Chapter 7 - school tour.

Mei led Taro on a tour of the school, pointing out various landmarks and features. However, Taro seemed distant, his gaze wandering off in different directions.

As they walked, Mei tried to engage him in conversation. "So, Taro, what do you think of our school so far?"

Mei took a step back, her eyes narrowing at Taro's smirk. "I'm done with the tour," she said curtly, turning to walk back to class.

Taro followed her, his long strides easily keeping up with her hurried pace. "Weren't you supposed to give me the tour, honour student?" he taunted, his voice dripping with amusement.

Mei shot him an annoyed glare. "Hey, what do you think you are, Mister?"

Taro chuckled, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Me? Nothing. Just a normal student."

His smirk grew wider as Mei's expression darkened. She quickened her pace, eager to escape his irritating presence.

As they entered the classroom, the teacher raised an eyebrow. "That was a very quick tour."

Mei hesitated, unsure how to respond. Taro spoke up, his voice innocent. "Yes, sir. Actually, the class president wasn't feeling well, and I was tired too, so we came back halfway."

Mei glared at him, her eyes flashing with anger. But she said nothing, biting back a retort.

The teacher nodded sympathetically. "Okay, you can take the school tour some other time."

Taro's smirk lingered, his eyes never leaving Mei's face. She felt a shiver run down her spine, unsure what to make of his enigmatic behaviour.

Taro's gaze lingered on Mei, his expression unreadable. For a moment, they just stared at each other, the tension between them palpable.

Mei felt her heart racing, unsure how to react. Taro's silence was unnerving.

Finally, Taro spoke up, his voice laced with disdain. "It's just like every other school. Full of shallow people pretending to be something they're not."

Mei felt a sting from his words, but she tried to remain calm. "That's a pretty harsh judgment. You've only just arrived."

Taro shrugged, his eyes glinting with defiance. "I can see enough. People like you, class president, always trying to control everyone else."

Mei's face heated up, feeling a surge of anger. "Hey, I'm just trying to do my job and keep the peace."

Taro's gaze pierced through her, his expression unyielding. Mei felt like he could see right through her, into the depths of her soul.

The tension between them was palpable, the air thick with unspoken emotions. Mei wondered what had triggered Taro's animosity towards her and the school.

Mei and Taro returned to their seats, the teacher resuming the lesson. But Taro's attention remained fixed on Mei. He leaned in, his breath whispering against her ear.

"Honour student, I'll make your life hell."

Mei's heart skipped a beat. She turned to face him, her eyes flashing with defiance. Taro's smirk made her blood boil.

"Really? Let's see. Don't take me so easy. You don't know what I'm capable of, Taro."

Taro's grin widened, his eyes glinting with amusement.

The bell rang, signaling the end of the school day. Mei gathered her belongings and stepped outside, eager to escape Taro's unsettling presence.

That's when she saw Kaito, waving at her from across the yard. Mei's face lit up with a smile as she waved back.

But her joy was short-lived. Taro appeared beside her, his voice low and menacing.

"Is he your boyfriend?"

Mei spun around, startled. "What are you talking about? He's my friend."

Kaito, noticing Mei's distress, began walking towards her. His eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched.

Unaware of Kaito's approach, Mei continued arguing with Taro.

"I don't know why you're bothering me. Just leave me alone."

Kaito's voice cut through the tension. "Hey, Mei. Let's go. I'll drop you home."

Mei's eyes lit up. "Huh, Kaito oppa? Yes, let's go home."

Taro interfered, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Hello, oppa. I'm Mei's new friend, Taro."

Kaito's smile masked his inner fury. "Nice to meet you, Taro. But why are you calling me oppa?"

Taro's grin was mischievous. "Because Mei was calling you oppa."

Kaito's eyes flashed with possessiveness. Mei, oblivious to the tension, smiled at Kaito.

Kaito and Mei walked towards his car, enjoying the warm afternoon sun. Suddenly, Taro appeared, running towards them with a charming smile.

"Hey, oppa! Can you give me a drop? I live near here too."

Kaito's smile masked his inner annoyance. "Sure, Taro. Come get in the car."

As Mei opened the front passenger door, Taro swooped in, occupying the seat with a mischievous grin.

"Sorry, this seat's taken. You sit in the back, Mei."

Mei's eyes widened in indignation. "What the...!"

Kaito's eyes flashed with anger, but he kept his cool. "Taro, that's not necessary."

Taro chuckled, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Oh, I insist. Oppa's generous, right?"

Mei fumed, sliding into the backseat. Kaito's gaze met hers in the rearview mirror, his eyes apologetic.

As Kaito started driving, the tension inside the car grew thicker than the summer air.

Taro continued to chat, oblivious to the strained atmosphere. "So, oppa, what do you do?"

Kaito's response was curt. "I'm a college student.

Taro's eyes sparkled. "Impressive
