Chapter 114 - Cheater

As I sat clutching my pillow, still simmering from the humiliation of losing everything to Thalindra's suspiciously incredible poker skills, a devious idea began to form in my mind. If she could be smug and perfect at everything, then perhaps I could even the odds a little. 

"So," I said casually, as though I wasn't currently plotting a way to regain my dignity. "How about another round?" 

Thalindra raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "Haven't you been embarrassed enough for one evening?" 

"Maybe I just want a chance to win my clothes back," I shot back, feigning confidence. 

She smirked. "Very well. One more round. But don't cry when you lose again." 

"I won't," I replied, a hint of mischief slipping into my tone. 

As Thalindra shuffled the cards, I glanced at the fox, who had sprawled out on the couch. He met my gaze and tilted his head, as if he could sense the gears turning in my brain.
