"Where is everyone?" Lydia asked, her voice strained with an edge of concern. "And where's Theodore?"
But no one answered.
Helena gulped, as she knew the answer if where Theodore was. Dead.
A guard finally stepped forward, his face still blank. "The Duke will see you shortly," he said curtly, before gesturing for them to follow. The tone was unfamiliar, cold, and formal, unlike the way the old guards would speak. Lydia hesitated, a flicker of doubt passing through her features, but her desire to see Theodore pushed her forward.
Why did he call Theodore the duke? He hated titles.
Helena however frowned, 'What did he mean the duke will see them?' there was no duke anymore she thought, Why were they lying?
