At one moment, he felt exhilaration as he watched countless Shades collapse lifelessly at his feet, their dark blood pooling around him. The sheer thrill of such a visceral experience—despite not being responsible for most of the kills—was oddly intoxicating. And then there were the spoils of this grim venture: the Abyssal Cores they'd collected. Each one could fetch a decent amount of stellars, and there was always the tantalizing prospect of uncovering relics. By all accounts, it was a fruitful expedition to him.
Yet regret crept in.
'I really shouldn't have come here, he thought,' his stomach twisting as he took in the scene before him.
