Chapter 3 - THE LIGHT

Entering the capital, Dawnchester, three hours after the tragedy in Eatogias...

Dawnchester General Hospital, 1.45pm.

-Sniffing her fag, NISHA says: 'It's rained a lot today, I was starting to worry because the pressing wasn't going to be pleasant and at the same time I had to do three operations today, and I've been up since 4am. I'm really at the end of my tether, and I thought I'd be a long way from the violence of DRAUGR. I'd really given myself the good life, full of rest, but I was wrong. It's a good thing it's the weekend, otherwise I'd have done better to...

-NANABA: Doctor, I was looking for you, no, but you've disappeared. Luckily I knew I'd find you up here.

- NANABA: Congratulations, you've found me! All that's left is to give you a medal or a prize for the best archaeologist?

-Nanaba : What's more, you're smoking. What you do is harmful to your health. It's true that you're talented in your care, but if you carry on killing yourself little by little.

- Nanaba: Sometimes you have to be gentle with me. It's bad enough that when I looked at the weather forecast before going to bed, it didn't even predict a shower. Let alone this rain! As a result, I was cold and I needed to warm up a bit after all those hours spent in the operating theatre, followed by the cold brought on by the rain. And we don't know when it's going to stop.

- Nanaba: You're always finding excuses. All these patients will soon have no-one to look after them. And even if your three operations today were commendable in the eyes of your hierarchy, once again you'll have to go and talk to the patients' families about the condition of their loved ones.

-There will always be families, and I'm not the only doctor in this hospital.

- Nanaba: You always like to avoid the subject. If you were really that cold, maybe you should have made an appointment and spent more time with your so-called friend who's also in the army. He's also in the most dangerous section. You've got to look on the bright side: either take advantage of spending as much time with him as possible, or... Given that you always seem to be a rebellious woman, with all the battles he has to face and fight every day, there must always be soldiers he has to accompany to hospital, and in the meantime he can take it easy in the emergency rooms.

- You know, if it hadn't been for DOROTHY who recommended you to me, I'd have kicked you out already.

NANABA exclaimed coolly: 'Hey!

-' That's right, little girl, so stop getting worked up and looking so confident and familiar with me, puff!' said Dr Nisha with an air of satisfaction and confidence towards her trainee.

Nanaba: Dame Dorothy also told me that you were a sadist behind that innocent, sweet, dedicated doctor's facade.

Nanaba: 'Hehe, keep that up and you'll be getting an E or a D on your grade,' says Dr Nisha with a Machiavellian air.

- Nanaba: 'Hmmm, with that, I'll flunk out of the academy and I won't get my doctor's licence. I don't want to die on the battlefield, please.' Crying, she held Nisha's jacket.

NISHA: Hey, I'm not your big sister, let go of me!

-Nanaba: Doctor, speaking of him, he has to be on the battlefield all the time, don't you ever have to talk him out of going near death?

NISHA: The best thing for him would be to listen to those closest to him.

- NISHA: You're out of luck on this one, DOCTOR, and I haven't even mentioned his name yet and you've already answered directly, hehe.

- NISHA: Shut up, tugging on her cheek, and with an embarrassed look on her face, the doctor exclaimed as she descended the stairs to the lower level of the hospital buildings.

-Nisha: And by the way, I think he's in charge of training young people at the moment. According to the army, at least five of them have the potential to become daïmios.

-NANABA: I see, if that's the case, he's out of danger for at least the next four or five years.

-NISHA: I see. That's a good thing, then.

As she descends the stairs, listening to the cries of a baby.

-NISHA: Whose baby is this?

- Hey, keep your voice down, talking to her while whispering to her superior: she's the sister of your third patient you've just operated on, it might sound bad talking like that, Doctor.

- NISHA: Oh, sorry, I didn't know.

- The child's mother replied: 'His name is Aslan.

-NISHA: Oh, ASLAN! A lovely name for a lovely baby.

- He's so plump,' said the doctor, trying to touch the baby, who began to cry loudly.

-NISHA: oh lala, sorry apparently I've lost my touch with the children, you'd think he didn't like me.

-No, I think he likes you and so do I, for that matter. You've already saved my fiancé's life many times.

-NISHA: Your fiancé?

-Indeed, LIDE has told me a lot about you and your medical skills, even saying that once, during one of your expeditions, you treated a soldier in a carriage in the middle of a chase with draugrs. His life was saved.

