As the lively music played, the people on the dance floor partied like there was no tomorrow. Some had just arrived, while others were clearly drunk, wobbling their way to the dance floor.
As the hours passed, more and more people came inside the club. Zenon, who was sitting on the balcony on the second floor with a glass of cognac in his hand, observed them, lost in thought.
Ever since yesterday, he had been feeling a bit odd and frustrated. It had something to do with Kaisen moving in with him.
It was the chairman's idea. His father insisted on having them in one house, giving the reason that it would build their relationship. As if that would happen. It was his idea to arrange for him to be married to the person he blamed for the death of his first love.
How could he have a good relationship with Kaisen?
He was so angry with his father when he called to inform him that Kaisen was moving in without prior notice. Zenon hated the idea of being married to that omega, and he hated even more the idea of living with him, where he could see him whenever he went home.
So he decided to lock him up in his room. That way, he wouldn't be seeing Kaisen whenever he went home.
"Aren't you being cruel to him?" The guy sitting across him commented. He was sitting comfortably with his feet resting on the edge of the table, a glass of cognac in his hand.
He was Zenon's cousin and closest friend, Leon Acosta.
Zenon ignored his comment. He dragged his gaze from the dance floor to his own glass, then he drank it empty.
"You know how uncle feels for Mr. Ashworth's only son." Leon looked away to avoid Zenon's deadly glare.
"If I can't be happy, he can't be happy either. Who knows, he might be the one who suggested this in the first place." His tone was firm and full of hatred.
Leon let out a deep breath. "If that's really how you feel, let's change our topic. How's the partnership with the Williams?"
"I'm reconsidering it," Zenon answered, not really giving it a thought.
"Reconsidering is good. Honestly, I'm having second thoughts. You know how the current CEO feels for alphas. Everyone in the business industry knows how he hates the likes of us. He's not so great himself anyway." Then Leon went on and on, insulting the current CEO of Williams and a bunch of other topics that Zenon didn't really pay attention to.
Shaking the glass of cognac in circles, his mind drifted to the incident this morning. The shooter was dead, having killed himself with a poison when his men found him.
These incidents didn't really occur often, and it had been so long since the last attack. Although he didn't want to admit it, he was distracted by his interaction with Kaisen in the car.
He knew in his heart that he hated this omega. He despised the person who had all the reason to be the suspect of killing Cassian but managed to get away with it with his victim act.
Leon was so caught up in his stories that he became oblivious to how Zenon's grip on the glass tightened, showing the veins in his grip.
"...You remember Ella? She still asked me for your contact even though I told her that you were already married. And speaking of marriage... isn't that your omega?" His eyes were looking down to the dance floor.
Zenon, who was pulled from his thought by that question, followed Leon's gaze. And there he saw that silver-haired omega, guided by a bar worker holding Kaisen's right arm around the worker's shoulder to support him.
"Thought you locked him up."
Zenon didn't answer, rather he went back to drinking. He didn't feel the need to do anything. It's better that Kaisen isn't in his mansion, whether he goes somewhere or what happens to him, he didn't care.
"He looked drunk. I don't remember Kaisen drinking before." Leon, his eyes still on Kaisen, said. "Don't you think you should go down?"
"I don't see the relevance to do so."
"If people were to recognize he is Kaisen, he'll make it to the headlines. Silver hair isn't common anyway. Knowing uncle, he'll know that we're here so he'll think that we disrespected him by abandoning Kaisen. And then he'll attack your companies. Then my company since we're together. I just hope Reese is here too so he'll get attacked with us."
Zenon looked at him, his face devoid of any emotion. "Are you done?" He sounded like he was fed up with this cousin of his. He just talks more than needed.
Leon sheepishly laughed and spouted a 'yeah' to answer Zenon.
"If you're concerned about it, why don't you do it?"
"That'll just make it worse. I'm an alpha, although not a dominant like you are, but I'm still an alpha. If I were to help my cousin-in-law in his current state, you know how the media plays with words. My father would behead me for performing adultery with my dear cousin's omega." Leon explained.
"You're exaggerating."
Seeing that his cousin doesn't have any plans on helping his cousin-in-law, Leon stood up and spouted 'I'll be right back' before leaving. And true to his words, after a few minutes Leon came back. Zenon looked at him with his brows meeting the other because of Leon's look.
His ironed suit was now wrinkled. His styled hair was disheveled. And he was panting as if he had run a marathon. But what caught Zenon's attention wasn't the unorganized look of Leon but the sweet scent that came off from him. It was a scent of omega pheromones.
"You have such a vigorous omega, dear couz. I put him in your car, he's your responsibility now. Uncle will kill you if something happens."
