Chapter 61 - Small time skip

Pov General,

"There is a shortage of mandrakes. But it's..."

Evelyn read the newspaper, and the main headline was grim. Her eyes briefly shone, resembling Sloth's, before she composed herself.

"It's sad to think of all those poor victims who can't be healed."

Mary's eyes also took on the same glimmer as she replied.

"What worries me most is that the price of mandrakes could skyrocket due to this scarcity."

Throughout the school year, Sloth would use her powers to ease the urgency of needing mandrakes.

But the most terrifying thing is her ability to influence not only the school but the entire population of Earth, and she could exert her power on a population a thousand times larger if she wished.

Pov Evelyn,

The Arithmetic and Ancient Runes courses are very interesting. Additionally, I get along very well with the Runes teacher, and I was able to gain more information about the runes I want to engrave on my katana.

Thanks to the teacher's advice, I've already begun engraving runes on my katana to prevent anyone besides me from using its power.

Hermione was jealous because she wanted to see how to carve runes on an object.

The Arithmetic classes are enjoyable because they rely heavily on logic and less on talent compared to Divination. However, I'm starting to doubt the Divination teacher's abilities, especially after hearing that she placed a prophecy of doom on Cho—something she reportedly does to a student every year.

I wonder if the teacher simply wants to predict doom for all her students.

Potions classes have also been going well, though I often get reprimanded for my ideas on improving potions.

"How can you think that adding a flaming phoenix feather could improve the potion? Sometimes I wonder if you're a genius or just a fool!"

"Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I wanted to see what would happen because I know there's a connection between the feather and the potion, so I was curious to see what it could do."

Anyway, I seem to have a talent for angering him with the ingredients I use "just to see what would happen."

The Magical Creatures Healing classes were as enjoyable as ever. We studied two or three other creatures, like the Niffler, which was quite funny and cute—provided we weren't carrying anything of great value.

The weeks went by, and I had some discussions with Colin, who apparently had new questions for me. He even started coming to my support classes with a look on his face as if everything I said was sacred.

Hermione told me that on Halloween, she would be going with Ron and Harry to celebrate the anniversary of Sir Nicholas's death.

"I wish you good luck, because it's not exactly the most exciting thing for a human. Plus, you won't be able to eat anything."

Hermione hesitated for a moment, but there was nothing she could do, as she had already promised to go and couldn't break her word.

We also received news about the first trip to Hogsmeade, which will take place on October 31st.

Marie was so excited because, in addition to visiting a purely magical village, she would get to have a date with me.

"Are there any hotels there?"

"No, but there are inns. Why?"

"So we can have a more intimate moment together."

"Oh, that's too bad. I feel like I'll end up studying in the room instead."

"NO, ANYTHING BUT THAT. PLEASE, LET'S HAVE A REAL DATE—I WAS JUST JOKING ABOUT THE HOTEL."

Result of this duel: Victory for me.