-NISHA: LIDE? The one who spends his time playing the brave, putting his life on the line to save his team-mates? You have to admit he's too strong to want to stay under TAMAYO's command all the time. So you're LIDE's fiancée and therefore his future wife? you must be 'AMANDA'?

AMANDA: Sometimes he tells me that no matter how badly he's hurt, even at the point of death, you'll always know what to do to get him out of serious situations. I even think that it's because of your talents and benefits in medicine that he allows himself to take so many risks to save his team-mates and friends.

-THE DOCTOR says flatteringly: Hohoho, I'm not as good a doctor as he says I am.

- NISHA: If you're not, you must have been here a long time. Haven't you got permission to go home yet? Everything seems to be going well for you and the child though.

-AMANDA: Yes, I was supposed to leave the hospital two days ago, but my fiancé and the child's father would like to come and see his child and take us home.

NANABA: Okay, 'Sir' wants to be charming and romantic.

-AMANDA: You could say that, even though it's not like him to be romantic sometimes, but he's romantic with me. That's the side of him that only I know. Once, on his way back from an expedition, he brought back an arcane stone. When he bumped into me, he dropped it. He was annoyed and cranky, and when I tried to pick up the stone to give it back to him, we bumped heads because he wanted to do the same. We stared at each other and, boom, I felt...

-NISHA & NANABA: OK, we've got it, 'love at first sight'.

-NISHA: If not, you two were made for each other.

-NANABA: Yeah, I can confirm that, says NANABA with a desperate look on her face.

-NISHA: I never thought he'd find a woman as cheerful and beautiful as you. He will definitely be the happiest man when he sees you and his child.

-AMANDA: Do you think so?

-Nisha: Of course, I'm 1000% sure.

-The three of them started laughing.

- NISHA: Come on! I'm going to leave you now, my hour of posing is long over. See you next time! And if he comes to pick you up while I'm away, then I'll be waiting firmly for the invitation to your wedding.

AMANDA: Ha-ha! Right, definitely. And it will be an invitation for a couple. Make sure you bring the Colonel.

-NISHA: ohhhh but...

-NANABA: Oh dear, we spoke a little too loudly.

-AMANDA: Maybe a bit too much, yes.

- NISHA: Come on, Nanaba, let's go downstairs. If we're hanging around here because of your filthy mouth, I'm going to take it personally and give you a bad mark. Are you forgetting that you're still a trainee?

-NANABA: Er, you're worse than DOROTHY.

-NISHA: I'll turn a blind eye if you buy me dinner tonight after your internship.

-Nanaba: Hey, that's exploitation, what you're doing to me. What's more, you're not brave enough to ask the colonel to take you out.

-NISHA: I'm going to kill you after all...

-NANABA: My apologies, Chief! I'll buy you something to eat, as many times as you like.

NISHA: Let's go downstairs!

-* Arriving in the capital of Dawnchester, galloping with his squad towards the hospital...

- So far, in the 3 hours we've been on the road, we haven't come across any draugr obstacles, and fortunately at the border with the capital, the army didn't ask us too many questions, as we had an injured soldier in a serious condition who needed urgent treatment. We have to get to hospital at all costs if we don't want to lose IZUMO', says the colonel in his head.

TAMAYO: Nozel, check again on IZUMO and LIDE, how are they doing?

Nozel: Chief LIDE is no more.

- I ordered you to check! the colonel shouted at him.

- Chief, he's already bled to death despite our efforts, to no avail', Nozel replied angrily.

What's more, more than three hours have gone by without his body giving off any heat and he's even stopped breathing, we have to accept that, Colonel.

Then NOZEL ripped his arcane necklace from his neck and handed it to his family later.

- TAMAYO: And the boy?

- NOZEL: He's still unconscious.

At the same time, Abigail's group had just joined them.

-ABIGAIL: Tamayo! Zaruba told me about the situation and what happened to you, so I came as soon as I could.

-TAMAYO: Thank you, my friend. Can you do me one last favour?

-ABIGAIL: What's that?

-Tamayo: By taking this kid with you.

-ABIGAIL: What?! Zaruba told me about him. From the look of him, he seems to be an Inun, but what if he's a spy from the other kingdom?

