We move closer and walk around the electric fence that has the power to kill a D-grade person within minutes. We are circling to find an opening or an elevated ground where we can jump over the fence and go in.
As we are searching, we also see a few groups of people roaming around just like us, trying to find a way to enter the valley. We are almost on the verge of loosing hope to find a way as it has been more than three hours we started searching the entrance and we can't continue like this.
"Well, Hello there!" We hear an excited voice from the other side of the fence and turn to see who it is as the voice was familiar to us, but the sound of the electric fence made it difficult to recognize. I turn towards the voice and opened my jaw in shock, It was my old trainer and the new team leader Jack with another person wearing the defense corp uniform.
"Fancy to see you guys. What are you guys doing here?" He asks us with a smile. Being caught red handed, I didn't know what to say, but just looked at the ground trying to avoid his piercing eyes.
Dawn stepped up not knowing who it is and probably thinking of him as a friend says "We were just looking around." To which he replies with a mocking tone "Oh..! Really?"
I wish I could say something to diffuse the situation, but I am not sure what to say. I think for a few seconds and say "I am sorry team leader, we were bored because of the 1 week rest period, so I decided to explore the valley and sneaked out." I say truthfully as I was the one who gathered them.
Jack looks at me and says "Thanks for being truthful Alex, I knew you guys will come here." which not only surprised me, but also surprised Sylas and Snowfa. Coming out of the initial shock of realizing the team leader, Dawn gains her composure and says "It was my idea to venture the Death Valley, not his."Trying to help me.
"Relax Dawn, you don't have to take the blame. It was my idea to go for hunting and I am not going to let you take the blame." I tell her with a stern look which makes her to close her mouth and stay quiet.
"So, you are Dawn, glad to meet you young lady." Jack says and comes close to the electric fence. The other man who was still standing quietly next to Jack clicked a few buttons on his watch and the electric fence hummed and opened a small way through which we can go in easily.
I am not sure if he has opened it for him to come out or for us to go in. I just look at Jack who sees me with a smile, waving his hand and says "Well, what are you waiting for? Get in." To which Sylas and Snowfa excitedly run passing us in a hurry to the other side of the fence.
I look at Jack with caution as nothing comes for free in this world. As if understanding what I am thinking, he says "I already knew you will be coming here, you are too eager to grow and this is one of the best places for you guys to experience the wilderness."
"I have been waiting for you guys for two days now and I am glad my assumption is not wrong." He adds looking at Sylas and Snowfa. "You knew?" I ask with clear shock and surprise in my voice to which he just nods.
With my plan out in the open, I look an Dawn and give her a gesture to go ahead and walked close to her entering the Death Valley. I can feel my heart beating in excitement and feel like it wants to jump out and run into the valley immediately.
With our team leader in our midst, I don't have to worry about the monsters that are roaming around. He is more than powerful and capable of protecting us if the situation demands it.
I look at the man in the defense corp uniform, he looks like a sturdy man of twenty five years old and is having a silver hair with green eyes. "Oh! He is my brother, Nolan." Jack introduced the man in defense uniform to us after seeing me looking at him with caution.
"It is good to meet you Alex, Snowfa and Sylas. You are from the Mazin city, aren't you Miss. Dawn?" Nolan greets us and asks Dawn with curiosity in his eyes to which she just nods. I can see a hint of pride on her face.
"It is nice to finally meet the Blue Angel of Fire, my lady." He says to Dawn and bows to show respect. I can sense he is at Low-D grade, still he is bowing to a girl who is just sixteen years old and is at Low-E grade which surprises me and others.
"You don't have to do that, my boyfriend doesn't like it." Dawn says with a smile looking at me from the corner of her eyes. I wish she can stop doing it as Sylas and Snowfa seeing what's happening are unable to hold their laugh.
"Oh! I am sorry. I didn't know that." He says looking at me with a smile which didn't reach his eyes that are throwing daggers at me. I look at Jack who grabs Nolan saying "Don't test the kid brother, he is very talented and you will regret it."
Hearing that Nolan looks at me with clear surprise in his eyes which I ignore and ask Jack "Why were you waiting for us, here?" to which he replies "Someone has to watch your back when you are in the Death Valley, right?"
"You are allowing us to enter the Death Valley?" Snowfa asks unable to control her excitement to which he says "I am not allowing, but bringing you in with me for training." He says and looks behind where I can see a few silhouette coming towards.
