"No, no, ridiculous, too short, too long, too colorful." Eliana sighed as she kept throwing more clothes from her wardrobe to the bed. There was nothing for her to wear. Today is the first time she will be meeting Charlotte Sanders and she knew that Charlotte was a hard woman to impress. Though the owner of a large foundation, she is said to also have her hands in politics, and even though they are all rumors, Eliana once heard that the mastermind behind the successful election of Logan Brooks as the Mayor of Rosehill City was Charlotte Sanders, and although the rumors died after a week, it still made Eliana curious about what type of woman Charlotte Sanders was.
The loud ringing tone of her phone brought her out of her thoughts and she saw it was Jason calling her.
"Hello."
"Why did you end the call without even saying goodbye?"
Eliana rolled her eyes and said "Because my mom was watching me. You know she hates it when I speak to you."
"Who cares what Sloane likes or dislikes? Why are you even still in that house? I thought you wanted to leave, find your apartment or something?"
"Leaving is not that easy. Let's talk about something else. In two hours, I will be having dinner with the Sanders family, but I have nothing to wear."
"What do you mean you have nothing to wear? Thanks to your modeling career, you have acquired different collections of clothes, and besides, who cares what you wear? After all, you are the sister-in-law, not the bride."
"I care about what I wear and I also heard that Ryan will be at tonight's gathering."
"So you are planning to catch his eyes? Are you seriously thinking of getting married to the same family as your sister?"
"That is none of your business, just think about something for me to wear."
Jason sighed. "Then, how about that white gown you wore for your birthday party? It looked beautiful on you."
"Really?"
"I'm sure Ryan won't be able to take his eyes off you just the way I couldn't."
"What?"
"I'm busy. Enjoy your dinner, and I hope he hates you at first sight," Jason said spitefully and ended the call
"Huh? What's his problem?" Eliana murmured to herself, tossing the phone onto the bed.
She remembered the white dress Jason was talking about, it was the one Zach had bought for her on his business trip a day before her birthday, and she had only worn it once. Perhaps wearing it today wouldn't be a bad idea.
...
Vernice Estate.
Vernice Estate is one of the most expensive and beautiful estates in Rosehill City. Amber has only heard of it, but today, she gets to enter it.
She looked in awe as her father drove through the estate, and she felt proud that one day, all these would soon belong to her. No more will the fact that she is the daughter of a maid matter and even if one day the truth of her birth is known to the public, no one will dare to offend her.
The car stopped in front of a huge mansion, and a man dressed in a black suit opened the door for Henry and collected his car key to park the car properly.
Henry gave his wife and children a sharp look as he said, "I want no drama tonight."
Sloane looked at Amber and asked, "Did you bring a gift for your future mother-in-law?"
Amber clenched her purse and nodded "I hope she likes it."
"Remember what I told you, Amber. It's impossible not to love you." Sloane said affectionately.
Eliana looked away from the mother and daughter duo and heard her father saying "Let's go inside."
After ringing the doorbell once, the door opened revealing an elegantly dressed woman who looks like she is in her late forties.
So this was Charlotte Sanders? Wow, she is even more beautiful than seen on the TV, Eliana thought.
Henry gave Charlotte the wine he was holding and said, "This is the famous La Cruise wine, I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do."
Charlotte looks at the wine in Henry's hand for a moment before accepting it. "Thank you."
She stepped aside for the guests to enter and shouted the name, "Jules."
A man in his sixties rushed into the living room and Charlotte handed the wine to him, saying. "Tell Diana that it should be served at dinner."
The man named Jules nodded and left with the wine.
"Aunt Charlotte." Amber softly called. She has never really spoken to this woman because whenever they would meet, Charlotte would always dismiss her and claim she had a meeting, but today was going to be different, she was going to win this woman's heart today.
Charlotte turned to look at the young girl before her, she watched as the girl bought out a velvet box from her purse and handed it to her.
Charlotte opened it and saw that it was a beautiful pair of diamond earrings
"When I saw it at the store, I felt it would look good on you so I...."
"Thank you. But it's a shame, though, because except for dinner, I have no gifts to give to you." Charlotte said closing the box and placing it on her center table.
"We are about to become families so there is plenty of time to give each other gifts. We should just enjoy this evening." Sloane said with a smile.
Charlotte just nodded without saying anything, she glanced at Eliana, who was looking at her, and asked, "Is there something on my face? You haven't stopped staring at me since you got here."
"Huh?" Eliana asked in surprise, she quickly looked away, feeling flustered.
"Forget it. Dinner should be ready, let's go to the dining table. The boys will be joining us soon." Charlotte said and led the way to the dining room.
They all took a seat at the dining table, and a woman came out and softly asked, "Should I serve the meal now?"
"Not yet. Zach and Ryan aren't here yet but you can pour us some wine." Charlotte replied and the woman nodded.
" I have been thinking, since our children are getting married soon, wouldn't it be a good idea to join TM Entertainment and Vince Entertainment together? With our companies merging, our entertainment company will forever be the best in the field."
"Vince Entertainment is already the best in its field, it doesn't need merging with another company to remain so." Charlotte coldly replied.
"But...."
"Mom!" An excited male voice shouted as he walked towards the dining room.
And for the first time, Eliana saw Charlotte Sanders's face lit up as she quickly stood up to hug her son.
"Look at you, you look so grown," Charlotte said softly.
Ryan chuckled and said, "You say that every time you see me."
So this was Ryan Sanders. Eliana found it hard to believe that this man was the same age as her. He was tall, had dark hair, and looked just like his mother. He looked so different from what she had heard, for someone who had a code name called the black viper, he actually looked friendly, but then again, looks can be deceiving.