-Tamayo: I don't think so. If he was, we would have had the other kingdom's elite soldiers with us after the draugr attack, wouldn't we, Zaruba?

-ZARUBA: You're right, and I don't even think they'd let us go with him if they knew he existed, because we're all in need of magic and arcane.

-Abigael: Looking at him, I have a feeling he's going to cause a lot of problems. We had to kill him while we had the chance. We've lost a promising member of our army. It's time to put an end to this and nip the threat in the bud.

-ARIMA: No one will kill this child, superior or not, I don't care about that, before he lost consciousness, Izumo was interested in this boy. Otherwise, I myself was ready to end his life.

-TAMAYO: You're on a roll, soldiers. In any case, I feel we're witnessing a change in the history of humanity and arcane magic.

-Abigail: Tamayo, what's your decision?

-TAMAYO: My decision is to take him with you and keep a low profile for a while, because I don't want the authorities to find out about his existence and what he's capable of. Please, I take full responsibility.

-ABIGAIL: All right. My friend, as far as our superior is concerned, it's my business. As soon as I agreed to join you in this affair, I agreed to be involved.

-TAMAYO: Thank you very much my friend, I'll make it up to you one day.

Immediately after the colonel's words, Izumo began to suffocate and writhe in pain.

-ARIMA: What's wrong with him?

-Tamayo: Nozel, measure his temperature.

-NOZEL: Chief, he's unstable, it's over 45°.

-ABIGAIL: TAMAYO, I'll leave you to it, I'll take the little one with me and I'll take good care of IZUMO.

-TAMAYO: All right, ZARUBA, I'd like you to follow Colonel Abigail.

-ZARUBA: Yes, Colonel.

-TAMAYO: We're two minutes from the hospital.

* Once we get to the hospital.

-TAMAYO: Come on, come on! Get him off the trolley slowly. NOZEL, help me reach Doctor Nicha. She's the only one who can help us with Izumo's complex case.

-NOZEL: OK chief, nurse, we've got one seriously injured soldier and the other is already dead, help us move them, where the fuck are the nurses?

-Chief hospital warden: OK sir, I'll call the nurses, hey JEFF, ABEL, DAN, help me move these soldiers, I'll get the nurses to take them to the emergency room.

-Nozel: Please, where can I reach Dr Nicha? We need her here for this case, comrade.

- CHIEF GUARDIAN: Impossible, I heard she had a lot of surgery today, she can't be reached immediately except by appointment and I'm sure she's already left.

-Nozel: Who cares, tell her it's from Colonel Tamayo. Please, brother, we've lost enough comrades and I don't want to lose another promising one today.

The chief guard: OK, I'm going.

-NOZEL: I'd better go with you.

-CHIEF GUARD: No problem, sir.

-NOZEL: Thank you very much, Arima. I'll leave Izumo to you.

-ARIMA: You can count on me.

* At the same time, in the hospital cafeteria. He's filling his cup at the coffee machine.

-NANABA: Phew, trainee or attending, there's nothing easy about working with Dr Nisha in this hospital, fortunately, unlike the other doctors she works with. She gives you the freedom to innovate and is always open to suggestions and ideas. I can say that I feel I've been exploited to my full potential in medicine, but for today, even though it's late, I'm willing to enjoy a good cup of coffee. And you have to admit that their coffee machine is the only good thing about this hospital.

-Er, why is everyone in reception making such a fuss about it? I'd better go and have a look. As far as I can see, he's military. I'd better go and ask him what he wants, he looks so panicked.

Nanaba approaches the reception desk.

-NANABA: Good evening sir, is there a problem? How can I help you?

-There's a necklace in his hands with a red arcane stone. Isn't that LIDE, the fiancé of the woman who gave birth?

-NOZEL: Sergeant NOZEL, we have a seriously injured man and a dead soldier. We need a doctor and nurses.

-NANABA: Er NOZEL? OK, Sergeant, I'll call some nurses to take the patients away urgently and I'll try to find you an available doctor.

-NOZEL: Thank you very much, we need Dr Nisha, ma'am.

-NANABA: Impossible, she's finished her operations for today, she was planning to go home.

-NOZEL: Please, it's Colonel TAMAYO who's asking, it's really urgent.

- Nanaba: Er, you said Colonel Tamayo, OK, I'll inform him of the situation. Come with me.

Dr Nisha put his things away in his office.

