William sat tall in his saddle, the thud of his and his men's horse's hooves reverberating as he led them through the camp as fast as they could travel, toward the far east side of the camp. A wide grin stretched across his pale face, a mixture of anticipation and smug satisfaction.
Normally with that type of expression on a person's face, you would think something good had happened, but this was William, nothing good could come from such a wicked person having that expression.
Nothing good indeed.
One of his knights urged his mount closer, now riding alongside William, the man asked a question that seemed to have been eating at him.
"Sir, what… what's the plan? We can't be abandoning the expedition, can we?"
His voice was tight with the urgency of the moment.
William didn't miss a beat, his tone dripping with disdain at the man's words, practically piercing the man with his glare.
"Of course not! Do you take me for a deserter?"
