The spaceship was fallowing his fine perfectly studied parabolic curve. It was gliding smoothly. They were so close to the bright surface of Jupiter that the tiny shadow of the Egg appeared on the bright vaporous surface, sliding swiftly upon it.
"All right, now we're moving away!" announced Nero.
And the spaceship that arrived to the closest possible distance from the surface started to move away, crosswise. They were now at maximum speed.
"Get ready!"
The Egg was then propelled on a straight trajectory, just like a round stone suddenly released from a slingshot and catapulted forward by the effect of a powerful centrifugal force.
They soon reached their final constant velocity that was significantly higher than before. Now that the acceleration had ceased, Gropius was able to unglue himself from the ceiling.
"Wow!" he said. "We've made it safely!"
