Groaning softly in mild annoyance, she sleepily popped one eye open, followed by the other, and glanced around the room, her focus immediately landing on Seravi.
Seravi stirred awake at that exact moment, her gaze meeting Maravi's.
"He's gone," Seravi muttered, her voice hoarse from sleep. She sat up abruptly, not bothering to cover her naked body as she pushed the sheets aside. Her eyes darted around the room as if searching for any signs of him.
"He's definitely close by. You can feel him too, can't you?" Maravi responded, a sly smile playing on her lips. She mentioned the connection they shared through the life-contract and the essence of Voldrak that they had directly assimilated into their cores. His presence was unmistakable, an unbreakable bond that tethered them to him.
