Alex returned home and was relieved to find Sara seated at the dinner table with Jordan. He stopped at a distance and watched them interact. Although Sara wasn't the same as she was fifteen years ago, she smiled less and was a lot colder. But the smile was still there.
Right now, all he saw was a broken woman seated and forcing herself to smile, trying to ease the worries of her father. In her eyes, he could see the emptiness in them. Nothing like what they used to be.
He took a step forward only to stop and take a second to look at him. There was nothing wrong with his clothes and hands, but he felt he needed to change clothes and a bath if that wouldn't make him late for a family dinner.
As he took his steps backward, the sound was heard by the duo at the table, and they both turned to look in his direction.
