Chapter 3 - A Mysterious Timeline.

"Viv, the priestesses called you to come eat." Elva knocked softly on the door, coming in to look at the boy who constantly looked out the window.

Viv turned his emerald, jeweled eyes towards Elva. They were both similarly dressed in church boy uniforms, and they even shared a room together with just the two of them, a luxury only available because Viv was a noble, and Elva came from the same village.

Currently they resided in a church in the capital, after news broke of a sudden monster attack near the Capital, the king sent a decree that sent hundreds of knights and mages to find out the cause and deal with the aftermath.

Orphans from the destroyed villages were put in church orphanages along with their fellow survivors, as many villages near the capital had been attacked. All of the Slachal Empire was on edge now, with the Emperor sending a letter to the Beast King to explain for the attacks, or else it would be all out war.

War was a funny thing. When Viv heard the news from Elva who read the newspaper, he almost couldn't hold in a laugh.

This is the world of LaD, a cliche all ages romance game with stereotypes and nothing too mature. Seeing how no war was mentioned from the female lead's perspective it probably didn't happen, and there's no way a war would happen while the childish female lead was alive.

Things may happen to him because he was just an extra, but a war would affect everyone.

"You're spacing out again." Elva observed, as he look in Viv's eyes was distant. "You know the nuns don't like it when we're late to mealtime."

"They'll give me more slack...I'm a noble after all." Vivillian let out a mocking scoff at his situation, from a 28 year old modern man to a 5 year old with no father, and then to a 6 year old orphan.

The social hierarchy in the Slachal Empire was truly enforced, with the main theme of LaD is the commoner female lead fighting against discrimination from nobles who use their status to bully her.

Even if Viv was basically a commoner, as long as he had the word baron next to his name in the country records, he still was granted more freedom and abilities than others.

Elva looked at Viv, not wanting to waste more time with a crazy person.

"Go." Viv finally spoke again." I'll come soon."

".." Elva didn't respond back as he walked back out, if he had the choice, he wouldn't want to associate with the monster before him at all. It was only because they were the only survivors of their village that they were placed together.

However, they say humans have the strongest ability to adapt and overcome, as Elva already found himself able to faintly read Viv's eccentric personality. Maybe it was a sign that he too had lost his humanity the day his home burned down, and he had saved a monster in the process.

I wonder why I was sent here.

Did the unknown being that brought me here only wants to toy with me? Do they enjoy my suffering? Should I simply give up on life right now so oppose this bastard being that reigned and looked at things from above?

I don't feel particularly sad about my mother's death, is it because I still regarded her as an extra? Surely there would be some feelings after living with her for a year...

{Ask and you will receive}.

"...?" Viv stared at a potted plant underneath him, it shared the windowsill with him for quite a while. It's stem had always bent happily towards him, if that wasn't unnatural enough, now it could talk?

"What if I said I didn't want to be human anymore?" Whether or not he had gone crazy already and was having hallucinations, or a flower pot god really did exist and wanted to grant him a wish, he didn't care. He more interested in seeing what he could get away with, with his weird power.

 {It can be granted}.

"What's the repercussions?" Viv tilted his head, smirking amusedly.

{It is an apology, so none}.

"Hah, an apology you say? From who? The bastard that made you? Or are you the top boss in the flower pot world?" Viv sneered.

Of course, the flower pot didn't answer.

 "How useless."

The flower pot did not answer.

"Let me be able to become anything I want." Viv's eyes narrowed, testing his limits.

 {Then it shall be granted}.

The flower in the plant began to bloom brilliantly as it glowed.

{Every full moon, you will shed the skin of humans and become what you most desire in any shape or form. However, you cannot hurt anyone with this blessing, and you must know what is it you wish to become to transform. Once the first rays of the sun begin to loom over the horizon, your blessing will disappear and you will once again hit the ground as a human}.

Then, the flower wilted just as those words shook from its leaves, and a translucent insignia floated towards Viv, pausing before it launched towards his abdomen.

"Ugh...!" A pained sensation overtook Viv as it felt like he was being branded with a smoking hot iron, like he was cattle.

Then, there was silence as Viv withstood the pain, panting alone and on his knees in the room.

"..." Outside the door, Elva's face was pale as he bit his lip till it bled.

Fuck, that monster really was crazy in the head!