- Nisha: It's been an exhausting day and I haven't eaten anything since the morning, fortunately NANABA is going to buy me something to eat. Poor thing, I came on a bit too strong with her. She's too competent, her only fault is that she's too chicken-like and has trouble holding her tongue. I'll surprise her by paying for the meal myself. She helped me a lot during her internship here. Dorothy, I don't know where she got all this talent.

Just as she opened the door, she saw someone enter.

-NANABA: Sorry doctor, we need you urgently!

-NISHA: Nanaba? What are you doing here? Weren't you told that you weren't on working time? Here, make some room for a soldier here, in addition to the coalition army.

-Nozel: Sergeant Nozel, Doctor, we have an injured man with us and only you can help us.

-NISHA: Impossible, I've just finished my hours here.

-NOZEL: Colonel TAMAYO sent me, he told me that you were the only one who could help us save our companion's life. Please, if it's overtime, we'll even pay you double, Doctor. Please help us.

-Nisha: Hmmm, all right, he'd better give this back to me, where's the patient?

-NOZEL: Thank you very much, madam.

-NISHA: Nanaba, go and get the emergency room ready!

On arriving at the reception desk, Doctor Nisha saw Colonel Tamayo with Izumo and the nurses.

-TAMAYO: NISHA, thank God you're here, I'd been told you weren't.

-NISHA: TAMAYO, the chief guard was right, it was only a matter of time before I was gone, thank goodness your sergeant and my trainee got here in time.

- NISHA: Move aside! Let me see and inspect this man.

- Hmm, his jaw was punctured by a laser, at least he's not in any danger. It seems that he sustained this injury over 2 hours ago, which has caused the infection to progress.

TAMAYO: It's been 3 hours since the Draugr attacked us and by the time we were able to get here and cross the border while stopping his bleeding.

-NISHA: I know it's not my job, TAMAYO, but why leave this young recruit on the front line to face a Jengu, given the state of the damage and his injuries, he was no match.

- Arima: It's not his fault, Doctor. Izumo just wanted to save the colonel's life.

TAMAYO: He's right, without his intervention, I wouldn't even be in this world any more, NISHA.

-NISHA: Habon? You can be proud of your recruits.

-TAMAYO: That's why I want you to do everything you can to save this boy, I owe him my life.

-NISHA: All right, I'll save him.

-ARIMA: Please, madam. We made a promise. Sergeant LIDE has already left us because of that monster.

-NISHA and NANABA: LIDE is dead? So he was the second soldier to die?

- TAMAYO: Shut up ARIMA, this isn't the time.

- I didn't want to keep this from you, even if it's at the wrong time, but we have to accept it and save the boy.

-NISHA: Now is not the time to procrastinate.

At the same time, IZUMO's arcane energy began to escape from his dying body.

-TAMAYO: What's happening to him?

-NISHA: The magic in his body is being disrupted, the infection is beginning to eat away at him and his heart rate is accelerating.

-TAMAYO: What?

-NISHA: I have to take him to the operating theatre. There's not enough equipment here and I need another doctor.

-Normally, it would take between 20 and 30 hours. This is not normal.

*A second later, blood escaped from Izumo's chest. Everyone was astonished by this.

-TAMAYO, NOZEL, ARIMA and NANABA were unsettled by what they had just seen, but only Doctor NISHA regained his composure and activated his medical suit.

-NISHA: Get away from him, get out of here. NURSE: Sound the alarm in the hospital, we've got an infected patient on level 04.

- NURSE: OK, Doctor.

-TAMAYO: An emergency suit against infection? NISHA: What's going on with the kid?

- NISHA: His infection level has reached stage 04. I'm also trying to understand what's happening to him in such a short space of time.

NANABA: Stage 4 in such a short space of time? This stage already means we have to quarantine this hospital.

- TAMAYO: Shit, we've got to act fast. NOZEL orders the immediate evacuation of this building. NISHA, I'm coming with you to the operating theatre, I'm not leaving that kid alone.

- ARIMA: I'm coming with you, Colonel. I won't leave my friend alone.

-TAMAYO: All right, kid. Let's go, Nozel, I'll leave the rest to you.

-NOZEL: Yes, sir!

-TAMAYO: Start with the delivery rooms and the newborns, the offspring, because they'll be the most vulnerable. We also need to take care of the elderly, but priority must be given to the newborns.

