Lumi stepped through the grand gates of Oberon Academy, feeling the weight of its history and prestige settle around her. The academy grounds were sprawling and beautiful, filled with snow-covered gardens, towering crystal spires, and enchanted pathways that sparkled with a faint glow of magic. Students dressed in elegant robes hurried along the paths, their breath visible in the cold air as they exchanged excited chatter about the upcoming year. Lumi took it all in with a calm, composed expression, though she couldn't deny the flicker of curiosity and anticipation she felt deep down.
Her parents walked beside her, proudly taking in the surroundings as they led Lumi toward the main building. Boreas, despite his usual laid-back demeanor, had a hint of pride in his eyes as he glanced at his daughter. Kirsi, meanwhile, was beaming with excitement, her eyes darting from one impressive sight to the next.
As they approached the towering entrance of the main building, a figure stepped forward to greet them. It was a tall, slender woman with long, flowing silver hair and sharp, intelligent eyes that seemed to see right through a person. She wore a robe of deep blue, embroidered with intricate patterns of ice crystals and frost, marking her as a high-ranking member of the academy's staff.
"Welcome to Oberon Academy," the woman said, her voice cool and smooth as the winter wind. "I am Professor Glacies, head of the Elemental Magic Department. You must be Lumi Borealis."
Lumi nodded politely, though her gaze remained steady and relaxed. "Yes, that's me. Nice to meet you."
Professor Glacies studied Lumi for a moment, her sharp eyes assessing the girl before her. There was something in her gaze—a recognition of the power and potential that Lumi held, even if the girl herself seemed unperturbed by it.
"I have heard much about you," Professor Glacies said, her tone respectful. "A Blessing from the Ice Element queen is a rare and extraordinary gift. You will find that Oberon Academy is the perfect place to nurture and develop such talents."
Kirsi and Boreas exchanged proud glances, but Lumi merely shrugged, her expression as nonchalant as ever. "I'm just here to learn," she replied simply.
Professor Glacies's lips twitched into a faint smile at Lumi's response. "Indeed. The academy will challenge you in ways you might not expect, but I have no doubt that you will rise to meet those challenges. Your first day will be a busy one, as you'll need to complete your registration and receive your class schedule."
The professor gestured toward a path leading to another building, where several other students were gathering. "That building is where new students complete their registration. Afterward, you'll be assigned to your dormitory, and you can familiarize yourself with the campus. Your parents are welcome to accompany you for now, but once your orientation begins, you'll be on your own."
Lumi nodded again, taking in the information without much reaction. "Got it. Thanks, Professor."
With that, Lumi and her parents made their way toward the registration building, where other new students were bustling about, filling out forms and receiving their schedules. Lumi approached the registration desk, where a cheerful young elf greeted her with a bright smile.
"Welcome to Oberon Academy! Name, please?" the elf asked, her quill poised over a parchment.
"Lumi Borealis," Lumi replied, her voice calm and even.
The elf's eyes widened slightly at the name, recognizing it from the reports of the previous magical tests. "Ah, yes! You're on our list. Blessed by the Ice Element queen herself, I see. How exciting!" The elf handed Lumi a stack of papers. "These are your registration forms. Once you fill them out, you'll receive your class schedule and dormitory assignment."
Lumi accepted the papers with a nod and moved to a nearby table to fill them out. As she worked through the forms, her parents stood by, offering their support and encouragement. Boreas glanced over the papers, noting the variety of classes offered at the academy.
"You've got quite a selection here, Lumi," he remarked. "Elemental Magic, Magical Theory, Alchemy, Familiar Summoning… Looks like you'll be busy."
Lumi shrugged, unfazed by the list. "I'll figure it out. I'm more interested in the practical stuff, anyway."
Kirsi smiled warmly at her daughter. "You'll do great, Lumi. Just remember to take things one step at a time. Oberon Academy may be the best in the kingdom, but you're more than capable of handling it."
Lumi finished filling out the forms and returned them to the registration desk. The elf quickly processed them, then handed Lumi a small, intricately designed booklet. "Here's your class schedule, Lumi. You'll be in the North Wing dormitory. Your dorm leader will help you get settled in. Welcome to Oberon Academy, and best of luck in your studies!"
Lumi accepted the booklet and flipped through it, noting the various classes and their locations on the campus map. She then tucked it into her cloak and turned to her parents. "Looks like I'm all set."
Boreas placed a hand on Lumi's shoulder, his gaze filled with pride. "You'll do just fine, Lumi. Remember, we're always here if you need us."
Kirsi pulled Lumi into a warm embrace. "We love you, Lumi. Do your best, and don't forget to take care of yourself."
Lumi hugged her mother back, feeling a rare flicker of emotion beneath her usual calm exterior. "I will, Mama. Thanks."
With her parents' encouragement still echoing in her ears, Lumi made her way to the North Wing dormitory, where she would begin her new life as a student of Oberon Academy. As she walked through the campus, she observed the other students around her—some nervous, others excited, all eager to begin their magical education.
Lumi, however, remained as relaxed as ever. She knew she had a lot to learn, but she was confident in her abilities. And while the academy might challenge her, Lumi was certain that she could rise to meet those challenges—without sacrificing her beloved nap time, of course.
As she reached the North Wing dormitory, Lumi took a deep breath and stepped inside, ready to face whatever the academy had in store for her. This was the start of a new chapter in her life, and while she might approach it with her usual laidback attitude, Lumi couldn't deny the small thrill of excitement that buzzed beneath her calm exterior.
