The three behemoths barreled through the forest charging towards Atlas' location. While they weren't nearly as smart as humans, they weren't without basic sense either. With their comrade's marker having disappeared, they knew this tiny creature they had previously paid no mind was dangerous. It had killed not only one, but two of their comrades. This was enough to put them on high alert, but simultaneously Ogres weren't the type to backdown from a fight.
Eventually the Ogres appeared before the human. They raised their clubs up high and struck towards him. Seeing this Atlas' eyes fluttered ever so slightly. He then dashed to the side and into the forest.
"BOOM!"
Their collective attack merely hit the ground. Dust billowed, and the Ogres looked around in confusion. It seemed that the tiny being managed to avoid their attack. Immediately they found his marker and followed him into the forest as fast as they could.
"RAHHH!"
One of the Ogres called out in dismay as they entered. Their comrade lay there lifelessly. The Ogres were used to death, especially on the battlefield, but this still pained them.
"Rahh! Garahaa! Tahakaa!" An Ogre warned as he looked around. They had lost the tiny being's marker, and at this distance it was harder to find. Naturally the marker was dimmer the closer to the target they were, otherwise they'd be blinded upon fighting one another. The Ogre looked around, left and right, even behind them but it was no where to be seen.
"Fshh, fshhh."
Above them the tree leaves rustled. Hearing this almost instinctively the Ogre looked up and there he saw it. A blade piercing down from the sky, right into his eye and through his brain. In an instant he died and immediately Atlas pulled out his sword pushing off the corpse and making his escape.
The two remaining Ogres looked on in shock and rage. This tiny being had used their comrade's corpse to distract them and then pounce from above! How despicable! Without another thought the two chased after Atlas, clubs in hand, if they couldn't kill Atlas today then they weren't Ogres!
'Everything is going as planned. Now that they're following me around I'll just run somewhat into the forest and then loop around to absorb the essence. Realistically I'll then have to fight two on one.' With this idea in mind, Atlas kept running deeper into the forest, the Ogres in tow. Eventually he looped around back to the fresh corpse.
Fortunately the Ogre's Essence was still intact floating above it. He was worried that the Ogres would have a method to absorb or destroy it, which is why he didn't press on the offensive and chose to lead them away. Grabbing the essence, Atlas immediately felt a transformation throughout his body. This one was the greatest change he had felt thus far, almost like it was a qualitative leap of sorts.
'Its time!' Atlas than scanned his surroundings and locked onto the two approaching red markers. He then rushed towards them. In less than a minute he spotted his enemies, and they spotted him. Man versus Ogre. Ogre versus Man.
"RAGHHHHH!"
They cried out in unison before closing the gap between them and Atlas. Likewise the young man didn't stop his forward momentum and kept running towards them. The Ogre on his left then swung its club towards him in a diagonal motion. Atlas than jumped to the right, and like clockwork the other Ogre's club came crashing down towards him. This was the most precarious situation he had been in yet. There was no chance to dodge, no escape, he only had one option. Atlas held his sword up positioning the flat of the blade to block the club as he supported it with his left hand.
"BOOM!"
"SCHINKKKK!"
The first attack hit the ground causing dust to billow. On the other hand the second hit Atlas' sword, and the young man was, unharmed. His feet had pressed into the ground, and his body felt a bit rattled, but he could block the blow! Seeing this Atlas' eyes widened. As did the Ogre's. How was this possible?
Atlas was in awe of his own capabilities, but he knew he couldn't stop here. Their attacks had failed and now it was his turn to go on the offensive. He dashed forward stabbing his sword towards the Ogre's belly. Seeing this the Ogre didn't know how to react and simply dropped its club while hopping backwards. At first it didn't think the tiny being capable of harming him unless it was a weak spot, but now he was confident it could.
This barely caused Atlas' attack to miss, and the other Ogre who had now stabilised swung horizontally towards the young man's head. Naturally with his senses he picked up on this and crouched down dodging the blow. He then switched targets onto this Ogre dashing towards it from his low down position. The Ogre which was now off balance due to the swing, coupled with Atlas' much greater speed allowed him to slice off the Ogre's right foot before it could react.
It then stumbled, before falling to the ground wailing in pain. Seeing its now crippled comrade, the unarmed Ogre looked on in shock its eyes bloodshot. Without any hesitation it swung its fist towards Atlas. Unfortunately for it, their attacks were already too slow in Atlas' eyes, it was only through coordinated efforts could they hope to land a blow and they had already wasted that chance.
Tilting his head to the side the punch completely missed. Atlas then closed the distance once again before jumping up and piercing his sword from the bottom of the Ogre's jaw through the top of its skull. Blood splattered onto Atlas' face the fourth Ogre was now dead, and the fifth lay on the ground crippled.
Pulling out his sword he then landed on the ground and then swiftly moved towards the fifth Ogre who was writhing in pain. Without another thought the young man moved towards its head and penetrated its skull ending its life. Fifth Ogre killed.
"Its finished."
