The Shadow of Betrayal
By the time Alex and his men were returning back to the Resistance base, the sun had already set. Getting the support of the Flame Clan was proving to be a very exhaustive trip both physically and mentally, but now a sense of hope overcame him because gaining such a powerful clan was a huge success. Those warriors of Flame Clan would be a great asset in coming battles with the Demon King.
But as they drew near the covered entrance to the Resistance base, a nagging something tugged at Alex's mind. Something wasn't quite right. He couldn't shake this building feeling of the last couple of missions that there seemed to be too many close calls, ambushes that seemed too well-timed, and information which the enemy did seem to already have.
"Are you alright?" Brant asked, catching the frown upon Alex's face. Through thick and thin of it, the warrior had been with Alex ready to jump into battle at a moment's notice, yet he knew his man.