-NOZEL: OK, boss.

- TAMAYO: NISHA, let's go to the operating theatre.

*a few minutes later a doctor joins them

- ???: Doctor NISHA, I think we should go.

-NISHA: Doctor Soon, it was you who came? You didn't want to leave the hospital, the patient is already at stage 04 of his infection.

- Doctor Soon: When the nurse arrived, the doctors didn't want to come. They all refused, saying they were busy and had important appointments with patients. When the infection alert was sounded at level 04 in the hospital, they all fled. And I couldn't leave a friend alone like that.

-NISHA: Thank you very much, I knew I could trust you.

-DR SOON: Far from the low spirits of the others, this level 04 infection, neglected, could cost the capital and thousands of innocent human lives.

- OK, I'll take care of the internal organs and you NISHA, you take care of the circulation of these organs.

-NISHA: But he won't survive, he'll die long before that, in pain and without anaesthetic. SOON.

-SOON: Don't worry, I've noticed that he's a coalition soldier, he's already been mutated, so it's not going to take a scalpel to kill him.

-NISHA: Yes, I'd forgotten.

-DR SOON: Colonel, help us move his bed to the operating theatre. With your mutation, you'll be able to hold on even without a suit, to avoid contaminating yourself and your soldiers.

-Yes, he's already ready, Doctor.

-DR SOON: You're very quick, Colonel. I like that.

*In the hospital corridor and heading for the operating theatre.

-DR SOON: He's opened his eyes. We'll have to be quick, increase the adrenaline.

-NISHA: I'm already injecting it.

-IZUMO was mumbling.

-DR SOON: Keep giving him oxygen, his pulse is getting weaker.

-NISHA: Already, and he's losing too much blood. Stay with us.

-DR SOON: Then stop his bleeding.

- Tamayo: Hey, kid, don't give up, keep fighting, everything will be fine. Izumo, I forbid you to die.

-ARIMA: 'Buddy, if you die, I'll kill you. You've no right to leave me alone. I don't want to win this rivalry this way. We were going to eat our favourite food afterwards, remember?'

They arrive at the operating theatre.

-DR SOON: You must not follow us, Colonel. Leave us alone.

-TAMAYO: Do everything in your power to save this man, I've lost enough children today.

-DR SOON: Sir, you are in our way. We will do everything we can to keep him alive.

- His infection is spreading, get the syringe, I want you to be able to put him into a coma.

*IZUMO is still mumbling and suddenly his heart stops beating and his lung stops beating.

- NANABA: We're trying to resuscitate him.

-Nisha: I can't feel his heart, it's stopped beating.

- DR SOON: His brain hasn't either and all the arcane magic has left him, along with his body.

*Nisha, surprised: SOON!

- DR SOON: What?

*On the other side, where the colonel had sent Nozel to rescue the hospital patients by evacuating them, as he ran down the stairs, he saw...

-NOZEL: AMANDA! Is that you?

Amanda: Nozel, are you here? What are you doing here? And why can't I see a doctor when I've just heard the alarm? I ran straight to the neonatal ward.

-NOZEL: Have you given birth yet? How is your baby? Is he in the neonatal room?

-AMANDA: No, I've already taken him outside and given him to the ambulance. But as everyone was fleeing the hospital, three women who had given birth three days before me told the police and evacuation officers that their babies were still inside, in the neonatal ward.

- NOZEL: We're going to save these children, I've finished the evacuation on my side and my colleague must surely have finished evacuating the elderly.

- Where's the neonatal ward?

-AMANDA: To the left on the second floor, go there.

- NOZEL: No, don't come, wait for me outside. I've had a mutation, I'll be able to cope with the infection, but you won't, and certainly not in the state you're in before you give birth.

-AMANDA: No, I'll be fine once I've taken the babies out and returned them to their mothers, and even though I'm not military like you, NOZEL, I had military training. That's where LIDE and I met.

-NOZEL: habon?

-AMANDA: Yes, and let's not dawdle. NOZEL.

*Arriving in front of the neonatal ward.

-AMANDA: It's closed, you need a card to open it.

-NOZEL: No time.

*NOZEL cuts the door in half. He noticed that the room was dark.

-NOZEL: It's so dark in here, I hope the electricity is still working.

The next second he saw the light come on, and it was AMANDA who had flipped the switch.

