The Whitlock's were sniveling and shivering when David's men brought them over and forced them onto their knees. Immediately, before being questioned they started to deny having any knowledge of Humphrey's crimes.
This was because David's men had identified themselves as police and grilled them for a while before Humphrey went berserk.
