Chapter 9: Killing the Herd (1)

After getting my reward I immediately ran away. Based on my own understanding of strength, if I were to be brave and fight those Saber Tooth Moose Lions, at best I can kill 3 however we are talking about an entire herd here.
The rest of them won't just watch as I kill their members, they will rush at me and potentially kill me, so the only solution I have for this predicament is slowly kill off their young when they're not looking and farm MP to buy an offensive martial art to make myself stronger.
"MOOOOOOOO!!" I heard the pained cries of the moose and felt a pang of pain inside of my consciousness. But it was too late, I was at the point of no return.
I unconsciously covered my ears to block their pained cries and ran away. As I was running away I heard loud noises, trees were knocked down from their anger.
After running for some time, I fell with a thud on one of the trees. My breath heavy; not from fatigue but from guilt.
"Status," I whispered.

'That's good. I'm gonna come back tomorrow or the day after, once they have grieved.' I said to myself.
'Let down your guard. And once you have forgotten your grief, I will strike again.'
And then I left the forest.

I got home. This time I was on time and so I was not reprimanded like the last time.
I tried my best to conceal my lingering thoughts and guilt to not arouse suspicion. And it is working, from their point of view I was just out to play when in reality I was out commiting murder.
It was not a pleasant thing to feel but the pleasure of getting stronger outweighs the guilt.
I opened up the [Martial Store] and looked for offensive martial arts. Upon clicking it a wide array of techniques was opened before me.

Dragon Claw Strike
Cost: 10 MP
A technique that mimics the ferocity and power of a dragon. The user channels Qi into their hands, hardening them to the strength of steel. When executed, the strike can tear through solid objects, shatter bones, and leave deep gashes in an opponent. Its true power lies in its ability to channel destructive energy directly into the target's body, causing internal damage.
Thunderous Palm
Cost: 9 MP
A technique that utilizes Qi to enhance the user's palm strikes. By focusing energy into the palms, the user can release a concussive blast on impact, similar to a thunderclap. This move is highly effective in close combat, where a single strike can incapacitate or even kill. The palm strike is accompanied by a shockwave that can knock back multiple opponents.
Serpent Whip
Cost: 7 MP
This technique draws inspiration from the fluid and unpredictable movements of a serpent. The user enhances their limbs with Qi, allowing them to strike with the speed and flexibility of a whip. The Serpent Whip can be used to disarm opponents, strike from unexpected angles, or entangle and break limbs. Its fluidity makes it difficult to predict and counter.
Blazing Meteor Fist
Cost: 15 MP
A technique that involves gathering Qi into the user's fists, igniting it with intense heat. At its full mastery when the fist is launched, it moves with the speed and power of a meteor, leaving a trail of flames in its wake. The Blazing Meteor Fist can melt through armor and incinerate flesh, making it one of the most destructive techniques available. Its raw power is matched only by its consumption of Qi, making it a double-edged sword.
Gale Cutter Blade
Cost: 13 MP
This technique channels Qi into the user's hands or weapon, creating a sharp wind that extends beyond the reach of the physical strike. The Gale Cutter Blade can slice through opponents at a distance, making it ideal for mid-range combat. The wind blade is nearly invisible, making it difficult for opponents to defend against or even see the attack coming.
Titan's Crushing Grip
Cost: 10 MP
A grappling technique that enhances the user's grip strength to superhuman levels. When executed, the user can crush bones, shatter weapons, and immobilize opponents with a single hand. This technique is especially effective against larger opponents, allowing the user to control and overpower them through sheer strength. The Titan's Crushing Grip also allows for devastating throws and slams.
Phoenix Wing Slash
Cost: 13 MP
A technique inspired by the mythical Phoenix. The user channels Qi into their arms, imbuing them with the essence of the Phoenix. When executed, the arms move like wings, unleashing a series of rapid slashes that can overwhelm and eviscerate opponents. The Phoenix Wing Slash is both graceful and lethal, combining speed with precision. Each slash leaves a burning aftereffect, inflicting additional damage over time.
Scorpion Tail Strike
Cost: 7 MP
A unique martial art that mimics the deadly strike of a scorpion's tail. The user focuses Qi into their lower body, enabling them to deliver swift and powerful kicks with pinpoint accuracy. The Scorpion Tail Strike is designed to target vital points, breaking bones, and rupturing organs with minimal effort. Its deceptive speed and sudden execution make it difficult for opponents to anticipate.
Tempest Dragon Roar
Cost: 10 MP
A technique that channels Qi into the user's voice, allowing them to unleash a powerful roar that can disorient and incapacitate opponents. The roar is imbued with the force of a tempest, creating shockwaves that can knock back or even topple enemies. The Tempest Dragon Roar can also be used to break up formations or clear a path through a crowd.

Each of these martial arts promised incredible power, but I knew that choosing the right one would define my future battles.
As I scrolled through the list, one caught my eye—Blazing Meteor Fist. The sheer destructive potential and its synergy with my Phoenix Breathing technique made it an ideal choice.
Though from just the names of the techniques presented before me the most ideal option should be {Phoenix Wing Slash} due to it and my breathing technique both being derived from Phoenix.
But right now what I'm going for is a technique that deals the most damage.
{Blazing Meteor Fist} is a double edge sword. It is a destructive martial art that is only matched by its raw consumption of qi but if I use my {Phoenix Breathing} fast Qi Regeneration then I can compensate for that flaw and create the perfect synergy between destruction and constant replenishment.
The only downside is its cost. Amongst the selection it was the most expensive which was a statement of just how powerful this martial art is.
By the way I just noticed the small note in the top, it says (Martial Explorer Stage Martial Arts) does that mean that there are also other levels?
"Hey, system, can you give me an example of a martial art from the higher stages?"
[The host doesn't have access due to the host still being in the (Martial Explorer Realm). But to provide perspective, the system can make exceptions]
{Taichi Redirecting Fist}
Cost: 100 MP
A technique derived from the philosophy of Taoism, emphasizing the redirection and control of an opponent's force. The user harnesses incoming attacks, absorbing their energy and smoothly redirecting it back at the attacker with amplified power. This technique allows the user to turn an opponent's strength against them, maintaining balance while delivering devastating counterstrikes.
"What the fuck!?" It sounds so simple but costs 100MP!! Holy shit this is insane.
Maybe I'm just too weak to understand that right now. I'm gonna ignore that and just focus on what's before me lest I lose sight of my goal.
