Chapter 10 - 10: Which Male Lead Would Be Better?

The day is near it's end as I am jotting down notes, not over the discussion currently occuring, but at the Heroine's Demise and it's love interests. As I write down Nomase's name into 'Prideful Cinderella' I list down the percentage chance of how sane he could be.'Well, thinking it over with Nomase. The only problem with him is he's too prideful because of his upbringing.' I think back to Nomase who tried to talk down to Raven's skirt that's just the same as everyone.'Though.. being brought in by the principal to take over a major role would definitely alienate him from the rest since it's hardwork to get to, while he was just dragged into a responsibility he probably didn't even want.' I tap the pen softly on the notebook as the discussion continues at the background.'In his route, I chose all the most affectionate options that could side in his favor, but.. in the end I reached a bad ending since he couldn't trust me thanks to the rumors that his fiancee tells him.' I rub my chin with my pen as I think about my previous gameplay.'Ah, right. The fiancee. I haven't encountered her yet, but I'm sure once I do, I'll be able to tell. She's got a long blonde hair and blue eyes in the game after all.' I think before proceeding onto the next one. With Eugene in mind, I wrote down 'Pompous Jerk' as his description on my note.'As much as I wanna try to see the good in someone, he's just straight up irredeemable.' I sigh and cross out 'Pompous Jerk' off the list.'Giving him any words of affirmation just enables his behavior. Which is being the rude brat that he is.' I think about it as I remember his bad ending that just let him stay the same rude brat that he is in the game.Looking into the note again, I wrote down 'Stalker' with Rogue in mind. But somehow, I was a little hesitant so I crossed it out and changed it to 'Muscle For Brains' as I ponder.'Although he did followed Raven in the game, depending on the choices, he will either keep his distance but still think of her or follow her to protect her. So really.. out of all the guys, he's tolerable.' I sigh heavily.'But, if only he can tone down his stalker-like behavior, maybe he would be the best bet. After all, the only ending with him was getting him arrested after finding out that the heroine is getting harassed and bullied in school.'I close my eyes gently as I think about the description in the game.'He beat up one student out of rage and was caught on by the police who tried to pin Rogue down. Bad Ending.''It would be helpful if Rogue could learn to control himself.. ' I think over and move on to the next one. With Axel next in line, I wrote down 'Pest' out of anger.'Being chased by women, getting harassed by women, breaking women's heart. He is an All-in-one sh*t wonder. But, his route was the closest to getting a good ending.'"Axel: You're a little too desperate, don't you think? Why don't we slow it down and take our time to get to know each other?"Those were his lines as he rejected Raven in the bad ending.'It was probably the least bad ending since they kept in contact unlike the other three.' I think over as I look at the note with all the list written down.'Guess we'll just have to make better choices on how to approach Axel. But.. ' I glance at Raven who continues to listen to the discussion.'Seeing as how Raven reacted to Axel, will it be even possible to get them to be together.' I sigh.'I mean, I can't just tell her. "Hey! If you get together with him, you'll be happy and I'll be free, probably!" It wouldn't really be a happy ending if she's just forced to win it over with Axel. But, luckily though Axel is interested in her. Or.. maybe that's just how he is to every girl except me, his personal minion.' I think over and ruffle my hair in a mess as I get frustrated.'Argh, none of these guys are normal. What if even if I give the heroine a good ending, I'm still suck here. Wouldn't that suck super hard? Oh god.. ' I rest my head against the desk and feel my anxiety getting the better of me.'Should I run to the nurse's office and spend the rest of my life there?' I ponder as I feel like running away from everything."KRIIINGG!" The last bell rings, signalling everyone that class is over.As the professor leaves, everyone starts packing and talking to each other.I sit up slowly as I sigh with a defeated expression on my face."Estelle, are you ready to go to work?" Raven says as she holds her bag diligently while I look at her."Work..?" I muttered, unsure how to react."You know, the one you applied to. We went to that cafe together last week, remember?" Raven says with a soft smile."