Chapter 27 - Moaning Myrtle

Author's note: I will slow down the pace of my plublication to 1 times a day otherwise I would have an inspiration breakdown and therefore can be stopped history. And may be that the pace will decrease because next week I start school again.

Today I have a rather long break, so I took this opportunity to do something that I had wanted to do since last year but which many incidents prevented me from doing. I'm going to talk to the ghost that haunts the girls' toilets on the second floor, Myrtle Warren, or as everyone calls her, Moaning Myrtle.

I've tried to get in touch with her several times, but every time it's almost impossible to talk to her because she cries most of the time.

Marie and I were ready to meet her and even made a list of phrases not to say.

The toilets were calm today, which reassured us that we would be able to meet her normally.

"Myrtle, come on, I want to talk to you."

And as expected, she came to me angrily.

"You came to insult me, didn't you? Because I'm just a poor dead girl who annoys everyone with my tears."

"No, I wanted to talk to you like a normal person, but the times I tried, you were busy."

"We just want to learn a little more about your death because you were a student at Hogwarts, and yet you died. We were wondering if you passed away from natural causes like Professor Binns or if it was something else."

As usual, Marie went straight to the main subject.

"I died in this place, and I..."

I sensed she was about to start crying again, so we had to stop her.

"You're not forced to relive painful memories; it was just curiosity. Mainly, we wanted to know what life was like here during your time, you know..."

She began to tell us about her life as a student 50 years ago and how she belonged to Ravenclaw. Apparently, she was likely bullied because she was smarter than the others, and they were jealous of her knowledge, even though she was born a Muggle.

Then she explained that even in death, she's still so hated.

"It's probably because you haunt this place that some people want to avoid you."

"And where else should I go?"

I suggested she attend classes invisibly to occupy her time for a while, and stop crying over everything, as some people have lived lives worse than hers.

I could tell my words had an impact on her and gave her some ideas, but my last sentence made her angry, so we fled the scene.

A few days later, it was time for the selection of Quidditch players for the Ravenclaw students, and Marie decided to participate.

Cho also decided to try out and wanted to be the Seeker, but since the position was already filled, Cho would have to challenge the current Seeker to a duel. Whoever caught the Golden Snitch first would be on the team.

Marie was content to play the role of goalkeeper, and during the penalty shots or actions aimed at testing her skills, she demonstrated her incredible ability. We had the impression she was born on a broom.

She managed to become the Keeper, and unfortunately, Cho didn't succeed this time, but with her talent, there's a good chance she'll make it next year.

To celebrate Marie's success, I bought her a Nimbus 2000, which I had pre-ordered when I went to Diagon Alley the day I met Harry Potter. Marie was so happy that she gave me a huge hug and almost brought her lips to mine before I stopped her and reminded her that we aren't at that stage in our relationship yet.

I had already noticed she was in love with me, given all the signs since Halloween, but I still prefer to strengthen our bond before we truly become a couple.
