Chapter 6 - Flavors Of Fate

Kaith expertly chopped the fresh herbs, the aroma filling the kitchen of her restaurant, Savor.

As the head chef and owner, Kaith loved the thrill of creating new dishes, of watching her customers savor every bite.

But today, her mind kept wandering back to Drake, to the way he made her feel, to the song he had written for her.

Just then, her sous chef, Maria, poked her head into the kitchen. "Kaith, we have a special request from a customer. He wants a custom menu for a private dinner party."

Kaith's curiosity was piqued. "Who is it?" she asked.

Maria smiled mischievously. "Drake. He wants to book the entire restaurant for a night."

Kaith's heart skipped a beat. "What a coincidence," she said.

As she worked on the custom menu, Kaith couldn't help but think of Drake, of the way he made her heart sing.

When the night of the dinner party arrived, Kaith was nervous but excited. She had created a menu that would wow Drake's guests, and she couldn't wait to see him.

As the guests arrived, Kaith's eyes met Drake's across the room. He smiled, and her heart fluttered.

This was going to be a night to remember.

As the dinner party unfolded, Kaith's culinary skills shone. The guests raved about her dishes, and Drake's eyes never left her

But as soon as she began to serve the first course, Kaith noticed one of Drake's friends, a woman with piercing green eyes, watching her with an intensity that made her uncomfortable.

The woman, whose name was Sophia, seemed to be sizing her up, her gaze lingering on Kaith's body. Kaith felt a shiver run down her spine as Sophia's eyes met hers, a hint of a smile playing on her lips.

Kaith tried to brush it off, focusing on the dinner party. But as the night wore on, she couldn't shake the feeling that Sophia was hiding something.

As Drake stood up to play his guitar, Sophia's eyes never left Kaith's face, her gaze burning with an intensity that made Kaith's skin prickle.

Kaith's heart raced as she wondered what Sophia's motives were. Was she just a friendly guest, or was there something more sinister at play?

As Drake began to play, his music weaving a spell around her, Kaith couldn't help but notice Sophia's reaction. The woman's eyes seemed to flash with anger, her face pale in the dim light.

Kaith felt a shiver run down her spine as Sophia's gaze met hers, a hint of malice lurking in their depths. She tried to brush it off, focusing on the music, but she couldn't shake the feeling that Sophia was hiding something.

As the night wore on, Kaith found herself glancing at Sophia more and more, her instincts screaming that something was off. Drake's friend seemed to be watching her every move, her eyes lingering on Kaith's body with an intensity that made her skin crawl.

Kaith tried to focus on the dinner party, but her mind kept wandering back to Sophia. Who was this woman, and what did she want?

As the evening drew to a close, Kaith breathed a sigh of relief. She had made it through the night without any major incidents.

But as she was clearing the tables, Sophia approached her, a smile spreading across her face.

"Kaith, you're an amazing chef," Sophia said, her voice dripping with sweetness.

"I can see why Drake is so smitten with you."

Kaith's instincts screamed at her to be cautious. There was something behind Sophia's words, something that didn't quite add up.

"Thanks, Sophia," Kaith smiled, trying to keep her tone light.

"I'm just glad everyone enjoyed the food."

Sophia's smile grew wider, her eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, we did," she answered. "We definitely did."

And with that, Sophia turned and walked away, leaving Kaith feeling uneasy and unsure of what to make of the encounter.

As soon as Sophia was out of sight, Kaith sought out Drake, her heart racing with concern.

"Drake, can I talk to you for a minute?" she asked, pulling him aside.

"Of course, what's up?" he replied, his eyes scanning her face.

"It's Sophia," Kaith said, her voice low.

"I don't trust her. She was watching me all night, and her comments seemed...off."

Drake's expression changed in an instant, his eyes narrowing.

"What are you talking about, Kaith? Sophia's just a friend."

"A friend who seems to be hiding something," Kaith pressed on. "I don't like it, Drake. I think you should be careful around her."

Drake's face darkened, his jaw clenched.

"You're just being paranoid, Kaith. Sophia's harmless."

Kaith felt a surge of frustration. Why wouldn't Drake listen to her?

"I'm telling you, Drake, something's not right," she insisted.

But Drake just shook his head, his eyes flashing with anger. "Drop it, Kaith. You're just jealous."

Kaith's heart stung at his words. Jealous? How could he think that?

"I'm just trying to protect you," she protested, her voice almost giving away her frustration .

But Drake just turned and walked away, leaving Kaith feeling hurt and confused.

As soon as Drake was out of sight, he pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

"Hey, beautiful," he said, his voice low and husky.

"Hey, handsome," a sultry voice replied.

 "How was your night?"

Drake smiled, his eyes gleaming with secrets.

"It was great, thanks to you. Kaith's just being paranoid, like I told you."

Sophia laughed, a throaty sound. "I knew she'd be suspicious. But don't worry, my love. Our secret is safe."

Drake's voice dropped to a whisper. "I love you, Sophia. I'll see you soon."

"I love you too, Drake. Tonight can't come soon enough."

As Drake hung up the phone, a sly smile spread across his face. Kaith had no idea what was really going on, and he intended to keep it that way.

Meanwhile, Kaith was left feeling confused and hurt, wondering why Drake wouldn't listen to her concerns. Little did she know, Drake's secrets would soon tear them apart.
