"You can go in," the guard said to Seraphina. She walked inside, her heels clicking softly against the stone path, while the guard led her to the drawing room.

As she entered, she saw Lucius seated comfortably on the sofa, his posture was relaxed but his gaze carried a sharpness.

Before Seraphina could settle into a chair, Lucius's voice cut through the silence. "I never asked you to sit."

Seraphina stiffened, her brows knitting together. "I'm your mother-in-law. At least show some respect," she responded in a firm tone.

Lucius chuckled lightly with an unsettling sound. Roger stood nearby, watching the exchange carefully.
