Chapter 5 - A Fairy, Two Demons and a Traitor Walk into a Bar...

Year A.O.F XX801, March 7th

The tavern was quite lively because it was in the middle of the worst city in Whitemore, the city of Munelit, which is notorious for its lack of laws and surplus of slums and jobs that would be illegal in most places anyway. Filled with wanted criminals, mercenaries, bandits, and other strange beings, each one has earned their place in the tavern through their apparent strength, even if it could not be seen normally. One of these beings was of teal, emerald hair with red eyes, wearing an old and battered mercenary or guard uniform, it was hard to tell due to the lack of a nation crest or colours on it, and the state it was in, the uniform practically falling at the seams due to a lack of maintenance on it, and the stitching was nonexistent at that point. He ordered a drink from the elvish-looking bartender who nodded before fixing their glasses and promptly making his drink.

As the bartender made his drink, three figures approached behind the man, two of which looked to be of demon-kind, and the third...seemingly to be a smaller than normal human, but not fully.

"There you are, Levin," The smaller one of the trio, seeming to be a female, spoke sneering under her hood. "We were wondering where you went. We had orders and you were nowhere to be seen. So...drinking, are we?"

"Faelynia. I expected you to be quicker with the Emperor's watchdogs with you." The man, seeming to be Levin, hissed out, before taking the drink from the bartender.

"Watch it. We're just here to figure out whether or not you followed your...orders." Faelynia responded quickly, before taking a glance at the bartender. "Well, there's a face I haven't seen since the Blossoming Isles Massacre during the Realm War. Hello, L'unet."

The bartender sighed, before putting a glass they were cleaning down. "Who would've thought someone who betrayed their kind and sold us out before ripping their own wings and mine off would have the audacity to step foot in my bar? Causing trouble, are we Faelynia?"

"Trouble?" Faelynia giggled out. "No, we're just here to collect a deserter or, rather, a traitor, who isn't following orders. You know how it is."

"In that case, I should be doing the same to you." L'unet harshly spoke, the glass in their hands cracking.

"But we aren't in Blossoming Isles territory, are we? The matters of the fae and the fairies can only happen in the Blossoming Isles, you know the rules."

L'unet sighed before setting the glass down. "Rules that you only follow regarding yours and your master's...greed. I'd suggest you take your business elsewhere, Faelynia, including the bit with this man here. I would rather not have to deal with you and your... acquaintances' mess, unless you want to pay everyone's tabs here, and the damages. And you do not want to pay one of the tabs here...considering she drinks my bar dry every time while visiting."

"What if we require him to come with us?" One of the demons questioned, earning a few stares from the other customers at the bar.

"I mean, you pay the tab, but then you also deal with each and every one of these customers for disturbing their peace. And I don't think you wish to find out what they are capable of, even if you are Ender Knights," L'unet stated, giving a coy smile. "So, you want to fuck around and find out why my rules are absolute in this bar, or do you want to take your business elsewhere? I'm sure there are a few Valkryie and Non-mortal hunters in the crowd who would be happy to help. Oh, and I guess I don't mind getting involved either. Give me some steam to blow off, especially if it's getting long-needed revenge after two hundred years, and I'm not that little kid you personally ripped the wings off of anymore either..."

Faelynia took a moment to think on L'unet's threat, before sighing and turning around. "Let's go, One and Zero. We can get the traitor outside the bar later. I'd rather not get us into unneeded trouble that will deter us from the mission at hand."

The two demons groaned, before turning their backs on the rest of the bar and leaving. The bar was silent as they left, watching the trio's every move until they fully stepped out of the bar's doors, going back to their clamouring and chattering state. L'unet went back to cleaning the glasses before pouring Levin another drink.

"You know, they are going to go after you the minute you leave here, right?" L'unet scrubbed the glass. "You could hire someone here to assist you."

"No thanks. I'm already done with my business here. How much is it for the drinks?" Levin stated.

"Hm. Well, you brought some...unwelcome guests to my bar...it would've been on the house had they decided to attack and I managed to kill the bitch myself. Eh, ten coppers." They shrugged.

"You're a student of the Dragon of Stars in the Lunar Empire, correct?" Levin piqued, shoving a hand into his satchel and pulling a book out, alongside with the payment L'unet stated.

"Indeed I am. Is that for my master?"

"The one I brought back needs this book. Your master knows of who I speak of. After all, it's better for her to get the book to the one I brought back, lest I have it on my person when those three capture me."

"Ah, so your performance there was just an act, I assume? You have fully betrayed the Ender King and the Ender Knights? Isn't your elder brother working with them as well?"

"That man is not my biological brother. Fully, at least. If I can evade capture...maybe, I can warn Malachi of his and possibly the King of Divinita's plans...But that's wishful thinking. I brought this to you because I know you and your master would not let this book fall into that, 'bitch's' hands, as you called her. The Evermoon Witch and I made a deal to bring back someone who could possibly stop all...this. Stop the Ender King, stop..quite possibly the beginning of another large-scale war... similar to the Magi War, all those thousands of years ago, to stop another Blossoming Isles massacre, or even prevent the next Realm War..."

"Aye...that is wishful thinking right there. What good could one person do when it's more for them to handle, if they even wish to?"

"They would handle it. They've done it before, and are in good hands. They might visit your master soon, or in the far future, I do not know. I may have to try to go back to the Church of Galleria's prophet, Tiresias, for more answers. If, I am able to evade capture-" He stands up. "Thanks. Expect things to get interesting. For you, your master, and possibly Fin Ikili themselves."

L'unet simply nods before serving another customer as Levin leaves the tavern.
