Chapter 2 - Chasing the Night Away

Later that day, Miss Lianghua had lunch with her coworkers. The lunchroom was very busy, so they took their food back to the office. As they got into the elevator, a strange silence filled the air.

When they got to their floor and left the elevator, the two women sat down on a brown leather couch, and the third colleague got comfortable in a nice recliner. Miss Lianghua picked her desk, and they started their lunch.

Even though her coworkers were chatting freely, Miss Lianghua couldn't stop thinking about the young man. As lunchtime approached, her coworkers left, and Miss Lianghua was left alone with her thoughts.

As the workday was finishing, Miss Lianghua got a call from her best friend, Xiaole. Xiaole said they should meet at the Blooming Lotus, a popular bar across the city, for some drinks. Miss Lianghua said yes, and soon she and Miss Tang were on their way in the waiting car. Seeing that her boss seemed distracted, Miss Tang chose to talk about it.

"Miss Lianghua, you don't seem yourself today," Miss Tang said with worry. "Is everything okay?"

Miss Lianghua took a moment to clear her mind and then smiled softly. "It's just one of those days. I have a lot to think about."

It was evident that Miss Tang was feeling troubled.

"If you want to talk about something, I'm here to listen."

Miss Lianghua liked the offer but wasn't ready to share her feelings.

"Thank you, Miss Tang." A change of environment might be good.

The car got to the Blooming Lotus, and its bright lights lit up the busy street. Inside, the bar was full of people and noise. Xiaole was already at a corner table, and her face brightened when she saw her friend.

Xiaole shouted, smiling wide and warmly. She looked bright and happy; she wore a loose sparkling pink dress that matched her cheerful attitude. Her eyes sparkled with excitement, showing a lively energy that was very different from Lianghua's distracted mood.

"Hello," Lianghua said happily as she sat down next to her friend.

"Thank you for the idea." "I really needed it."

Xiaole's excitement spread to everyone around her.

"I'm happy you are here. Let's get some drinks and talk. "

As they got comfortable in their seats, Xiaole's exciting stories and the fun vibe of the bar helped take their minds off things. But Lianghua couldn't stop thinking about the young man. Even though she tried hard to enjoy the evening, she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong.

Lianghua could see that Xiaole had a lively personality that was appealing, but it was still unclear if she had any feelings for the young man. For now, Lianghua decided to enjoy the people around her and hoped that time would help her understand things better.

As the evening went on at the Blooming Lotus, Miss Lianghua and Xiaole got caught up in the fun mood of the bar. The two friends ordered a bunch of drinks—fancy cocktails and classic ones—each one helping them to relax and enjoy their time together.

Lianghua was slowly beginning to stop worrying about things that used to bother her. Xiaole's cheerful laughter and lively talking helped take my mind off things, and soon, I forgot about my worries about the young man.

"Come on, let's try that new drink," Xiaole said with a playful look as she called the bartender. It's called the Midnight Illusion. "That seems like it's perfect for us. "

The drinks kept coming, and each one was stronger than the one before. Xiaole told stories with more energy, and Lianghua answered her more freely. The bright lights in the bar, the loud music, and the warm drinks all came together to create a joyful feeling.

At some point, Lianghua felt a nice feeling spreading through her. With each sip, her worries and thoughts about the young man began to fade away. Xiaole, who was also a bit drunk, was very excited. She waved her arms around and laughed a lot at her own jokes.

"Can you believe how much we've had to drink. " Xiaole asked, her words a bit jumbled but sounding happy.

"We're going to feel really bad tomorrow. "

The sound of Miss Lianghua's laughter was a beautiful and authentic expression of joy, making it a pleasant surprise. "Who is concerned about what tomorrow will bring." Tonight is all about having a good time.

With each passing hour, their inhibitions loosened as a result of the drinks they consumed. The two friends helped each other, feeling a bit wobbly but happy. Xiaole's laughter sometimes caught the attention of people at nearby tables, but she didn't seem to see or care. Finally, Lianghua and Xiaole reached the entrance of the bar and got ready to go out. Miss Tang, who was quietly having a good time, helped Miss Lianghua by offering her arm as they left.

"Looks like you two had a fun night," Miss Tang said with a kind smile.

Miss Lianghua smiled widely, her cheeks red and her eyes shining from the drinks she had. "Sure" I needed this. "Thanks for coming, Miss Tang. "

As they walked out into the cool night, the city lights looked soft and shiny. Even though she was still feeling the effects of the drinks, Lianghua felt happy. For now, she let herself enjoy being free, believing that tomorrow would help her understand more about the young man.

As the car drove back, Xiaole had her arm around Lianghua's shoulder, and they laughed together with the sound of the engine running. The evening was a break from worries, a time to enjoy being with friends and the simple moments right now, even though the future still felt uncertain.

The drive home was full of a relaxed and happy feeling. Xiaole, feeling happy from the drinks, sang along to fun songs. Lianghua sat by the window of the car, enjoying the cool night air to relax. As they got closer to Lianghua's mansion, the city lights looked like a mix of colors in the sky. Lianghua felt thankful for her friends' help and was relieved by what happened tonight. Taking a break from her worries helped her more than she expected.

When the car finally arrived at her building, Lianghua had a little trouble staying balanced, but she walked steadily as she and Xiaole got out of the car. Miss Tang, always calm and collected, led them to the porch.

Xiaole, walking a bit unsteadily, turned to Miss Lianghua and smiled. "Tonight was great. We should really do this more," Lianghua laughed, her words a bit slurred from the drinks. "Of course," I had a lot of fun. "Thanks for helping me relax."

They walked up to Lianghua's mansion, where Xiaole gave her a warm hug before going back to the car. "Take a break." "Tomorrow is a new day, and we will figure everything out then."

After stepping inside, Lianghua leaned against the door and took a deep breath. The apartment felt cozy and calm after the loud and busy bar. She went through her usual tasks feeling happily tired, changed into comfy clothes, and got ready for bed.

As she lay in bed, she thought about what happened during the night. She still thought about the young man, but tonight's distraction helped her feel better. The drinking had made her worries seem less clear, but the main feelings were still there. She knew she would have to see them again tomorrow, but for now, she enjoyed the calmness of the evening.

She started falling asleep feeling hopeful and excited. Even though there were a lot of unknowns and questions about the young man, she felt comforted by her friends' support and the happiness of a nice evening.

As she shut her eyes, she wished that the new day would help her see things clearly and give her a fresh look at what really mattered.
