And Alex did have a plan.
He had one last plan, one that was little short of dangerous, perhaps the most riskiest move he had ever made. If that failed, everything they work towards would be lost. But if it worked.well, they just might make it through.
Alex turned to the most trusted man, a giant of a man named Darius, who had stood beside him all this battle. His armor was dented, his face smeared with dirt and sweat, but there was still fire in his eyes.
"Darius," he said low, and urgent. "I want you and the others to fall back. Take the route we discussed, the means of escape."
Darius' face soured at this, clenching a little tighter on the sword. "What? No way, Alex-in this together, until the end we fight."
Alex shook his head. "We have no time to argue. The demon king's power is too great. If we don't get the others out of here now, we are all dead.