-NOZEL: Oh, so it was you who turned on the light?

-AMANDA: Yes, and now all we have to do is get the children from the three mothers.

-Nozel: There are several cots, I'd say about twenty.

-AMANDA: They haven't been in the world very long, so they should be at the back of the room.

-NOZEL: I've just found one here.

-AMANDA: I've also just found two more.

-NOZEL: Luckily, I think it's over. 'Even though I've got a bad feeling about it, let's get the three mothers together and hand over their babies.

-AMANDA: Wait, NOZEL, isn't LIDE with you? You're in the same squad together, aren't you? He would have been too useful here with this infection.

-NOZEL: I know, but the Colonel needed him elsewhere.

-AMANDA: He won't believe me when I tell him about my day today.

-NOZEL: Yeah.

As he tries to leave the neonatal room, NOZEL instinctively hears the danger and the light goes out a second time.

-NOZEL: I know the feeling and I can feel concentrated arcane energy emanating from two places, one downstairs and one in the same room as me.

-AMANDA: Er, NOZEL, I just remembered, one of the mothers had given birth to twins.

- NOZEL: And when you saw them outside, one of the three mothers was carrying a baby on her back or a baby in her hands?

-AMANDA: er... NO, wait, what do you mean?

- NOZEL: Yes, one is still in this room.

At the back of the room, in the darkness, a greenish light emanated; NOZEL and AMANDA saw...

-AMANDA: NOZEL, look behind you.

-NOZEL: Impossible, not here, not now, how did it get in here?

-AMANDA: A draugr!... What's more, he's got the baby we've been looking for in his hands.

-NOZEL: But what's he doing here and why hasn't he been located? I know he's like the other one who had LIDE. He had everything abnormal that we know about Draugrs. I can't face him, I won't be able to defeat him, where our whole squad struggled to defeat the other one in Eatogias. I'll just focus on saving the baby he's holding.

-I know I'm not an expert like you, but this Draugr is weird.

-NOZEL: What? What's weird?

- AMANDA: I can't see the baby crying, he's still alive from here. If it was aggressive, it could have crushed every baby in this room. Let's synchronise our timing, NOZEL.

-NOZEL: Can you do it?

-AMANDA: Don't hesitate, trust me, my friend. On the count of three, you're going to do everything you can and you're going to use your wind magic to rip that baby away from her and flee this place.

-NOZEL: Okay.

* NOZEL knew it was a risky gamble: on the one hand, to put the baby's life in danger by going all out, and on the other, not to risk running off with AMANDA and the other three babies outside. Admittedly, he thought it was cowardly, but he was understanding enough to minimise the risks. But NOZEL decided to act. He took a deep breath; he knew that the draugr, by their very nature, were too sensitive to the energy emitted by the magic of the arcane stone. Given how dangerous it was, NOZEL wanted to avoid the scenario where the draugr went on the offensive and attacked them. The situation was critical, as NOZEL is the only military man known to be the fastest. He threw the baby he was carrying at AMANDA and had time to draw his two slakers. The Draugr had felt his magic being activated and, just as he was about to crush the baby in his hands, nobody had seen him and he even cut off the Draugr's arms and took the baby and the pieces of the Draum's severed arms with him, while AMANDA, for her part, managed to recover the child. NOZEL, trying to escape, was caught in the teeth by a second Draugr. The second Draugr hit him with a pointing blow, destabilising him.

NOZEL: A second one? Impossible.

-AMANDA: Watch out NOZEL, he's coming towards you again.

Just as he was about to hit NOZEL and the child, the second draugr charged towards NOZEL and the child, NOZEL protected himself by stretching out his arm, and was immediately frozen by the frost.

- NOZEL: But this is.

-AMANDA: LIDE's necklace.

* The draugr, stuck in the frost, remained motionless, and the two looked at NOZEL and AMANDA. Then, after the severed arms that had been attached to the baby NOZEL had saved disappeared into dust, the draugr regenerated by growing its two severed arms. The moment was brief, but NOZEL saw the draugr put both hands together as if in prayer. NOZEL and AMANDA, realising this, fled, as they had come to save the babies and not to confront the Draugr, and managed to leave the neonatal ward.

Amanda: Good thing the Draugr didn't follow us.

