Chapter 63 - I really want to kill him

Filch was almost in tears when he saw Mrs. Norris suspended. I could see tears forming in the corners of his eyes before his face twisted in anger, and he glared at the trio, especially Harry.

"You killed my cat, you killed her, I'll kill you!"

He moved to throw himself at Harry before Dumbledore and some other teachers arrived.

Dumbledore isolated the trio and Filch in another room and asked me to come as well, saying my mind might help deduce what had happened.

Dumbledore was passing his wand over Mrs. Norris's body while whispering something.

"She's dead. It's tragic. If I had been there, I could have saved it in time."

"I beg your pardon? Since when does a dead person look like this? She's been petrified, not killed!"

I swear, if he doesn't shut his big mouth, I'll punch him in the face to silence him.

"Miss Longbottom is right, but the important thing is: how did she get there?"

"You should ask him. It's certain that he knows, and he knows I'm a... a Squib."

Filch was always ready to pounce on Harry, as if to attack him.

"It wasn't me who did this! Plus, I don't even know what a Squib is."

"LIE!"

"Calm down, Filch. It's almost certain that it wasn't them who did this. After all, apart from the era of Atlantean magic, I don't believe anyone has the power to do this at such a young age."

I even had to defend the trio because it's clear they did nothing.

"It would seem that Mr. Potter and his two friends found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time."

I always admire Professor Snape for maintaining that composed tone no matter the situation.

"But it's true that the evidence is against them, especially knowing they weren't even at the Halloween banquet."

"We were at the Deathday party of Nearly Headless Nick. You can ask the ghosts; there were many witnesses to our presence."

"Oh, I didn't know ghosts could feeding the living properly. Why don't you head to the Great Hall afterward?"

The trio exchanged glances, giving the impression they had something to hide.

"Because I wasn't hungry."

Harry replied, trying to explain his actions and avoid suspicion.

"Don't bother with them, Professor Snape. It's clear they have nothing more to say,"

Professor McGonagall intervened.

"My cat has been petrified, and I demand that the culprit be found!"

"We can't do much because we don't have many clues, but don't worry. Professor Sprout is growing mandrakes, if I recall correctly."

"I could reach out to some acquaintances to see if they'd be willing to sell me some."

"I wish you luck, Miss Longbottom, because according to the latest news, there's a shortage of mandrakes."

"They never said there was none left in stock, so I'll find some."

After we went upstairs, I heard Ron ask why Harry didn't tell them about the voice.

"What voice?"

"Harry heard a voice and could follow it to its source."

"Since I told you that I heard it, the voice was cold and spoke of killing."

It could be the voice of the famous monster of the Chamber of Secrets. I decided not to voice my hypothesis, knowing we didn't have enough information.

"You did well not to say anything. There's a good chance they would've thought you were a fool. Hearing voices in your head isn't normal, even for a wizard."

"Oh well, I have a voice that tells me to be more daring with you."

Damn, I forgot Marie because she hadn't spoken.

"It doesn't surprise me that your thoughts are like this."

"Why are you being so mean to me, Evelyn? It's not fair!"

She rolled on the ground, throwing a little tantrum.

And to think that this person is my girlfriend.
