In a rundown apartment, Attorney Helen Lockwood found herself in a perilous situation. She was abducted from her office an hour ago and is now threatened by the client's henchman. They sought revenge for giving their client a prison sentence.
"Now then, Miss Lockwood, you have refused our earlier offer." Her captor sneered "So we've drawn up a new one for you..."
Helen felt the rope around her neck tighten slightly, she started to sweat profusely as she realized that these villains were not playing around... and whatever their offer was, she'd have very little choice but to accept!
There was a knock on the door. The captor tried to check it out. Maybe it was just his minion trying to disturb his moment. He opened the door, and from there, he sees the suppressor pointing at him before it flashed. The captor tried to comprehend what just happened before he realized he'd been shot in the head.
Helen looked in shock as her captor fell down dead. Then, another man, wearing a white mask and his trademark skull cap entered the room. It was none other than Varna. He entered the room, stepping over the corpse before dragging it inside, locked the door, and locked eyes with Helen.
The young attorney was scared out of her mind by Varna's appearance. Something told her he was not the knight in shining armor sent to rescue her! He had a folder in his hand as he sat down.
"Helen Lockwood, District Attorney, you really have a reputable job"
Helen listened carefully. This man knew of her... but who on earth was he? And what was in that folder he was holding?
Opening the folder, he read the contents.
"Two years ago, you defended a client accused of running a crime ring. Your defense won the case and the client was proven not guilty"
Varna's eyes were filled with disgust looking at Helen. It was as if he knew something about her that made him look that way.
"Do you even regret defending him?" he asked as he took off her gag
Helen looked at Varna, fear in her eyes.
"All the evidence pointed towards my client being innocent! There was nothing that justified holding him in prison!"
"Perhaps you're right, and thanks to you, that client of yours went on a crime spree and my friend got killed trying to take it down from the inside."
He stood up and tugged the rope connecting to her neck. Helen was strangled in a fit of rage before Varna let go of the rope.
"What's worse, my friend got killed not because of him, but because your friends butted in on his case and made him blow his identity!!" he berated her
Varna was about to pull the trigger on Helen when something flashed through his mind. It was a memory of him kissing Rebecca during that time he saved her-and left her tied up and gagged. This made him drop the gun.
Helen truly thought that she was done for, that she was going to die here.
"Consider yourself lucky I made a promise to Rebecca not to kill her friends." he assured her
She was quietly grateful that he had made a promise to Rebecca... Perhaps the heiress could bring this man into the light, though she'd have her work cut out for her...
"However, she didn't say anything about hurting them either" he added, putting the gag back on her mouth.
Varna returned to the folder and picked the picture up. He then picked another picture from his jacket and showed it to Helen.
"Take a look at your client before" he said, flashing the picture from the folder. It was a bald, muscular man with tattoos in his shoulder.
"This is your client now" he flashed another picture, this time it was the same picture he showed to Rebecca. Helen squirmed in her chair and tried to avert her eyes. That picture made Helen realize how cruel Varna can be
He then brought out his headphones and his recorder from his bag. He placed the headphones into Helen and turned it on, then he had it connected to the recorder.
From there, he had it play everything that happened in that spree. Starting from his client yelling in pain, the recording transitioned into that time Rebecca was screaming from the gunshots. It then transitioned thrice, recording different occasions: Erin's screams as he broke her knee caps, Ophelia's loud yells when she sliced into her leg, and lastly, Emma's muffled cries of terror as she witnessed Varna killing her former captor in a brutal fashion.
The recording goes on in a loop while Helen screams in horror. Unable to bear the blood-curdling screams, she passed out from sheer terror. Varna left the building, leaving behind the headphones and the recorder
Helen would be tormented by the recording for a long time, until she was finally freed.
The experience left the young attorney in shock, but grateful to be alive…