-NOZEL: Yes, yes, but it's not over yet. I felt his magic connect with the Colonel's. And I imagine it was this monster that accelerated the progress of the infection in IZUMO's body. And that the other one we met in Eatogias had marked IZUMO to bring the infection back to the capital. We have to leave this place and I'm getting lost in my thoughts.

-AMANDA: And it was this monster or draugr that killed LIDE?

-NOZEL: What? What are you talking about?

-AMANDA: You know, I may not have been in the military, but that doesn't mean I'm fooled.

-NOZEL: But Amanda, I didn't want to.

-AMANDA: You didn't have to, I was aware of the choice I was making in accepting LIDE's request and also in carrying his child, knowing full well that he was military and I knew that this day would eventually come.

-NOZEL: How did you know?

-AMANDA: NOZEL always told me that if one day I didn't hear his voice, then his magic would reach me to prove that he still cared for me and his son. I realised that the way his magic had been activated by his necklace was the same way we'd bonded the day we met. With this necklace, I don't regret my choice, I chose the best man there is.

-Nozel: You're right, Lide is exceptional, because even in death, he was able to save our lives. Without him, those newborn babies could have died. Look, there's the way out.

-Police Commander: Sergeant Nozel? What are you doing here? We've ordered everyone out of the building.

-NOZEL: There were still children in the neonatal ward and I must warn you that this area is extremely dangerous. We need a DAIMIO or ADNACHIELS to deal with this. Please take this seriously.

-POLICE COMMANDER: Right, Sergeant!

-Amanda to the ladies clamouring for their babies: There they are, your babies, safe and sound.

The children's mothers: Thank you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for what you've been able to do for us and for your courage, you who are like us but went to rescue our children.

-AMANDA: Thank you, that must be maternal instinct. Otherwise, take care of your children and don't stay here. Take an ambulance to evacuate you.

The children's mothers: thank you very much, your husband will be proud of you, 'GIRL POWER'.

-All right,' said AMANDA in a sad voice, heading for the ambulance. She got in and, once settled, the ambulance driver gave her back her child before leaving with her.

-Nozel: Shit, as well as having used up all my energy, I've broken my leg running out of this room. I'd have liked to go and help the colonel and Arima, though, because things are going to get really bad for them with that draugr around.

-Ambulance nurse: Sir, you're in no condition to do anything, so please come in and be treated in the ambulance.

-Nozel: I know, but...

- Nurse: I'm not going to tell you what you're risking by running out of arcane stone magic. The ambulance will be full otherwise, and those mothers won't be able to thank the saviour of their children.

- Nozel: OK, I'll come, you're right, I'm in no condition to change things.

- I've always been too late or too incapable to achieve anything, I'm not like you, ARIMA, IZUMO or ZARUBA. I'm not like you, who know how to get others out of the worst situations. LIDE even sacrificed themselves, and even beyond death, they saved our lives. ARIMA and IZUMO, I leave you once again in the midst of danger, facing a situation you won't be able to overcome. Forgive me, I'm not a Chosen One like you, I'm scared and overwhelmed by all this. 'I can only hope that you can get us out of this situation, Arima. When all this is over, I'll apologise to you', said Nozel, crying and expressing all her disappointment, while the nurse who was treating her just understood her emotions and said nothing.

At the same time, in the operating theatre.

-Soon: We're losing him. Is his fate already sealed? No, since when do I start thinking things like that?

-Nisha: Soon, look! His arms are already rotting. I've never seen anything like that before.

-I'm going to try and paralyse his nervous system to delay his putrefaction and the progress of his infection.

-ARIMA: Kof! Kof!

- Tamayo: Arima, are you all right? Your resistance to the spores is beginning to reach its limit. You should join Nozel outside, he might have finished with the hospital evacuation by now.

-ARIMA: I can hold out because IZUMO is fighting. I can't leave him here. Colonel, you can take the battalion back. I'll manage on my own.

-TAMAYO: No, I can hold out, but as soon as I see you've reached your limit, I'll evacuate you without your consent.

-ARIMA: OK, boss.

-TAMAYO: And I'm starting to feel a concentration of arcane energy up there. I don't know who it is, and it's been a while since our two best doctors failed to stabilise her since the operation. I don't want to think the worst.

-TAMAYO: Hey, kid, do you think he's going to make it?

-ARIMA: ...

-TAMAYO: I know why you're not saying anything, but in our work, death is too close to us and you have to understand that...

