If Adam could kill her just with his gaze, Sadie would have long died by now, but here she was, standing and returning his gaze with equal intensity.
She was determined not to allow anyone else in. Sara was asleep and needed peace and quiet. People going in there would only bring unnecessary disturbance.
"Please leave, Mr Crawford," she said.
Adam sighed, drew in a deep and unclened his fists. "Who is your young miss?" he asked. Maybe he could be mistaken, or the nurses gave him the wrong address. Sara was not any family's young Miss.
"That is not to your concern, MrCrawford," she said, and he frowned again. What was wrong with this stubborn woman?
Inside, Sara frowned, hearing Adam's voice, and Sadie calling his name also confirmed it. What was he doing here? She thought, her gaze alternating between the door as if she could already see Adam and at the sleeping Alex.
