In the dark of the night surrounded by fire, blood, chaos and screams of people there laid a man. He wasn't breathing and there wasn't anything differentiating him from rest of the corpses. No the expression on his dead face were different while others were full of terror or fright he had a smile as if he had welcomed death. A sword penetrated his heart but his hands were trying to hug the sword as one would hug their lover while the blood that dripped from his raised hands dripped on a stone on his neck. The remaining sword was surrounded by a red ribbon looking like a made up sheath.
Suddenly the stone on his neck started glowing dimly. No one noticed as the dim light of the stone floated outside and started gently floating inside his head. After a few seconds the already dim light disappeared completely. A miraculous scene appeared as the red ribbon completely covered the sword and the sword slowly sunk in his body and completely disappeared. A small magic circle formed in front of him as if calling to him to enter a new world for a new beginning and forget all that happened in this world be it good or bad.
The man eyelashes fluttered as if awakening from a deep slumber as if he had heard the magic circle's request. He heard a small voice whispering 'please please please' desperately and he felt his heart ache a bit well it might be because he was stabbed there or because of the desperation of the imaginary voice. He opened his eyes which looked greyish white and dead which he technically was. Looking at the already small magic circle which was struggling to not become even more smaller but was failing, he felt as if he would lose something very important if the circle lost it power. Without a second thought he raised his hand and tried to hold the magic circle in his hands and whispered 'yes' in a hoarse voice as a reply but no sound came out of his mouth. The second his hand touched the circle he disappeared from that place. Away from all the blood, chaos and war towards where the voice was and hopefully the new beginning that he was promised. So he closed his eyes as he began his new journey. Before closing his eyes the last scene he saw was that he was travelling through darkness with tiny dots of light circling around him joyfully and finally entering his body. His last thought was 'so cute' before giving up the struggle and losing consciousness feeling a sense of security being surrounded by the small light dots.
In front of the magic circle stood a thin young boy of maybe four or five years old. Looking at the magic circle which was becoming smaller he heard a voice saying 'please please please' desperately he didn't know how he heard that small voice over the loud sound of his heartbeat maybe because the voice sounded as desperate as he felt. It was a feeling he had never felt before his short life not when he was hungry or when the kids threw stones at him or when he was trying to forge something to eat and encountered a ferocious beast and was almost eaten or when he was almost frozen into a popsicle in winter or when he almost drowned when he was trying fetch water. This feeling was a bit different as if he would lose something very important the moment the magic circle closed so he used all his strength he didn't know existed and tried to delay it from closing even if for a few seconds. He didn't realize that there were tears in his eyes his small face was very pale and covered with sweat. His thin body shaking as he lost the strength to stand and his raised hands which were supporting the magic circle were trembling but his effort were useless as the magic circle still closed and when it did his eyes lost the tiniest bit of hope. He fell on his knees his small palms scraping the ground and bleeding but he didn't voice any pain. Looking at his eyes they were void of any emotion no sadness, anger or rage at having failed to summon.
Around him there were cheers and cries as some succeeded in summoning powerful companions and some summoned weak summons and some failed to summon any. The ones who failed to summon any were dejected knowing their future was going to be filled with hardships. The ones whose summons were weak were stuck in the between happiness and sadness. Happy that they had a summon and a chance to become stronger and sad because their future was also filled with hardships but in a different way. The few who summoned strong summons were very happy while they were sad that some of their companions failed they vowed to become stronger faster and protect their village and home and become like the heroes who had protected them. The elders of the village and the parents were going around and consoling the one the who failed while the village chief and rest of the parents went to congratulate for their success.
This had nothing to do with the boy as he knelt there in the same position. Until one of the village elders saw him and took pity. He went to console the boy.
"Liam there is no need to be so sad. If you didn't awaken. You are a fighter aren't you. You don't need those summons you have survived just fine till now without them." said elder Wally. Looking at Liam's eyes void of any emotions he sighed and continued "Look there even those who have managed to summon are still crying for their summons are weak. There is no guarantee that you will get a summon or that you get a powerful one. Even those who get a powerful summon are not guaranteed to be safe. They might die before their summons grow up or they might lose a limb in the battle. You should be happy you don't have to face those ferocious beast and can do background work. No one will force you on the battlefields where you have to play with your life. Live a long life healthily unlike those suffering from battle injuries old guys. Just look at me I failed the summoning but am still living happily."
Seeing her husband comforting someone Eve walked forward to help him when she heard what he said she felt like throwing him in the wild forest. He lived a normal life because all his family were strong and capable enough to protect him when he was young and later she fell in love with this fool and protected him with them. It won't matter if he consoled other children who failed like this as their parents will protect them unlike the little orphan in front of her husband. He had no one to protect him and the worst luck of all time the kind where he might start chocking on his own saliva. She had once rescued him from a beast in a safe area where there were no beast. The thing was there were other kids around him but the beast only caught him not the smallest kid nor the one with some flesh but him just a bag of bones. She had even heard he once almost drowned in the small lake while fetching water, got food poisoning, was bitten by a venomous snake while going home. Eve just thought he was blessed by the god of bad luck and her husband was not making the situation any better with his 'consoling'.
Eve went to interrupt her husband before he made the poor kid any more miserable when suddenly she noticed something. There was a flicker of magic in front of Liam as the magic circle reappeared. Though it was smaller than a grain of sand she still saw it, looking around to see if any of the kid had not used his summon before and was trying right now she noticed that the circle was growing bigger and drawing near Liam. Liam had already used his magic to summon and had failed she was sure of it because his body was drained of magic power and this is observed in all of the kids who had tried to or had summoned. But a magic circle which had failed was once again being opened this is something very unusual. This phenomenon was never heard of before Eve went forward and pushed he husband to a safe area first. All the other elders and warriors also stepped forward and surrounded the magic circle calling their summons out for help but no one reached out to move little Liam. One of the reasons was that the circle was becoming bigger and it kept moving towards Liam and the other reason was that it was still a summoning circle and no one would disturb first summons. Even though they didn't know what was going on they still prioritized protecting their families and their village.
As everyone held their breath the circle grew bigger and bigger. It grew big enough to fit a elephant and it was still growing. What the heck was Liam summoning. A dragon! Oh God!! how amazing would that be then their village would also have a powerful warrior and would be safe when beast tides come. Everyone was very happy that one of them was going to summon a very powerful creature and already imagined how to celebrate their soon to come peaceful days.
Finally the circle stopped growing and the summon started to enter the world under all the villagers excited eyes. Oh look at those powerful legs its going to be a tall and mighty summon. Wait a minute those are human legs. So Liam summoned a human! Why the heck did a human need such a large summoning circle. Can humans even be summoned. Finally Kieran stood in front of Liam with everyone staring at him in daze and confusion. And Kieran stared at the scene before him in confusion. Right now everyone had the same question going through their heads.
WHAT IS GOING ON CAN ANYBODY EXPLAIN?