-ARIMA: I know that for his condition, the situation is only getting worse, but if I'd been in that operating theatre, Izumo would have told me to fight, he wouldn't have lost hope in his comrades like I have.

-DR SOON: It looks like this is it, he's starting to respond well.

-Tamayo and Arima: Oh finally.

- DR Soon: Well done Nisha, his body is starting to recover from the magic and his temperature is stabilising.

-NISHA: If it wasn't for you Soon, I don't know if I could have saved this young boy's life. I've never been stressed since a battlefield and Nanaba, you're exceptional. In the end, we avoided the worst.

-NANABA: ha ha! We worked well as a team.

-NISHA: Tamayo, we were able to save him. His condition has just stabilised, but he'll have to be quarantined for several weeks. I'm sorry about Lide, it was already too late for him.

-TAMAYO: Thank you, thank you very much Nisha, I owe you my life, and I don't care how many days it takes, as long as I've managed to save just one of my soldiers, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

-ARIMA: Thank you, thank you very much madam. You and Dr Soon are really strong. Bless you.

-DR SOON: OK, we're going to start evacuating him to safety. Nurse, please move the patient.

-NANABA: OK, Doctor, I'll get started.

-DR SOON: And also a big thank you to you, you've been exceptional for just a trainee.

-NANABA: Thank you, Doctor.

-DR SOON: NISHA, be happy, you're going to get a good promotion and it's well deserved. After all that, you've done three successful operations and a fourth.

- NISHA: I just want to sleep now.

- DR SOON: You've earned it.

- TAMAYO: Well, let's get out of here. ARIMA, the doctors will take care of the rest for Izumo, and I haven't forgotten your sanctions since Etogas.

-ARIMA: Alright boss, I've never been punished while being at peace like today.

-TAMAYO: Hm, you're very funny. It's been a long time since...

-ARIMA: You feel it too?

-ARIMA: Yes, Colonel, this energy has just moved, it's no longer up there.

-TAMAYO: Tell me, doctors, at 12 metres, which room is it?

-Soon: er, the neonatal room, I think, and we were planning to replace part of it, why?

-TAMAYO: We've missed something all along. We've only been paying attention to Izumo, but... Doctor, where is the morgue in this hospital?

-Soon: The morgue is on level -3, in the underground section.

- TAMAYO: Make sure you get out of here, all of you!

- SOON: What? Are you serious, Colonel?

-TAMAYO: Yes, something's going on. The Level 4 infection was just a foretaste, and Nozel mustn't come back here.

-NISHA: Hey TAMAYO, you've got to tell me what's going on.

TAMAYO: ARIMA, go get the nurse, we have to go.

-ARIMA: Get her?

-NISHA: Hey TAMAYO, I've trusted you so far, so you've got to tell me what's going on now.

-TAMAYO: I'm afraid I made a mistake bringing us all here.

-NISHA: What are you talking about?

-NANABA: Hey, your friend's woken up already. He's telling me something, but I can't hear very well.

-TAMAYO: Izumo? What are you trying to tell us, kid?

-ARIMA: Hang on, boss, I can feel a great concentration of magic.

-TAMAYO: Come on, make a bit of an effort, we're already half way there, we can't leave you here to die, son.

-IZUMO: Sorry boss, I lost the fight.

-Arima: Don't say that, brother.

-TAMAYO: Stop saying that, can you hear yourself?

-IZUMO, NISHA, SOON, ARIMA, NANABA: What?

-IZUMO, NISHA, SOON, ARIMA, NANABA: What?

Go away, get away from me! Izumo shouted.

At the same time, Tamayo ran towards Nisha and Soon to grab them and get away from Izumo. On the other hand, Arima ran to save Nanaba.

-To God, Colonel, to God, my friends, he closed his eyes, watched the others run away and then there was a great explosion of iron filings, followed by toxins that destroyed the whole hospital building. The explosion was rapid and gigantic, and even the evacuation of the colonel and his friends did not leave them unscathed.

They arrived under the propulsion of the explosion.

Don't tell me this is how it's going to end for you, kid, we'd already managed to save him. Where the hell did that draugr come from? Why has he cursed my life?' With a cry of despair, in front of the burning building, the colonel realised that the world was about to take a completely new turn and that the draugr had now reached enlightenment.