... L-last week..?" I said in a confused and surprised tone.'How am I supposed to know something that's not in the game script?!' I panicked as I watch Raven look at me in confusion."I-i almost forgot, haha.. alright, let's go." I say as I get off my seat and follow alongside Raven with a nerve-wrecking feeling in my chest.'Am I gonna do okay? It's a cafe, so maybe it will be.' I think deeply as I try to reassure myself. As we head on our way out the classroom, we continue onto the path leading outside the school building and before we knew it, we are already making our way in the middle of the sidewalk.Raven leads the way as we head towards the café. I try to keep my cool, even though I have no clue what to expect.'It's a café, so how hard could it be? Just smile, greet customers, take their orders, and bring them their food.' I continue to think it over as Raven keeps walking.'Right.. I can do this.' I pep talk to myself, trying to keep calm.Raven glances at me, sensing my nervousness. "You okay?" She asks softly."Y-yeah, I'm fine." I reply, trying to keep my voice from wavering. But on the inside, my mind is racing. Will the café be busy? Will the customers be friendly? Will my boss be understanding if I make a mistake? As we arrive at the café, I take a deep breath. "Here goes nothing." I mutter to myself. To my surprise, I was dumbstruck.I stand rooted to the spot, completely taken aback. It was a cat cafe where customers sit around and let the cats wander around the area.'A cat cafe .. with real cats roaming around..'I can feel my eyes widening and my mouth hanging open slightly. I quickly shake my head to clear my thoughts."What's wrong? You don't seem too happy to be here." Raven mutters as she looks at my shocked expression."I-I'm fine.. just surprised, that's all." I stammer, trying to sound nonchalant. In truth, I was ecstatic to be surrounded by so many adorable cats."Hmm? Ah, I thought there are new customers but it was just you two." The seemingly bright atmosphere enters within the room as a middle aged man walks in with a vibrant smile."Manager, good afternoon." Raven greets the manager that I'm meeting for the first time."Hmm? What's wrong Estelle? You seem to be in a daze?" The manager guy asks me as I was still in the middle of processing everything.I quickly snap out of my daze and attempt to regain my composure."Oh, ah, I'm fine.. just.. I love cats." I manage to stutter out, still a bit taken aback. The manager chuckles heartily, clearly amused by my reaction. "You definitely came to the right place then. We have lots of adorable felines here."The bell chimes in and when we look back it was two customers who are intrigued and happy to see the cats that are wandering in the cafe. "Wow, it's so nice here.""You two should get changed. Since it's Friday night, there would be a bunch of people." The manager chuckles and goes on to serve the two customers that just came in."Let's go to the changing room, Estelle. " Raven says as she leads the way.I nod curtly, still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I'm gonna be spending my time surrounded by cute, fluffy cats.I follow Raven to the changing room, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. As soon as we enter, I begin putting on the café uniform- a simple white shirt and black apron- making sure everything is in place."So like, I invited both of us to do this, right-- ah." As I was trying to make sure how me and Raven ended up working at the cat cafe, I see her black lace bra as she is unbuttoning her white long sleeves.'HOLY.' I avert my gaze in a hurry as I panic internally.Despite being in a girl's body, it is still surprising to see someone else stripping next to me."Well, you certainly saw this while we were on our way to the train station together, and since then I've been working on it and then you tagged along the following day to apply as well." Raven says calmly as she puts her long sleeves to the locker and change into the cafe's uniform as well.My face flushes a deep shade of red as I hastily avert my gaze. "Y-yeah, I.. ah.. I remember." I stammer awkwardly.Although I knew Raven had a great body, the sight of her undressing without a care in the world has me feeling a little flustered. I try to discreetly avoid looking in her direction while discreetly stealing glances, feeling my heart beat faster."Right.." I mutter, unsure how to breathe for a moment. In a split moment, Raven closes her locker and leans to me with her hand resting on her waist."Are you okay? You seem to be spacing out. Maybe you can take a break for today? I'll let the manager know if you want me to." Raven says with a calm demeanor as she looks at me softly.I jump slightly at the sudden closeness, heart still racing. I can feel a bead of sweat trickle down my forehead."Ah, n-no, I'm okay." I manage to muster, my voice still a bit shaky. "I-I can handle it."Although the sight of Raven leaning in so close to me is making it hard to focus, I force myself to stay calm."Alright, just make sure you don't overwork yourself." Raven gently before smiling at me.As Raven leaves the changing room, I exhale a breath I didn't realize I was holding and press my palms to my hot cheeks in an attempt to cool them down.'Why does she have to be so.. hot?' I think to myself. Her casualness when changing in the same room with me was completely effortless, while I am here trying hard to keep my cool.'Get a grip on yourself..' I mentally told to myself.Once I managed to cool down, I make my way to check in on the customers.I watch as Raven confidently greets the customers and takes their order. Her friendly demeanor puts them at ease and the cats seem to be attracted to her, too.Watching her work with such ease only makes me more aware of my own nervousness. I hover nearby, observing quietly, trying to calm myself down.'This will be a long day of learning.' I think to myself as I prepare myself mentally on my first time of working in a cat cafe.TO BE CONTINUED
