Douluo Continent, Suotuo City.
"Only one room?" Tang San frowned as he stood by the counter at the Rose Hotel, turning his head to speak quietly to Xiao Wu, who was next to him, "Xiao Wu, there's only one room left. Should we find another hotel?"
Xiao Wu casually replied, "One room is fine. What's the big deal? It's not like we haven't slept together before at Nuoding Academy. Plus, we can save money to buy new clothes."
Behind the counter, the staff overheard and gave Tang San a look that implied more than words could express. Then he added, "Don't worry, the room is very spacious, the bed is soft, and there won't be any noise. You won't be disturbed."
"Alright then," Tang San reluctantly agreed. Xiao Wu was right—after sleeping together for so many years, one more night wouldn't make a difference.
Just as the staff was about to proceed with their booking, a nasal voice suddenly interrupted, halting the transaction.
"That room is mine. Leave it for me."
Turning toward the voice, Tang San and Xiao Wu saw a man accompanied by two women approaching the counter.
The two women were dressed extravagantly, appearing to be in their early twenties, with heavy makeup and revealing outfits. Their figures were mature and voluptuous, especially their chests, which were impressively full. Tang San almost lost himself in the sight for a moment. Judging by their appearance, Tang San guessed their profession—courtesans.
The man was over 1.8 meters tall, looking slightly younger than the two women. His light golden eyes were especially strange, as they contained double pupils, which naturally drew attention.
Normally, someone with such unusual eyes would be considered handsome, but the man was quite the opposite. His complexion was pale, clearly overindulging in excesses, and his body was overweight to the point that one could imagine extracting 100 pounds of oil from him.
The exposed parts of his body even showed hints of spots resembling corpse marks. It was hard to imagine how someone like this could have such rare eyes.
At that moment, the obese young man was blinking his golden pupils, one arm around each woman's neck, hands exploring inside their clothing, while his gaze fixated on Xiao Wu. He licked his thick lips as he stared at her with burning desire in his eyes.
Noticing the man's lecherous gaze, Tang San frowned, his eyes growing cold. He stepped forward, shielding Xiao Wu, and said icily, "Sorry, I booked this room first."
The obese man ignored Tang San and turned to the hotel staff, saying, "You must be new here. Don't you know there's always a room reserved for me?"
"And you are?" the staff hesitated, unsure, and asked tentatively.
"Go call your manager," the man replied impatiently.
Sensing trouble, the staff quickly ran to get their superior.
Having been ignored, Tang San frowned again and said coldly, "Sir, I arrived first."
"So what?" the man continued to ignore Tang San, his eyes still lecherously fixed on Xiao Wu. A girl so young and pure—he hadn't encountered one in a long time.
Feeling disgusted by the man's gaze, Xiao Wu's brows furrowed, and she moved to stand beside Tang San, glaring fiercely, "So what? I want this fat pig to get lost!" She emphasized the words "fat pig," her tone heavy and biting.
The two women beside the man trembled at Xiao Wu's words and glanced at her with sympathy. The term "fat pig" was a taboo for this man, and anyone who dared call him that in Suotuo City never ended well.
Sure enough, the obese man flew into a rage. He roughly withdrew his hands from the women's clothes, pushing them aside as his gaze, once filled with lust, turned to fury. "Good, very good. In two years, no one has dared insult me like that. I can sense spirit power from you both. Fine, let's settle this the way spirit masters do. Both of you come at me. If you win, the room is yours. If you lose, little girl, tonight I'll show you how strong I, Evil Eye White Tiger Dai Mubai, really am."
Hearing Dai Mubai's words, the two women, who had just been pushed aside, couldn't help but twitch their lips. They knew Dai Mubai's "strength" all too well. Due to his mutated martial soul, his stamina was impressive, but calling him "strong" was like using chopsticks to describe a water barrel—hardly fitting. Not to mention, that part of him was disfigured with scars from burns. Were it not for the hefty payments and their fear of his status as a spirit master, they would have never taken on the job.
Hearing Dai Mubai demand Xiao Wu accompany him tonight, Tang San's anger flared. His killing intent was unmistakable as he stepped forward, coldly replying, "There's no need. I can handle this alone."
Dai Mubai raised an eyebrow and sneered, "Fine, I'll oblige you. White Tiger Possession!"
A burst of powerful blue-white light erupted from his body as he hunched over slightly, his arms hanging down, bones cracking audibly as his body swelled, shredding his clothes.
Two yellow and one purple spirit rings rose from Dai Mubai's feet, circling around him.
As the blue-white light faded, what stood before everyone was a humanoid creature with the head of a white tiger and the body of an ape. The temperature in the hall seemed to rise slightly at the appearance of this "Ape Tiger."
"Haha, this is supposed to be a White Tiger? It's a fat monkey with a crown on its head! Xiao San, is this where the saying 'In the absence of a tiger, the monkey reigns as king' comes from? I can't take it, this is hilarious!" Unable to hold back, Xiao Wu burst into laughter at the sight of Dai Mubai's absurd martial soul.
Tang San's lips also twitched as he tried to suppress a smile. He had seen strange martial souls before, but this combination of a fat ape and a tiger was by far the strangest.
"Dai Mubai, mutated White Tiger martial soul, level 33 assault-type Spirit Elder. Boy, I'll give you thirty seconds to activate your martial soul, or don't blame me for being unfair." Dai Mubai gritted his teeth as Xiao Wu's ridicule stung him deeply.
In the past two years, his life had taken a sharp turn. Once a handsome and charming man, everything changed when he broke through to level 30.
Now lost in thought, Dai Mubai didn't notice that Tang San had already summoned his Blue Silver Grass martial soul, two yellow spirit rings glowing brightly around him.
"Tang San, Blue Silver Grass martial soul, level 29 control-type Spirit Master. Please guide me."
Interrupted from his thoughts, Dai Mubai's face darkened. His first yellow spirit ring lit up as he activated his skill, 'Ape Tiger Barrier,' and lunged at Tang San.
Tang San, unafraid, met him head-on with his Blue Silver Grass technique. The two quickly engaged in a fierce battle.
However, none of them noticed that outside the Rose Hotel, a young girl with a cold expression was standing there, watching the two fight.
She was a girl with near-perfect features. Dressed in tight black leather, her long black hair draped over her shoulders. Her skin was pale, and her figure was unexpectedly full and voluptuous for someone of her age. Her face held a cold, emotionless expression. Her dark eyes were devoid of any vitality, which contrasted sharply with her otherwise stunning appearance. Her limbs were proportionate and slender.
At this moment, she exuded a chilling aura of lifelessness that was hard to endure. Her hands were clenched, and on her beautiful face, a mixture of disappointment, disgust, and helplessness was evident, eventually culminating in a sigh.
She had completely lost hope in the man before her. From now on, she would have to survive on her own. Casting one final disdainful glance at Dai Mubai, the girl was about to turn and leave when the space around her suddenly twisted bizarrely, and she lost consciousness, disappearing from where she stood.
In her place, at some unknown moment, a lifeless doll appeared.
