Kaleb felt the wave of power radiating from it. Yes, it was his mana core, but surrounding it was something…. New. Kaleb could see five smaller masses of concentrated mana, each orbiting his core.
His hand instinctively reached out. He was enthralled by the light they emitted collectively.
They were like extensions of his core, connected to it but yet still their own separate entities, distinguished from his original core only by their size.
Like planets orbiting a star.
He moved ever closer, drawn to the pull of his innate mana. But as his fingers neared his core, a sudden, overwhelming force erupted from within the core itself, slamming into him like water surging from the gates of a dam.
A sting ripped through his arm, forcing him back.
'What the hell?' he gasped as he pulled his hand away.
He couldn't understand it.
