As neither of them had heard the beast's unnatural and bone-chilling voice the girls looked on utterly shocked by the unexpected and unforeseen sight. But for some unexplainable reason, Atara, the girl who was the child of a noble wasn't at all afraid to hear the beast speak.
She seemed more surprised by its presence if anything. Almost as if she had seen it somewhere before. But just at the same time, the beast noticed her its anger flared once more, and from its blood-soaked maw, it said.
"Human!" in the most terrifying voice.
Its malice was now directed to her in full force as it reached for her.
With Nessa and Cassie busy with the shadow beasts and Kaleb seemingly out of commission, there was no one to stop the beast. Using its talons, it barreled down on Atara. With no time to think, Rayna swiftly moved between them and the beast stopped, its malice partially subsiding. Then it asked in a demanding and confused tone.
