A week had passed by since the day I passed out. During this time my training with Lily continued as usual. But there was nothing new in the training regimen.
It was the usual routine of exploring different diseases that affect different plants. My efficiency had increased but I couldn't get into the state that I experienced when I passed out.
If I could get into that state once again it would be really beneficial for me.
There was a day when I exhausted myself till I collapsed but I didn't get that feeling. The trigger to enter that state were still unknown to me.
I asked Lily whether she knew how I could get into that state but she said that it was something natural and couldn't be stimulated.
I had also signed contract with the guild with Lily promising me resources to strength myself along with personal training till I could figure out my own path.
I also managed to get a job at a local farm. The work was physically intensive but I was able to use my blessings on some plants. There were also some farm animals there and I was planing to make them my test subjects after I had familiarised myself with the diseases affecting animals.
By the time I reached home I couldn't wait to lie down on the bed.
It turned out that the grandma was actually owner of bakery. I thought about asking her if I could work there but I didn't want to burden her more.
She was already providing me with a place to sleep and food to eat free of cost.
Right now I had concluded my work at the farm and was going home.
Right then a drunkard bumped into me spilling some beer on my clothes.
At that moment I thought about using my abilities on him.
It was like I stumbled upon perfect test subject.
He wouldn't even remember what happened to him and even if he died no would even care.
If a investigation was perhaps carried out I just somehow have to find a way to not trace it back to me.
"Be careful man. Where do you want to go. I'll help you get to your home or wherever you would like to go." I asked the man with a friendly smile.
"It was my bad. Sorry that I hic spilled some beer on you."
"No worries. Le the help you there." I said while supporting him with my arm.
"So where do you want go."
"I wanted to hic go to Marl Inn."
"Then let's go." I said to the man as we started to walk.
I was waiting for him to pass out and as such I kept walking him in circles while walking in narrow alleys.
I had to walk for few minutes before he passed out.
Now he was like a lab rat waiting to be cut open.
But what should I do with him.
I didn't want to try something like common cold which would hardly show any results.
What should I do. I also didn't have a lot of time as there was always the possibility of anyone pass through here or him waking up.
Finally I couldn't think anymore. So many diseases were passing through my brain but there was always some problem with it.
My specialisation as a surgeon wasn't helping as well. Finally I couldn't take it anymore.
No matter how much I racked my brain I could come up with nothing.
Should I just leave. I was pointlessly wasting my time here.
After a few more moments I left the alley leaving the drunkard there.
At one point I thought about drinking his blood but the very thought of me drinking his blood made me throw up.
The next day I headed towards the guild to train with Lily.
But as I was passing by I overheard an interesting piece of news.
"Did you hear a drunkard was killed in an alley near Marl Inn. They are yet to disclose the name of the man that died. They say that the army is going to undertake a full scale investigation after they are done with monster extermination."
Was it the same person that I had encountered yesterday. Was someone monitoring me. How could I gather more information without being seen suspicious. And I didn't even know the name of that man.
I could just pray that the man that was killed and the man on whom I was thinking of performing experiments with weren't the same.
Even if the person was the same there was nothing I could do at the moment. Pushing those thoughts out of my head I headed to the guild.
As usual Lily was there. Did she never take a leave. And was there no concept of Sunday in this world. I hadn't even seen a calendar after all this time.
"Did you hear about what happened yesterday night?" Lily asked as soon as we entered training room.
"Yes, I overheard some people talking about a murder happening somewhere around Marl Inn. I wasn't able to hear where the murder happened exactly. If it happened near the route I take home after returning from farm I might have to leave early from today."
"You don't have to worry about that. The route you take when going to Grandma Olivia's house and the place where the murder happened can be said to be almost at the opposite ends but you should still be careful."
"Anyways you don't have to worry about it that much. The army is more competent and they will have captured the murderer by the end of the day."
"What you should worry about instead is what you have to do today. All this while we have been focusing on making different diseases affect the plants and trying to increase your proficiency. But from today we will switch things up."
"What you will have to do is infect a pant with a disease and then you also have to cure it. Since you are a beginner when it comes to healing you don't have to test your limits the way we are doing it for the past few days."
"Just affect the plants till it starts to show symptoms and once the symptoms have manifested you have to start your counterattack."
"And since you are familiar with the plants you will not be getting the reference book."
It was certainly a new way of training. I was familiar with all the plants that Lily had kept in front of me and I could easily think of multiple diseases that I was familiar with.
Even though healing the plants was like a sort of challenge I was actually looking forward to it. The first thing that came to my mind was about how plants fight the bacteria by using toxins.
I couldn't command the toxins but I could replicate them with my energy.
So without wasting any time I started with the first plant. Within a few minutes the effects were visible.
Now that the disease had affected the plant I started the process of healing it.
It was the same as first day. Trying to make visible efforts with more efforts. But this time I knew what I was aiming for.
I just had to make the plant go back to its optimal condition. By providing it with nutrients as well as killing of the infections occurring due to bacterial growth.
The first thing I started off with was killing the bacterias. I noticed it one time when I was training but if I concentrated more I was actually able to feel the flow of my energy. Right now it was weak and as a result a lot of energy was getting wasted in the transfer process.
But the fact that transfer of energy was occurring meant that I was headed in the right direction.
After some time the connection broke. I was successful in killing of those bacteria. But another problem awaited me.
The plant was still looking wilted. It would take time for it to go back to its original state but I wanted to find a way to make it go back to its original state.
At presented the white spots were still present on the plant as well as it stem was looking a bit dried up.
I then proceeded to with the initial plan of using my energy to replicate the nutrients which the plants require.
But I didn't have a clear direction as to where exactly I was supposed to aim before shooting my arrow.
It was like firing blind and hoping to get the results somehow. Even though this approach was giving results sometimes I couldn't rely on it all the time to get the desired results.
I needed a surest method which would produce some kind of result even if the result produced was nominal.
As I was racking my brain an idea struck me. To best recover any living organism requires nutrition. What the plant needed was nutrition.
And so I got back on to my previous approach of using my energy to replicate nutrients.
Plants on earth requires Phosphorus, Potassium, Nitrogen to grow to their best stage in optimal quantity.
I didn't know the specific name of the nutrients that the plant required here but the way it worked should be somehow similar. Or least that was what I hoped as it would give me the desired result.
And so I started to pour in my energy into the plant hoping to get the desired result.
The changes that were happening to plant weren't visible but after some time had passed I could tell that the plant had recovered somewhat to its previous state.
I watered the plant and then moved on to the next plant as I had achieved the result that I wanted. I wanted to do something about the dried up stem but felt like a waste of lot of efforts.
