Minni, a girl, with an average appearance. An average family background. An average learning and sports ability.
No matter what it is, Minni has never been able to escape the word average or ordinary since she was a child.
Her life was a paperbook example of some passer by character in a novel. The one whose life passes by, having no effect on anything or anyone around them. (Much like my readers lol)
After all these years, the next phase for her should be to finish school normally, find a boyfriend step by step (cuz yeah every girl even ordinary ones can get those. Unlike us boys, who need to be something special to get that girl😭), find an ordinary job, get married, have children, and live an ordinary life till she's old and then die….
See, what I meant when I said ordinary.
Even her parents, relatives, and friends - no one expected anything more from her. As long as she could live her own life and not be a burden, that was all that they wished.
Obviously there is nothing wrong with this kind of life. After all, even if she's ordinary, there are still many people who are not as good as her.
Although her family background is average, they have no debts and can occasionally buy the things she wants.
Although Minni herself is disappointed with her life and occasionally felt dissatisfied, she could still accept it. Only if she hadn't seen those people standing under the spotlight. Those who did nothing, but had the world revolve around them.
A friend circle which she started in kindergarten, which a new girl joined months later. But the new girl with her fancy dress and pretty smile stole everyone's attention. Making her feel like air, whose presence didn't even matter.
A genius boy in elementary school, on whom she had a major crush. But the boy in question was more happy following and licking a different girl. Even if that girl didn't give him any good looks, instead of accepting her love.
In high school, under high-intensity exam pressure, while she had to desperately squeeze her time for study and sleep, some random idiotic genius who slept in classes could easily surpass her.
The university that should've valued her hard earned scholarship, ignored no chance to make her feel inferior, by giving those rich roommates more preference.
But there was nothing she could do to struggle.
These situations are not because she didn't work hard or put in enough effort, but because even after giving her everything she's so ordinary, so replaceable.
However, just when she gave up her pursuit of life and recognized the word ordinary as her fate, she received praise for the first time.
"Wow, Minni, I asked you why you always eat so little recently. It turns out that you are saving money to feed them. You are so kind." Her roommate said, when she saw her feeding a cat.
For the first time, Minni learned that compliments could actually make her mood so happy that her heart surged up and down like ocean waves.
Even though the real reason she was saving money was to buy an expensive bracelet. And the cat food she threw out was something some other girl gave her.
From then on, Minni walked on the road of kindness. However, her ordinary family background cannot always support her kind dedication, so she learned moral kidnapping.
Using grand words to push others and emotionally blackmail them, make them feel bad, and herself an angel.
"Look, she's so pitiful. Her dad had an accident last month, so she can't pay her fees. But your family is so rich, can you please donate some money."
"Naina, look how much our classmate Sunny likes you. He has spent so much time confessing to you. Can't you atleast give him a chance?"
"You're still a college student, why do you care about such things? He's so pitiful. Even the whole class is making fun of him now. Just go on a date, if you don't like him then you can refuse openly."
"Leon, our school is going on a trip, your dad has a hotel in that area. Can you ask him to arrange some breakfast for our class? It'll lower the burden on our teachers."
Although many people scolded Minni behind her back for what she did. Calling her a bitch and white lotus and what not. But she was very smart and always carried out moral kidnappings in front of many people. She was sure that they would not refute her for the sake of reputation and face.
She didn't pay anything, but she actually got the reputation of an angel. As time passed more and more people started praising her.
She even became a small Internet celebrity because of this, standing in the spotlight like those she once envied.
So facing Damian, she subconsciously made a request.
"Brother, can you save these poor people?"
However, Damian ignored her and walked out as if he didn't hear her.
Minni couldn't help but feel a little angry when she saw this, but it didn't matter, it wasn't the first time she encountered this kind of indifferent people, and she knew how to deal with these people the best.
"Why are you so unloving? Those are a dozen lives. Even a mother and her kid daughter. The few zombies blocking their door are nothing to you. If you don't save them, they'll die. That'll be an indirect murder. So please, save them."
Minni pointed to a shop not far away. The first floor there was blocked by cars. There were a few survivors on the second floor, and zombies were surrounding the shop below.
This time, hearing her words, Damian stopped.
'Humph just as I guessed.' Minni thought that her words had an effect, and continued talking with an even more generous tone..
"As long as you can save those poor people, we will all be grateful to you. You're so strong, I know that you don't know them, but you can't just ignore them, right? We're all moral people, so…"
"Moral?"
"Yes, I believe you are a kind person. If you help us now, we will help you in the future. That's the only way we, humans can survive this disaster, don't you think so?"
"Hehe, hehe." Damian couldn't help but shake his head. It was so familiar and such a stupid thing to say. So stupid that it made him break out in laughter. "Ahaha ahahha hahha"
"You agreed, I knew you'd help us." Taking his smile as a sign of agreement, Minni couldn't help but puff up her chest excitedly. She's literally too good at this game.
'God, why am I so kind.' She thought sarcastically as she already imagined how grateful those people would be to her when they were rescued and learned the truth.
This was a life-saving grace, and maybe those two handsome guys she saw in the window would also fall in love with her, or maybe she can fool this strong guy to be her follower.
Minni was immersed in excitement and became more and more enthusiastic as she spoke. She didn't even notice Damian's cold eyes and the surging murderous intention that was enough to cool down the air around her.
That's when she felt a hand press against her head and __ "Bang!"
After the severe feeling of weightlessness, pain as if her skull was broken suddenly burst out. Her throat deflated directly, as blood kept spurting from her mouth.
"You talk about love and morality, good guys and bad guys. You really remind me of a rather unpleasant fellow." Damian grabbed Minni's hair and pulled her up from the ground.
Her hair made a snapping sound, but she couldn't feel the pain at all, because the pain of her face hitting the ground had covered up the pain of her scalp being torn.
The incident happened suddenly, and no one even reacted. It wasn't until Damian picked up Minni, whose face was covered with blood, that someone subconsciously screamed.
What greeted him next was a prismatic ice crystal that penetrated his throat.
"Whoever moves, dies."
Murderous sounds swept across the room, and people closed their mouths tightly, fearing that they would end up screaming, and anger the demon in front of them. However, it backfired, and their teeth continued to chatter under fear.
Damian pulled Minni close while ignoring her wails of pain, and threw her to the door of the store. While waving his sword and killing the two zombies attracted by the sound.
"Let's play a game. And before you ask, you have to participate..."
Damian looked around at everyone. Under his intimidation, no one dared to say the word "no".
"The game is called a hero's choice." Damian said, trying to suppress his raging bloodlust as that stupid girl's ideal words reminded him of Arthur. "To make it simple, there's only one rule in this game. And that is, only one of you can live."
"If you choose to live by yourself, I will kill everyone else. But if you choose to let them live, I will break your arms and legs, and then throw you into the zombie group downstairs."
Damian looked at Minni, who couldn't stop trembling, and raised the corners of his mouth slightly. "Let's start with you."
