boiled over.

"What took you so long? I told you we needed to leave quickly, and you're worried about how you look?" She shot him a disapproving glance, her voice tinged with annoyance. "Come on, let's go!" she urged.

Carlos's comment earned him a withering look from Cherry.

"Who knows, Amy, you might want to take me out on a date," he said, his eyes sparkling with mischief.

Cherry's gaze traveled from his polished shoes to his sleek trousers, button-down shirt, and perfectly styled hair.

She let out a disapproving "Urrgh" before striding towards the car.

"Please, let's just go," she urged, her patience wearing thin.

In her haste, she stood beside the wrong vehicle, only realizing her error when Carlos pressed the key fob and the correct car emitted a brief "beep-beep" sound.

Flustered, Cherry quickly redirected herself to the right car, where Carlos was already holding open the door. She slid into the passenger seat, while Carlos entered the driver's side.

Carlos settled into the driver's seat, fastened his seatbelt, and let out a subtle sigh before turning to Cherry with a questioning gaze.

"Where are we headed, Miss Amy?"
