Hearing the news, Danzo felt a rush of excitement and nearly jumped out of bed. He had known that Asuma Sarutobi was pregnant and was certain that it had something to do with Kirito. Before the Sarutobi, Uchiha, and Shimura clans were exterminated, Danzo had met with Kirito, although he wasn't exactly sure what the other man had done to him.
But after that encounter, Danzo's body had started reacting strangely. His abdomen swelled, and he experienced odd symptoms like nausea, dry heaving, and constant fatigue—symptoms that were more typical of someone pregnant than anything else.
Once the genocide took place, Danzo immediately had his Root medical ninjas examine him, and their findings were identical to Asuma Sarutobi's condition: there was another life inside him, growing slowly.
Danzo wasn't sure what Kirito's intentions were. Perhaps it was revenge, or maybe Kirito had a different plan in mind. However, considering the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy for the Shimura clan, Danzo decided to keep the child. What surprised him the most was the recent discovery of the child's abilities.
Now that the baby had been delivered safely, the idea occurred to Danzo—could this child signify the start of a new generation of Wood Release users in the Shimura clan?
"Danzo-sama, the child is healthy. Have you decided on a name?" Yamanaka, one of the Root's top jonin, interrupted his thoughts with the question.
Danzo glanced at the newborn child and after some consideration said, "Call her Shimura Mukai. She will be the next Hokage after me."
The next time Danzo had another child, he planned to name him Shimura Mukan. He would reserve a more fitting name for his third child, possibly something as grand as Shimura Ai-zan.
Meanwhile, Kirito, unaware of the potential consequences of his actions or that Danzo's child had inherited some of the First Hokage's cells, was now being called into a meeting with Konan.
"Do you have any issues with our organization?" Konan asked coldly, her eyes locked on Kirito as he lounged nonchalantly on her couch.
"No issues," Kirito replied, casually stretching as if he owned the place. "The organization provides food and lodging, the mission commissions are decent, and the members aren't half-bad to talk to. Honestly, I like it here."
"Then why did I hear you've been using your clones to finish missions while you slack off?" Konan's gaze sharpened, clearly displeased.
Earlier that day, after Kirito had left, Black Zetsu had wasted no time in reporting him to the leaders of Akatsuki. Obito, Konan, and Nagato were discussing their organization's plans when Black Zetsu brought up Kirito's behavior.
"I knew that clone of his was trouble," Obito muttered, rubbing his temples. "Nagato, any thoughts on how we handle this? If he's already cutting corners this early on, he might jeopardize our missions in the future, especially when it comes to capturing the tailed beasts."
Nagato, who was controlling Pain, thought about Kirito's power and the reports on his chakra reserves. After a moment, he offered a solution. "If you force him too much, it may backfire. He has a soft spot. Konan should talk to him—he respects her more than anyone else in the organization. That should straighten him out."
Obito tilted his head, skeptical. "Konan?"
"Think about it," Nagato replied. "He defected from Konoha for a woman. No one but Konan is allowed to enter his quarters without his permission. If anyone can convince him, it's her."
Obito nodded, conceding to the point, and turned to Konan. "Then I'll leave this to you."
"Understood," Konan had responded with her typical cold composure.
And so, here they were, with Kirito lying across Konan's couch, clearly unconcerned.
"Tch, Black Zetsu again," Kirito sighed.
Konan continued, "You're a capable ninja with a vast amount of chakra, but there are limits to what your shadow clones can handle. You've been provided with everything you need—missions, resources—so it's only fair that you take your assignments seriously. The organization won't interfere with your personal life, but when you are on duty, you must be fully committed."
Kirito, groaning slightly, finally responded, "Alright, alright. I'll track down Black Zetsu tomorrow and complete the mission myself. Does that work for you?"
"That will suffice," Konan nodded. She then added, "Before you go, if you have any requests, the organization will consider them, provided they're reasonable."
"A request?" Kirito perked up, a mischievous glint in his eyes. He leaned forward, looking Konan up and down. "Well, how about you being my teammate?"
"Me?" Konan blinked in surprise, taken aback by the unexpected request. "Why?"
"I mean, who wouldn't want to team up with you? You're far better than being stuck with some weirdo who likes to rat people out," Kirito complained, referring to Black Zetsu.
Konan couldn't help but smile a little. Flattery was flattering, even if it came from someone like Kirito. "It's not possible. I already have a partner, and I'm needed to help the leader manage the organization. You'll have to wait for your next teammate."
Three months later, Kirito stood on a cliff overlooking a bandit stronghold. Without hesitation, he performed a quick hand seal.
"Fire Style: Head-on Charge!"
A massive flame erupted from his mouth, engulfing the entire stronghold in a sea of fire, reducing the hundred bandits below to ash.
From behind him, Black Zetsu's voice rang out, "Quite the straightforward approach, Kirito. You've really taken to Kakuzu's techniques."
Kirito turned to see Black Zetsu emerging from the ground. "It's just a basic B-rank jutsu, nothing impressive." He grimaced, clearly irritated. "By the way, where's my new partner? And don't tell me I have to work with you again. I'd much rather have Konan as my teammate. She's easier on the eyes than you."
"Konan is the leader's partner. You'll need to be patient," Black Zetsu replied calmly.
Kirito sighed in frustration, yawning. "Alright, what's the next mission?"
"Tansho Street," Black Zetsu handed him a scroll.
