I walk towards bargs hut and peek inside as I see him gently putting Olfin down into his giant bed, it could easily fit three adults he also has a few books a table and some chairs it's very spacious for a hut, I step inside the hut as he stands up
Barg:"you've come back so soon, how is your village doing, I see you have your dress back in one piece"
Whitney:" it's gone… there is nothing left but ash and some burnt wood that hasn't fallen down yet but I did find crook, he was sleeping with me when I woke up"
Barg:"crook what an odd name for a dog"
We whisper to not wake Olfin there is a small fire outside his hut as the sun starts going down we go and get some food Olfin wakes up and comes out of Bargs hut
Olfin:"WHITNEY YOU ARE BACK!" He runs as fast as he can towards me he jumps and I wrap my arms around him picking him up
Whitney:" of course I am I promised you I'd come back as well as Barg here so I couldn't stay away"
Olfin:"I missed you a lot but Zul and Barg helped me feel less sad we went hunting today and tracked a bear he had giant paws and big claws we didn't find him but we did find a deer! Barg used a spear to get it" I chuckle as he continues to talk he then wraps his arms around my neck and burys his face into my neck my heart breaks a little for him he's only about 5 and has lost his parents
Whitney:"I'm glad Zul and Barg have been helping you olfin i missed you as well how about we have some dinner and then we can do something fun together before bed" he releases my neck and nods I set him down and he goes to get some food
Barg:" man he really is attached to you poor little man he did have a lot of fun today tho and he's a pretty good kid to have around I never really thought I'd like kids but he is growing on me" I chuckle as we go to get food as well
Whitney:"I feel awful for leaving and now I have to leave again tomorrow to go find Benjamin"
Barg:"what you are leaving again tomorrow that soon why not stay for a couple days just to cheer Olfin up of course" he says as he looks around trying to act tough
Whitney:"I will think about it but even if I do it won't make it easier on him he's only 5 and is already so alone in the world"
Barg:"he isn't alone he has all of us to lean on when he needs us, you never did mention if you found anyone at the village"
Whitney:"I didn't there were no bodies, no dead animals, nothing I figure they must have fled either that or whoever attacked took all the dead with them but I don't see how they could do that"
Barg:"maybe you shouldn't go alone I can come with you"
Whitney:"Zul said the same thing I will be fine by myself plus I have crook unless he decides to stay here he seems to like it around here"
Barg:"you talked to Zul!?" He looks angry as I mention Zul I nod
Whitney:"yes he stopped me when I was heading to find you he said he thinks me being with a human man is what's best for me and I told him that to me you are all human, you may look different but you aren't monsters, i said he can have a good life with dura but apparently he doesn't want dura he wants to come with me as well"
Barg:" he's got a lot of nerve to even speak to you after what he did, he doesn't know what's best for you at all I'm going with you to protect you and that's final!"
He says in a determined and confident voice as he looks at me I sigh realizing he won't give up and will probably follow me anyway
We sit and eat our food with everyone else once it is all done Olfin comes over to me and wants to go to the river to look for fish I nod as Barg joins us crook also follows along beside Olfin.
Whitney:" listen I know we had sex but I'm still confused and hurt from zul I don't want to rush into anything and get hurt again"
Barg:"I don't blame you and we don't have to rush anything I won't push you to be mine or anything really but I am still going to flirt with you"
Whitney:"I'm glad you understand thank you and that I can live with, well here we are at the river now Olfin you must be careful around the water you don't know how to swim yet so stay in the shallow area okay"
Olfin:"ok is here good for me to be" he waddles into the water it only goes up above his feet a little
Whitney:"yes that's okay olfin" I sit watching him look into the deeper water trying to see fish crook is also in the water walking around sometimes jumping at things in the water every time he does olfin laughs at crook, his little laugh makes my heart happy me and barg are sitting on a log keeping our eyes on them both.
Barg:"you'd be a good mother you know Whitney olfin seems to think the same way he really did miss you I felt so bad seeing him look so sad the other kids have there moms and dads and olfin doesn't I hate to say this but surprisingly zul seems to have a soft spot for him as well and he isn't bad with him"
Whitney:"please let's not talk about zul, I seen you put olfin into your bed you are good with him as well I think you'd make a good parent to and I'm super jealous of the size of your bed you could fit 3 grown people in there" I say and chuckle as he nods and laughs to
Barg:"yeah I felt like I had to fill the space and I figured why not have a big bed at that time I thought I'd have a wife and kids to share it with but I never found someone I really liked that much and I don't think I'd be a good dad, male orcs we usually don't have much to do with the kids at least that's how the old generations where I barely seen my father and when I did he was never very nice to anyone our mother was as much as she could be but even mothers weren't very caring I don't know what a good dad even does"
Whitney:"well I can tell you what my father did I think he was a great dad"
I look at barg as he nods waiting for me to tell him I make sure to watch olfin as he is looking for cool rocks me and barg are sitting very close together on the log
Whitney:"well he worked with animals knew how to help them care for them if they got sick or injured, he would take me with him most times teach me what he knew, he was always around teaching me anything and everything unless my mom was wanting me to help her in making dinner or baking, usually after we had dinner he's get a fire going and we would sit down in the living room all on the couch with some blankets he'd would tell me stories for hours or until I feel asleep. He would play with me when he had some time, he was there for me, he was present in my life he loved me even if I messed up or made a mess I think if you teach your kids things and spend time with them, love them unconditionally, have fun together, I think that makes you a good dad, he protected me as well and from what I know about you barg, you would make a great dad for any kid."
Barg:"t..thanks for saying that I think you are right about your father being a great dad, you must miss them a lot huh"
Whitney:"yes I do but I know they wouldn't want me to be sad, they died along time ago and I've done my grieving I still think of them but they would want me to focus on my life"
Barg:"you make it very hard to not want to kiss you when you are that sweet and gentle how you interact with olfin for some reason makes it hard for me to breathe around, when it's just us or I see you from a distance it makes my heart skip a beat and lord when you smile at me it takes everything not to pick you up and take you to my hut, make you moan the way I did the first time" his breathe is on my ear my face is tinted red as my body gets hot thinking about what he says I shyly push his chest playfully
Whitney:" you must behave yourself olfin is with us and he is much to young to be seeing or hearing anything like that" I chuckle olfin comes over to us showing us all the pretty rocks he has found in the river
Olfin:" I think this green and red one is my favourite it's sparkly but I do like the blue one to and the yellowish green one, can I bring these ones home with me, Pwease I leave the rest of them here" he begs as he looks at me and barg, barg goes to say something but I put my hand on his leg, he looks surprised for a minute
Whitney:"yes you can bring those ones back, but we should go soon it's getting late and looks like it might rain" he nods dropping the other rocks but keeping the ones he likes best he smiles so brightly at me as we start to head back "Crook come on boy let's go" I yell and crook comes racing towards us he's soaked but happy, olfin starts to get tired during the walk back so I pick him up and carry him the rest of the way the stones still tightly held in his hands. We get back to the village as black clouds start to roll in, it's dark at this point so I head to Olfins hut it's definitely a family sized hut but he's the only one who sleeps here I go and set him down in his bed he's still sleeping, I gently take the rocks and set them on the table, I go and tuck him into bed making sure he is warm he opens his eyes a little and sleepily says
Olfin:"goodnight, can we play more tomorrow"
Whitney:"yes we can now go to sleep silly"
He closes his eyes and falls back to sleep.
