Chapter 103: Pick What You Like

The hotel.

Thud, thud, thud~!

The man approached the peephole on the door and looked outside.

He saw the zombies that had been violently pounding on the door moments before now pinned to the ground by several skeletons, which were hacking at them with cleavers.

Every time the zombies tried to get up, they were hacked down again.

The scene was gruesomely brutal.

Blood splattered all over the walls on both sides.

"Brother, what's happening outside?" the girl behind him asked.

The man, still peering through the peephole, was startled and quickly covered her mouth, eyes wide, signaling her to be silent—something was right outside.

The two huddled together, trembling as they listened to the sound of meat being chopped just outside the door.

Gradually, the chopping slowed down, and the zombie growls ceased.

They held their breath, praying that whatever was outside would leave soon.

The entire room fell into an eerie silence.

Thud, thud, thud~!

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

Both of them jumped, their hearts nearly stopping from fright.

Then a woman's voice came from outside, "Were you the ones signaling for help on the rooftop?"

The siblings exchanged looks of shock.

A human?

How could there be a human at this time?

Or was it another kind of monster trying to lure them out?

"We're survivors too. It's safe outside now, so open the door," the person outside continued.

The siblings exchanged another glance, and the man got up to look through the peephole again.

He saw a woman in work clothes standing outside, looking somewhat impatient.

Seeing that she was indeed human,

and knowing that she was aware of their presence in the room, the man finally spoke up, "Are you with the convoy?"

Hearing the response, Li Yanhong looked toward the peephole and said, "You're the one who was waving the flag on the rooftop, right? We've cleared out the zombies, so you can come out now."

"What's with the skeletons?"

"Do you know what an ability user is? Even if I explained, you wouldn't understand. Just know that you're safe. If you don't want to stay here and die, come out and let's talk."

After saying that, Li Yanhong didn't continue.

Everyone had their own choices to make. They wanted to help some survivors, but the other party had to accept the help.

There was no point in being too eager to help if the other side wasn't receptive.

After all, they weren't an official rescue team.

The sound of things being moved inside the room could be heard.

Creak~!

The door opened, revealing the man and the girl in the wheelchair inside.

Li Yanhong frowned.

Leg injury?

In these times, that was a serious problem.

Even if they took them along, it would just be another mouth to feed.

"Thank you for rescuing us," the man said, glancing at the skeletons. Seeing that they weren't attacking, he quickly expressed his gratitude.

Just like his sister had said, some kind of ability users or evolved beings had appeared, just like in the novels.

"Are you a couple?"

"We're siblings. This is my sister."

Li Yanhong nodded and didn't ask more about it.

She went straight to the point, "You have two options: stay here and continue hiding, or come with us, but you'll need to follow our orders and do some work."

Staying behind, the hotel rooms and kitchen still had some food left, so they could survive for a while.

Once the food ran out, they could search for more in the area.

But eventually, they would have to fight zombies to secure more supplies.

The man glanced at his sister, and after exchanging looks, he said, "We'll go with you."

There wasn't much to hesitate about—this was their only chance to survive.

If they stayed, how much longer could he protect his sister?

"Alright, come downstairs with me. You don't need to pack your things; we'll be staying here for the night and leaving in the morning."

"Okay!"

On the first floor, the large hall was filled with skeletons.

Qiangzi and the others were outside inspecting the vehicles to ensure there would be no issues the next day.

Wu Heng walked around the first floor of the hotel, but there wasn't much to collect.

However, he did find a good supply of disposable and safety items.

Li Yanhong brought the siblings down.

"Two survivors, they chose to come with us," Li Yanhong said.

Wu Heng glanced at the girl in the wheelchair, "Is she injured?"

"No, my sister has a leg condition," the man replied, quickly realizing something and hastily added, "I can work; I can do the work of two people. We won't hold you back."

Wu Heng nodded and said, "Prepare dinner, and let everyone pick a room to rest in."

"Okay!"

Wu Heng headed upstairs, saying, "I won't be eating dinner. Make sure a few people take turns keeping watch tonight, and don't go outside."

"Oh, alright!"

Wu Heng went upstairs and chose a room with a better view.

A few skeletons guarded the door and the room.

Wu Heng, along with Barson and Bagdong, went directly to Luntam City.

...…

Luntam City.

Stepping through the gate, they returned to the empty room.

Sword One and Sword Two had been cleaning up, but without any furniture, the place still looked empty.

Cleaning the house wasn't urgent.

Wu Heng planned to finish the prison trade first, then hire a renovation team to properly furnish the place.

He instructed a few skeletons to wrap up tightly.

Then they all left together.

Wu Heng's residence was on the edge of the inner city, about a five or six-minute walk to the outer city.

The medieval-style streets were bustling with activity.

Along the streets, there were various shops—leather goods, weapons, herbs, as well as taverns and inns.

Caravans transporting goods could be seen at any time on the road.

This place had become a trade hub between two countries, which explained why everyone seemed wealthy, and the buildings were so grand and luxurious.

Wu Heng strolled along, looking for a place to have dinner.

"Looking for some relaxation, sir?"

A group of heavily made-up women stood in front of taverns and inns, boldly soliciting customers.

Their long legs and exposed chests dazzled the eye.

Besides human women, there were also muscular female orcs with tusks, or bunny girls and cat girls with obvious animal features.

"Gentlemen, looking to stay for the night?" A strong female orc puffed out her chest and approached.

But as soon as she got close, Bagdong blocked her, preventing her from coming any nearer.

"Do you prefer human girls or some exotic types? Come inside and take a look."

"Pick what you like, it's all available."

The women enthusiastically called out.

Wu Heng glanced at them and waved his hand to signal that he wasn't interested.

Seeing that he wasn't interested, the women stopped approaching and turned their attention to other passersby.

They continued to flirt and entice customers.

The person behind Wu Heng was clearly a regular, calling out the names of several women.

He pulled one of them into a nearby alley.

Wu Heng found a quiet tavern nearby, ordered some food, and ate slowly.

Meanwhile, he listened to the conversations at the neighboring tables about local matters.

After filling his stomach, he returned directly to his residence in the inner city.

He used the gate to return to the zombie world and rested in the hotel.

...…

The next morning.

The people in the hotel were up early.

After breakfast,

they thoroughly searched the hotel and the two nearby shops before getting back into the vehicles.

The siblings from yesterday rode with Wu Heng in the middle bus.

They huddled nervously in the back,

looking as if they'd been kidnapped.

"Is everyone in the vehicles?" Wu Heng asked through the radio.

"Car One, all set."

"Car Two, no issues."

"…"

"Car Five, all clear."

After confirming that everyone was on board, Wu Heng said, "Let's move. Li Yanhong, contact the prison. We should arrive today. Have them prepare everything for the trade outside."

The military vehicles were equipped with radios that could receive external information and make contact.

"Got it!"

The vehicles started up.

The convoy maintained yesterday's formation and continued on.

The further they went, the more

desolate the road became.

On both sides, large expanses of wasteland stretched out, with the occasional zombie that was left far behind.
